King Kong Cash Slot Review
Kong dozes against a block of stone in his Hawaiian shirt, banana peels cracked open across the flagstones, and the game’s best trick is that the whole thing runs on his nap. Most classic 20-liners save every surprise for the bonus round; King Kong Cash refuses to, firing random modifiers into spins that had no business paying anything.
Blueprint Gaming built a sleepy jungle cartoon that’s secretly one of the busier five-reel frames of its era, with five ways to rescue a dead spin and a five-way bonus ladder waiting behind the scatters. It’s a 5×3 grid with 20 winlines, running at 95.79% RTP with a maximum win of 50,000x the total bet.
Readers who followed King Kong Splash: Power Play in 2026 or Return Of Kong Megaways will recognise the family resemblance. The jungle’s quiet for now. The ape won’t stay asleep.
Base Game & Features
The reels sit in a lashed bamboo frame, vines drooping over the top corners against a patch of blue sky. It’s lush, glossy, cartoonish 3D, and it doesn’t take itself at all seriously. Kong himself is never far from the frame, sprawled bottom left in his Hawaiian shirt with his eyes closed.
Wins pay left to right across the 20 fixed winlines, which can’t be adjusted; every spin covers all of them. Symbol values are expressed as multiples of the total bet, not the line bet, so the figures below are what you actually stand to win from a combination.
The paying ladder is steep at the top and thin at the bottom:
- King Kong Cash logo – 2, 3, 4 or 5 of a kind pays 2x, 40x, 100x or 500x the total bet
- Grey animal – 3, 4 or 5 pays 20x, 80x or 300x
- Parrot – 3, 4 or 5 pays 10x, 60x or 200x
- Ace – 3, 4 or 5 pays 8x, 40x or 100x
- Queen and Jack – 3, 4 or 5 pays 4x, 10x or 50x
Two things stand out in that ladder. The logo and the wild are the only symbols that pay from just two of a kind, and the gap between them and the grey animal below is wider than any other step on the table. The royals keep the lights on between the interesting moments.
The wild is a crowned barrel that substitutes for every symbol except the Bonus scatter, and it carries the same pays as the logo. That makes it the joint richest symbol on the reels, standing in for the top payer as easily as for the royals. Because it substitutes everything except the scatter, a wild on the right reel can complete any line the game pays.
The Bonus symbol is Kong’s face, and three or more of it anywhere awards the King Kong Bonus. It’s the only symbol the wild won’t stand in for, which is why the scatter is worth watching for independently. Neither special symbol pays in its own right beyond the logo-style line wins.
Sleepy Kong Modifiers
The centrepiece of the base game is the sleeping ape himself. Sleepy Kong can trigger randomly on any spin, jolting awake to fire one of five Monkey Modifiers at the reels. There’s no collecting, no meter, no warning; the modifiers simply arrive when Kong decides his nap is over. Each one is a different kind of rescue job for a spin that was going nowhere:
- Banana Cannon Wilds – Kong blasts wilds onto the reels
- Golden Barrel Super Spin – a guaranteed-win spin
- Bonus Boost – extra Bonus symbols added to the reels
- Kong Respin – a respin with a second chance at a win
- King Kong Streak – winning spins repeat until the streak ends
Bonus Boost is the one to hope for when you’re chasing the scatter trigger, since it feeds the very symbols the bonus needs. Banana Cannon Wilds is the most direct of the bunch: wilds landing mid-spin can complete lines the base paytable alone wouldn’t have paid.
King Kong Streak is the one with the open-ended feel, because the repeats continue until the streak breaks rather than for a fixed count. The other two are one-shot corrections to a bad spin. None of it is complicated, and that’s the point.
What the five modifiers share is that none of them needs you to do anything. There’s no decision to make and no timing to read; a spin either wakes the ape or it doesn’t. The variety comes from never knowing which of the five you’ll get until Kong stirs.
King Kong Cash Bonus Features
Land three or more Bonus scatters and you’re into the King Kong Bonus, the game’s main event. This isn’t a fixed free spins round; it’s a ladder climb. You move up the ladder, one rung at a time, and where you stop decides which of five bonuses you walk away with.
Stop early and you take a smaller prize; push on and you gamble everything for the bigger features at the top. The five rungs, from bottom to top:
- King Kong Trail – the first rung’s prize
- Barrel Blast – the second bonus on the ladder
- Empire Free Spins – the first of the free spins rounds
- Golden Kong Free Spins – the richer free spins round
- Big Monkey Bonus – the top of the ladder, where wins up to 1,000x the total bet are on the table
The structure means the trigger is only half the story. Two players can land three scatters in the same session and walk away with completely different bonuses, because the ladder does the choosing, not you. Every rung you pass is a prize you’ve declined, and there’s no going back down once you’ve climbed.
The ladder splits the five bonuses into three tiers of ambition. King Kong Trail and Barrel Blast are the walk-away options, cash-style prizes you can bank without ever seeing a free spin. The two free spins rounds sit in the middle, with Golden Kong Free Spins the richer of the pair. Big Monkey Bonus crowns the lot.
That tension is the whole design. Reaching either free spins round means turning down the two rungs below it, and the Big Monkey Bonus at the top is the only place the game’s loudest banner pays out. It’s the reason anybody climbs past the sure things.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Playing this is like sharing a room with the ape himself. Long quiet stretches where the reels tick over on royal pays, then sudden noise: a modifier out of nowhere, or three scatters and the ladder. The reason to choose it over plainer 20-liners is that the nap can end on any spin, and no session ever feels quite the same as the last.
The strength is the wake-up mechanic. A random modifier that can rescue a dead spin gives the base game a pulse most games of this shape never had, and the ladder makes even the bonus trigger feel like a second game rather than a payout animation.
The weakness is the ladder too: you never pick your own bonus, and a climb that stalls on the first rung pays like a consolation prize. For players who enjoy chaos in a classic frame, and for anyone who enjoyed King Kong Splash: Power Play, this is easy jungle to revisit. Methodical players who want control over their bonus rounds will find the ape sleeps through their plans.
