Halloween has not even occurred yet and already Thunderkick are moving onto their Christmas portfolio. Hot Turkey is the first Christmas slot of 2024 on our agenda, and to kick-start the festive season, Thunderkick has opted for the same features and mechanics as Hot Potato.
Hunm along to your favourite Christmas tunes as Exploding Turkey Wilds take to the reels, generating Multipliers that apply to cluster wins with each spin. The heat is on to trigger Free Spins, during which, Multipliers do not reset and can reach up to x128.

Hot Turkey is a 7×7 Video Slot utilising a Cluster Pays mechanic. Join in the festivities by choosing a bet size between £.€0.10per spin and £.€100 per spin.
Wins occur when 5-25 identical symbols land horizontally or vertically adjacent, with the highest-paying producing wins of 100x your bet for a 25+ winning cluster. Each winning cluster is subject to an Avalanche Feature. This causes winning symbols to be removed and new symbols to fill the gaps.
Hot Turkey has a theoretical RTP of 94.13%, a Mid-High Volatility rating, and a max win cap of 10,000x your bet. Autoplay, Turbo Mode, and Bonus Buy options are also available to players outside the UK.
Exploding Turkey Wild & Multiplier Grid
The Exploding Wild symbol can randomly land or appear after a winning cluster is removed in the base game. Once in view, the Exploding Wild will remove symbols within a 3×3 area, leaving behind a special Multiplier Grid.
Each cell behind a removed cluster will generate a Multiplier with an initial value of x2. If new Turkey Wilds explode on top of an existing Multiplier Grid, their values will Double, up to a maximum of x128.
Additional Multiplier Grids may also generate when a new Exploding Wild appears in view. When no more wins occur, the Multiplier Grids are removed at the start of the next spin. Multipliers are applied to winning clusters that form on top of them.
Bet+
Players can enhance their game round by choosing one of the following options:
- Bonus Boost – Each spin is 2 times more likely to trigger Free Spins (1.3x your bet)
- Bonus Boost Plus – Each spin is 5 times more likely to trigger Free Spins (2.2x your bet)
Bonus Buy
For 100x their bet, players can purchase the Free Spins round, causing 3 Scatter symbols to land in the next spin. (RTP 94.44%)
Free Spins
Landing 3 ‘Hot’ Scatters in the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10 Free Spins. Multiplier Grids present in the base game are reset at the start of Free Spins.
Multiplier Grids that are created during this time do not reset between spins. Landing 3 Scatters awards an additional +10 Free Spins.

Our Verdict
Christmas titles seem to appear earlier and earlier each year, just like the Christmas aisles in a supermarket. Thunderkick sets the festivities in motion with Hot Turkey, a slot that sticks out like a sore thumb in the middle of September.
With spooky season still upcoming, we’d expect to see Providers mass-producing Halloween titles this time of year, however, Thunderkick has chosen to defy all odds and go with ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ according to Andy Williams, in their latest release.
Hot Turkey utilises preloved features and mechanics from another Thunderkick release. Hot Potato delivered simple yet effective gameplay that engaged players in Exploding Potato Wilds and Multiplier Grids. More of the same characteristics can be found here, only this time we’re faced with Exploding Turkeys in a Christmas reskin.
As with Hot Potato, Multipliers are set between x2 and x128. In the eyes of Thunderkick, it’s clear we’ve not been ‘good enough’ to receive anything higher than these values in the sequel, nor a better max win potential.
Hot Turkey will do well around the Christmas period, but we’re not sure where it will stand during the rest of the year. Choosing a theme based on a specific holiday season is a big risk, but Thunderkick has chosen to roll with it anyway. Where Hot Turkey will find itself in the new year is anyone’s guess, but thanks to its ties to Hot Potato, it may become a popular choice all year round.
