Jewels of Ra Slot Review
Sunset on an Egyptian temple terrace, a winged golden scarab spread across the cornice, a pyramid glowing in the haze behind the columns. Jewels of Ra, from Pragmatic Play, is built almost entirely around one round: the regular reels exist to deliver scarabs, and nearly everything the game actually pays happens behind the temple doors. Strip that away and there isn’t much left.
It runs on a 5×4 grid with up to 1,024 ways to win, at high volatility, with a 96.53% RTP and a maximum win capped at 5,000x the bet. It sits in the same family as Might of Ra and Pyramid King, though the prize ladder here is its own animal, closer in spirit to Eye of Cleopatra than either of them.
How Jewels of Ra Pays
Wins pay left to right on adjacent reels from the leftmost side, with a maximum of 1,024 possible ways. Only the highest win per way counts, and wins on multiple ways all add together. The paying symbols are a familiar Egyptian cast, and their values, as multiples of the total bet, look like this:
- Pharaoh Head: three of a kind pays 1x, four pays 1.6x, five pays 2.4x
- Anubis: three pays 0.8x, four pays 1.2x, five pays 2x
- Eye of Ra: three pays 0.6x, four pays 1x, five pays 1.6x
- Ankh: three pays 0.4x, four pays 0.6x, five pays 1.2x
- Royals (A, K, Q, J, 10): three pays 0.2x, four pays 0.4x, five pays 0.6x
All wins are multiplied by the base bet, which is the bet amount before any feature-related increases. The wild appears on reels two to five and substitutes for everything except the MONEY symbols. It also carries a random multiplier of x2, x3 or x5 that applies to any win passing through it.
When more than one wild forms part of the same combination, their multipliers multiply each other, so a pair of lucky wilds can turn a modest line into something much bigger. Randomly, reels can also become synchronized, stopping to display identical symbols.
On a 1,024-way grid, a wall of matching reels is where the bigger base wins come from. It’s the game’s one route to a substantial payout outside the feature.
Money Symbols and the Respin Feature
MONEY Symbols
MONEY symbols are scarabs that take a random value on every spin, from a predefined set multiplied by the base bet: 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, then the three named prizes: 200x MINOR, 500x MAJOR and 2,500x MEGA. The named prizes sit outside the general multiplier’s reach during the feature, so their values are fixed relative to the stake.
Hit five of them anywhere on the screen and you win a respin, with the triggering symbols held sticky and an increased chance of landing a sixth. Six or more anywhere triggers the RESPIN feature outright.
That intermediate five-symbol respin is a small design touch worth knowing about: it’s the game’s way of building suspense one symbol at a time before the real round begins.
The RESPIN Feature
The round starts with three respins and the triggering MONEY symbols locked in place. The normal reels fade away, and only MONEY symbols, COLLECT symbols and blanks spin, on a special set of reels used for the feature alone.
Every time a MONEY or COLLECT symbol lands, or a full-screen collection happens, the respin count resets to three. A general multiplier sits above the reels and applies to all present MONEY symbols except MINOR, MAJOR and MEGA. It starts at x1 and steps up through x2, x3 and x5 to a maximum of x10 each time a collection occurs.
Because the ladder only advances on a collection, a COLLECT symbol early in the round is the pivot: it pays the board once at a low multiplier and opens the door to everything that follows.
The COLLECT symbol appears only during the feature. When it lands, it gathers and pays out every MONEY symbol value on screen after the current general multiplier is applied, then the multiplier advances for the respins that follow.
Fill all 20 positions with MONEY symbols and the collection happens without a COLLECT symbol: all values are multiplied by the current general multiplier, awarded, and the multiplier steps up again.
The respin win is paid after the round completes rather than spin by spin, and a full cycle’s total is recorded as one win in the game history. The 5,000x cap works the same way: if a round’s total reaches it, everything stops at that moment, the win is awarded and any remaining respins are forfeited.
Bet Modes and the Bonus Buy
Three bet multipliers are on offer, and they change how the game behaves:
- Normal play, at a 25x bet multiplier
- ANTE BET, at 75x, making the natural chance of triggering the RESPIN feature five times higher
- SUPER SPIN, at 500x, guaranteeing that two, three, four or five reels become synchronized on each spin, with the RESPIN feature switched off entirely
The RTP shifts slightly with the mode: 96.53% in normal play, 96.52% on the ANTE BET and 96.49% on SUPER SPIN. The differences are small enough that the mode choice comes down to how you want to chase the feature.
ANTE BET stacks the odds in favour of triggering the round naturally. SUPER SPIN trades the feature away entirely for guaranteed synchronized reels on every spin. There’s a fourth option, and it’s the direct one: buying the round outright for 60x the current base bet.
Six MONEY symbols are guaranteed to hit on the triggering spin, which skips the five-symbol near-miss and drops you straight into the feature with a full starting board. That version of the round returns 96.49%.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Most of a session here is spent waiting for the temple doors to open: scarabs land, the reels spin, and very little pays until six of them line up. What makes the wait worth it is the round itself, where each collection pays the board at a multiplier that climbs with every collection, up to a maximum of x10.
That ladder is the game’s real strength. It turns an early COLLECT symbol into something you welcome rather than dread, since paying out cheaply is exactly what arms the bigger sweep that follows. The weakness sits either side of it: regular pays top out at 2.4x, and the 5,000x ceiling cuts the round dead the moment it’s reached.
This suits players who enjoy collect-and-hold rounds and judge a slot by how its bonus builds, not by how often the base game pays. Chasers of five-figure ceilings will find it restrained. Ra’s temple is lavish with its beauty and careful with its gold, and for the right player, that’s plenty.
