Hidden Hexes – Brasil Jackpot Slot Review
Most jackpot slots hide their true cost somewhere in the paytable; Hidden Hexes – Brasil Jackpot prints it on the front. A 91.99% RTP is four points below the scatter-pays titles Pragmatic Play usually ships, and every one of those points has been funnelled into four progressive jackpots you’ll almost certainly never see. Whether that’s a fair price for a lottery ticket is the whole question of this game, and this review argues it mostly isn’t.
The game runs on a 5×4 grid where symbols pay anywhere: it’s the total count of a matching symbol on screen at the end of a spin that sets the win, with payouts starting from eight instances. Volatility is rated low, which suits the steady-tumble structure. Wins are capped at 5,000x the bet in both the base game and free spins.
The theme stitches South American colour onto a familiar spellbook. Cauldrons, owls and potion bottles sit alongside a green book that leads the paytable, and the whole thing is built to funnel attention towards four progressive jackpots: Minor, Major, Mega and Grand. Whether the trade-off is worth it depends almost entirely on how much you value a jackpot shot.
Base Game & Features
Every spin starts with a tumble. Winning symbols are paid and removed, the remaining symbols drop to the bottom, and new ones fall in from above. Tumbling continues until no new winning combination forms, at which point the total from that spin sequence is added to the balance. It’s the standard Pragmatic tumble loop, executed cleanly.
The Multiplier Reel
Sitting alongside the grid is an extra reel carrying multipliers. It starts at x1 on every spin and climbs by x1 after each tumble, with all wins multiplied by the middle value on the reel. Once the spin and its tumbles finish, the reel resets to x1.
The Crystal Ball is where that reel gets interesting. It can land anywhere on the screen, and each hit carries a random multiplier that’s added straight onto the current reel value. The possible values are:
- x3, x4, x5, x6, x8
- x10, x12, x15, x20, x25
- x50, x100 and x500
A x500 crystal ball in the base game is the kind of hit that justifies the whole reel concept. Most of the time, though, the reel idles between x1 and x4, which keeps base-game wins modest and the pace gentle.
Paytable
Symbols pay for clusters of 8-9, 10-11 and 12-30 instances, with values as multiples of the stake:
- Green Book: 0.6x / 1.5x / 3x
- Cauldron: 0.5x / 1x / 2x
- Owl: 0.4x / 0.8x / 1.5x
- Potion Bottle: 0.35x / 0.7x / 1.2x
- Scroll: 0.3x / 0.6x / 1x
- A: 0.25x / 0.5x / 0.8x
- K: 0.2x / 0.4x / 0.7x
- Q: 0.15x / 0.3x / 0.5x
- J: 0.1x / 0.2x / 0.4x
The gaps between tiers are small, which is characteristic of low volatility: plenty of small clusters, few dramatic ones. Even the top symbol returns just 3x for a full screen, so the base game alone was never going to carry this title.
Jackpot Bonus Game
The jackpot drop is random at the end of any base game spin. Up to four progressive jackpots can be active at once, and the winner is revealed on a bonus screen where you open items until three carry the same jackpot name. Stakes from 0.20 upwards are eligible, and your chance of triggering scales directly with your bet size.
Two restrictions matter. Jackpots can’t be won during any feature, so the bonus buy and free spins rounds offer no shortcut to them. And when a jackpot lands, it reseedes from an amount set aside for that purpose, so the advertised totals are always moving.
Hidden Hexes – Brasil Jackpot Free Spins & Bonus Rounds
Free Spins
Land 4, 5 or 6 Scatter symbols, represented by a wizard, to trigger the round. The awards scale with the trigger:
- 4 Scatters: 10 free spins
- 5 Scatters: 12 free spins
- 6 Scatters: 14 free spins
- 3 or more Scatters during the round: 5 additional free spins
The change that matters is the multiplier reel. During free spins it doesn’t reset between spins. It keeps climbing by x1 after every tumble for the whole round, and any Crystal Ball values that land are added to that running total. One long tumble chain midway through the round can leave every later spin multiplying from an already elevated value.
Special reels are in play during the feature, and the 5,000x cap applies here too: if a round’s total reaches it, the round ends immediately, the win is paid, and any remaining free spins are forfeited. In practice, on a low-volatility profile, that cap is unlikely to be the thing that stops your round.
Buy Free Spins
The free spins round can be bought directly from the base game for 100x the current total bet. On the triggering spin, 4, 5 or 6 Scatters are guaranteed to land at random, so the buy itself decides whether you start on 10, 12 or 14 spins.
At 100x for a feature on a 91.99% RTP game with low volatility, the buy is priced at the standard rate for a below-standard return. Players who chase the non-resetting multiplier reel may still find it worthwhile; players buying for raw value won’t.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.8/10
The trade here is unusually explicit: surrender roughly four percentage points of return for a random, bet-scaled shot at four progressive jackpots. That price is too high for most players, and the game does too little to argue otherwise.
What it does well is structure. The multiplier reel that climbs with every tumble, the Crystal Ball dropping up to x500 onto it, and a free spins round where the reel never resets are genuinely good ideas, and they work together better than most jackpot-game mechanics manage. Low volatility also does exactly what it promises: a steady drip of small clusters with no brutal stretches.
What it does badly is reward. The paytable tops out at 3x for a full screen of the best symbol, the jackpots can’t be won during any feature, and the 5,000x cap is unreachable on this profile. The parts you actually experience are the lean ones; the generous parts are the ones you wait for.
So it suits one specific reader: the jackpot hunter who wants low-stakes, low-variance grinding towards a lottery-style payout and accepts paying for it through the RTP. Everyone else should take the same studio’s non-jackpot scatter-pays games, which return more and give up nothing that matters. As a piece of design, this is good work in a bad cause.
