Fox Gold Rush

Fox Gold Rush Slot Review

A cartoon fox in a cowboy hat sprawls across a stool in a gold-rush saloon, boots on the table, revolver resting in his paw and a WANTED poster watching from the wall. Onlyplay built Fox Gold Rush so that almost nothing pays until one particular symbol shows up, which makes it a collector’s game rather than a spinner’s: the Coins carrying most of the money count for nothing until the right symbol arrives to take them.

It runs on a 3×5 grid at 95.00% RTP, with four fixed jackpots from 25x up to 1,000x the bet, all of them reachable only inside the bonus. That single dependency is either the whole appeal or an awful lot of waiting, depending on your taste.

Base Game & Features

The base game is a straightforward three-row, five-reel set-up. Card symbols J, Q, K and A fill out the lower end of the reels, with cowboy-themed symbols including the hat, horseshoe and boots above them. It’s a classic frontier hierarchy: royals at the bottom, themed symbols stacked above.

Standard symbol wins pay in the usual way, matched left to right across the reels. But the ordinary paytable isn’t where this game concentrates its interest. That lives in three special symbols, and each of them points at the same place: the collector.

The Wild substitutes for every symbol except the Coin, the Sticky Collect and the Jackpot. That’s its whole job, and the exclusions tell you what matters here: the three barred symbols are the ones carrying the game’s actual money. A Wild can help complete a line of hats or boots, but it will never stand in for a Coin or help the collector do its work.

Coin Symbols

Coin symbols land carrying a cash value, set as the current bet multiplied by one randomly chosen multiplier. The full range:

• x1
• x2
• x3
• x4
• x5
• x6
• x7
• x8
• x10
• x20

So at any bet level, a single Coin can be worth anything from one times the stake up to twenty times it, decided at random when it lands. Where several Coins land on one spin, each carries its own independently chosen multiplier, so a full board of Coins can hold a wide spread of values at once.

The spacing of that list matters as much as its length. Eight of the ten multipliers sit between x1 and x8, with a jump past x9 to x10 and then a doubling to x20 at the top. A x20 Coin is the best the base game can produce on a single symbol, and it’s worth as much as twenty x1 Coins landing together.

Sticky Collect Symbol

A Coin on its own pays nothing. It converts only when a Sticky Collect symbol lands on the same spin and gathers the Coin’s value in. No collector, no payout. It’s a simple dependency and it shapes every spin: a reel full of Coins is worth exactly zero unless the collector shows up too.

In the base game the collector works spin by spin, sweeping whatever Coins share the reels with it and then leaving again. Its real behaviour arrives in the bonus, where it stops leaving, and that difference is the whole design of the game.

The Jackpot Ladder

The Jackpot symbols are variations of the Coin symbol: Mini, Minor, Major and Grand. Each carries a fixed multiple of the bet:

• Mini Jackpot: bet x25
• Minor Jackpot: bet x50
• Major Jackpot: bet x150
• Grand Jackpot: bet x1,000

These are bet multiples rather than progressive pots, so every player chases the same fixed prize. The gaps widen as the ladder climbs: the Minor doubles the Mini, the Major triples the Minor, and the Grand pays nearly seven times the Major. Everything above the Major is really one big prize with three consolation rungs beneath it.

And because the Jackpot symbols are Coins, they follow the same rule as every other Coin: they only pay when the Sticky Collect symbol gathers them, which happens during the Bonus Game session. A Grand sitting on the reels in the base game, with no collector alongside it, is worth nothing at all.

Fox Gold Rush Bonus Game and Bonus Buy

The Bonus Game is where the Sticky Collect symbol earns its name. Inside the session it sticks, locking in place on the reels until the round ends, gathering every Coin and Jackpot symbol that lands. A collector that stays put turns each subsequent spin into a fresh chance to build a total, rather than a one-shot sweep.

The round works like this, step by step:

1. The Sticky Collect symbol locks into its position on the reels.
2. Coins land as normal, each carrying a bet multiple from x1 to x20.
3. Every Coin that arrives is added to the collector’s running total.
4. Jackpot symbols that land are collected for their fixed prize value.
5. The session ends, and the accumulated total pays out.

That accumulation is the point. In the base game a collector gathers one spin’s worth of Coins and goes; here it holds its ground and stacks everything that follows. Jackpot symbols pay only inside this session, which makes the bonus the sole route to the Mini, Minor, Major and Grand prizes.

Bonus Buy and Bonus Chance

Two purchase options sit in the base game. A BUY BONUS button priced at 70x the bet skips the waiting entirely and takes you straight into the round. Alongside it, a BONUS CHANCE toggle sits next to the spin controls, switched on or off at will.

A 70x entry against a Grand worth 1,000x the bet gives the buy a clear ceiling: one good round with the Grand landing on a sticky collector returns many times the cost of entry. The lower rungs tell a different story. A round that tops out at the Major pays 150x, and a Mini-only round pays 25x, so most sessions will be decided well below the top prize.

Because every jackpot is a fixed bet multiple, there’s no progressive pool building in the background. What the ladder says on the tin is what it pays, every time, to everyone. That also means the buy’s value doesn’t shift with anyone else’s play: the prize waiting at the top of a bought round is identical to the one waiting at the top of a triggered one.

Our Honest Verdict

Overall Rating: 6.9/10

Most of your time here is spent watching Coins land that don’t pay, in a cheerful saloon, waiting for one symbol. That’s the honest shape of it, and it’s also the reason to choose the game: no other slot makes a single collector arrival feel like this much of an event.

The strength is the bonus. A collector that locks in place and gathers everything that follows builds genuine tension spin after spin, and with four prizes to chase, the round always has somewhere to go. The weakness is what’s underneath it: the ordinary paytable does almost nothing, so between bonuses there’s very little to actually win.

It suits players who like one long pursuit with a fixed prize at the end of it, and it’ll leave anyone who wants regular smaller wins or varied bonus rounds cold. For the patient type, the fox’s gold is genuinely there for the taking.
