Links of Flame Slot Review
A gold bowl of burning coals sits beside the reels, sparks drifting up a wall of hot pink and orange. Links of Flame barely cares about its own paylines: nearly every decision in the design pushes you towards the coins, and four or five of them pay nothing while still counting towards something better. Slingshot Studios has built this collector shape before, in Links of Ra and Leprechaun Links; here it’s dressed in fire and gold.
The basics are a 5×4 grid with 40 fixed paylines, high volatility, and stakes from 0.20 to 25.00 per spin. The RTP is 96%, and a single transaction is capped at 10,000x the base bet. Everything here builds towards the coin-collecting respins, and the meter that upgrades them is what gives the waiting a point. Feed the bowl and see.
Base Game & Features
Five reels, four rows, 40 paylines that pay left to right from the first reel. The line count is fixed, and only the highest win counts on each line. With roughly one spin in three paying anything, the line game is a steady drip rather than a surge.
Symbol pays, as multiples of the initial bet:
- 777: 1.2x for three, 2x for four, 8x for five
- Bell: 1x, 1.8x, 6x
- Dice: 0.7x, 1.2x, 2.5x
- Spade / Heart: 0.5x, 1x, 2x
- Diamond / Club: 0.4x, 0.8x, 1.8x
- Cherry: 0.9x for three
- Bar: 0.8x for three
Wilds substitute for everything except the Scatter, Coin and jackpot token symbols, and they can form their own winning combinations too. Scatters pay anywhere on the reels, multiply by the total bet, and appear in the base game only.
Power Stacks™
Every spin, in the base game and in Free Spins, any symbol can come out Power Stacked, filling whole reels with copies of itself. In the base game that applies to everything except Scatters, Wilds and jackpot tokens. In Free Spins it narrows to Wilds and Coins only, which is a quietly useful restriction: the stacks there exist to serve the features, not the lines.
Links of Flame ULTRA Link&Win™ & Free Spins
ULTRA Link&win™ Feature
Land six or more Coin symbols anywhere on the reels and the feature fires. The triggering Coins lock in place, everything else clears, and you get three respins on a board of Coins and blanks. Every new Coin that lands is held and resets the respins back to three.
Each Cash Coin carries a random value from 0.5x up to 12x the total bet. The round ends when the respins run out, every position is filled, or the 10,000x transaction limit is hit, and all Coins are paid at the end. The feature can trigger in the base game and in Free Spins.
The Meter and Its Three Modes
Four or five Coins in the base game or Free Spins don’t trigger anything, but they aren’t wasted: they feed the ULTRA Link&win™ meter. Fill it to the relevant level and the next feature arrives upgraded.
- Max Mode: starts with all three additional rows active
- Multiplier Mode: three additional rows plus a guaranteed Persistent 2x Multiplier Booster Coin
- Collect Mode: three additional rows plus a guaranteed Persistent Cash Collect Booster Coin, and triggering it empties the meter
The mode is the point of the meter. A Max Mode round is a different game to a standard one, not just a bigger version of it, and near-misses of four or five Coins still move you towards something.
Booster Coins
Special Coins land during the feature and change what the respins can do:
- Persistent Cash Collect Booster Coin: sweeps up all Cash Collect Booster Coins and Cash Coins into a running total every spin, retriggers until the feature ends
- Cash Collect Booster Coin: collects the landed Persistent Cash Collect Coin and Cash Coins for that spin, up to three can land
- Persistent 2x Multiplier Booster Coin: randomly doubles up to four Cash Coins on every spin until the feature ends
- 2x Multiplier Booster Coin: doubles up to four Cash Coins for the current spin, up to three can land
- Unlock Booster Coin: activates one additional row, up to three in total
- Extra Chance Booster Coin: awards one free respin, and activates when respins hit zero
Only one of the two persistent Boosters can land in a round. None of them can touch the prize ladder: the jackpots are paid on their own terms.
Prize Coins and the Jackpot Ladder
Up to one of each Prize Coin can land during the feature, and each counts down once per spin. Complete the countdown before the respins end and the prize is yours at the end of the round:
- GRAND: 5,000x
- MAJOR: 500x
- MINOR: 50x
- MINI: 15x
Collection Pot Feature
The only place a jackpot token appears is reel five, one per spin, and it pays nothing itself. Every one that lands swells the Collection Pot, and each carries a random chance that the feature fires: a spin of the wheel for one of the four prizes on the ladder. Fire it and the pot empties back in the base game. It’s a second, slower road to the same jackpots the respins offer.
Free Spins
Three, four or five Scatters award 10 Free Spins. On every free spin, Wild or Coin symbols are Power Stacked, which tilts the round squarely towards the coin-collecting side of the game. There’s no retrigger: the round plays out automatically at the bet and lines of the triggering spin, and it can’t fire alongside the ULTRA Link&win™ feature.
Buy Feature
Where it’s available, the buy menu sells immediate entry into any version of the feature, with costs that update as you change your bet:
- ULTRA Link&win™: 40x bet
- Max Mode: 80x bet
- Multiplier Mode: 110x bet
- Collect Mode: 165x bet
The feature is played at the current bet, so what you’re buying is time rather than odds. Access can be limited above certain bet levels and isn’t offered in every region.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Most of a session here is embers rather than flame: small line wins, four or five Coins landing where six would do, each one ticking the meter up a level. The reason to choose it over a plainer paylines game is that the meter remembers those near-misses and converts them into a better round, instead of letting them evaporate.
The modes are the best thing about it, because an earned Collect or Multiplier round genuinely plays differently rather than just running longer. The cost is the reels in between: the top line pay is 8x, one spin in three wins anything, and the lines feel like fuel for the meter more than a game of their own.
It’s built for players who like watching a progress bar fill towards a named destination and don’t need the base reels to entertain them along the way; anyone who wants their returns through regular line wins will find them thin here. The coals are real, the pot is worth the patience, and the bowl rewards the feeding.
