Lots O’ Little Leprechauns Slot Review
Two small red-bearded leprechauns stand on floating clods of earth beside the reels, a cast-iron pot perched on its own grassy island to the right, and a treasure chest hangs in the sky above a thicket of oversized four-leaf clovers. Lots O’ Little Leprechauns from Blue Ring Studios hides its sharpest ideas behind one of the plainest paytables going: no five-of-a-kind here pays more than 1x, and everything that matters arrives as a modifier stacked on top of that. It’s a slot built almost entirely out of bonuses, and whether that works is the whole question.
It runs on a 5×3 grid with 2,000 ways, at 96.20% RTP with high volatility, and stakes from 0.20 to 80.00. A 1000x total bet prize sits at the top of the Lucky Wheel’s ladder, and a separate 1000x bonus is awarded on top of the held coins’ values if the board fills completely in the Lucky Spins Feature. It shares studio shelf space with Law of Athena, and the two could hardly look less alike.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay left to right across 2,000 ways, with each way costing a twentieth of the total bet. A way is a pattern of adjacent symbol positions running across the reels from the first one onwards, and a win is awarded when matching symbols land adjacent to each other in that pattern. Where multiple combinations land on a single way, only the highest one counts, and the total payout is the sum of all winning ways.
The symbols keep things familiar: lucky charms up top, card royals below. The paytable, as multiples of stake for three, four and five of a kind:
- Horseshoe – 0.4x, 0.6x, 1x
- Money Bag / Boot – 0.25x, 0.5x, 0.75x
- Pipe / Mushroom – 0.2x, 0.4x, 0.6x
- A, K, Q, J, 10 – 0.1x, 0.15x, 0.25x
The Leprechaun symbol is wild, appearing on reels two, three and four only, and it substitutes for everything except the Coin and Arrow symbols. Those two have jobs of their own: a Coin landing on the reels may trigger the feature round, while Arrows open the bonus wheel when they arrive in the right places. Neither pays directly.
Lucky Spots Bonuses
The middle positions on reels two, three and four are Lucky Spots. Every wild that lands on one awards a random bonus, and several can fire on a single spin. Wins aren’t paid until all bonuses have been applied, which is where the excitement lives.
- A multiplier of x2, x3 or x5 applied to all wins through the triggered Lucky Spot, available from the first spin
- The triggered reel transformed entirely into wilds, available from the first spin
- Three to five extra wilds added to random positions on reels two to four, unlocking on spin 10
- Additional winning symbols or wilds added to random positions, unlocking on spin 30
- All A, K, Q, J and 10 symbols transformed into higher-paying symbols, unlocking on spin 70
- Three of the above bonuses awarded at random, with multipliers added together, unlocking on spin 150
The added-symbol bonuses follow their own rules. Non-wild symbols added by the spin-30 bonus always match a symbol already forming a winning combination, so they land where they’ll extend an existing win rather than scattering at random. The extra symbols replace whatever was in those positions, and any added wild that lands on a Lucky Spot triggers a further bonus of its own. One wild in the right place can therefore cascade into several.
A counter at the top right of the screen ticks down by one each spin, and when it hits zero a new bonus type unlocks. If more types remain to be unlocked, the counter resets and starts counting down again; once the spin-150 bonus is in the pool, it disappears. The coin pot filling up on the right side is decoration only; it has no bearing on when anything triggers.
Lots O’ Little Leprechauns Bonus Features & Free Spins
Lucky Spins Feature
A Coin symbol landing on the reels may trigger the Lucky Spins Feature, awarding 10 free spins and three Lucky Spots placed at random before the first spin. Inside the round, only Coin symbols and blank positions appear on the reels, and each coin carries a multiplier of 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 5x or 10x.
Coins that land are held in place until the feature ends, when every displayed multiplier is multiplied by the total bet and paid out. Fill every position with held coins and the round ends on the spot, with an additional 1000x total bet prize on top. That full board is the game’s top award.
Landing a coin on a Lucky Spot applies one of these bonuses:
- A 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier applied to the triggering coin and two to four other coins
- The triggering coin’s value added to all other held coins
- The value of all other held coins added to the triggering coin
- Three additional spins
- Three to five coins added to random empty positions
- Two empty positions transformed into new Lucky Spots
The two value-transfer bonuses mirror each other: one grows the triggering coin from the rest of the board, the other spreads the triggering coin’s value across it. Either can fire repeatedly, since every new coin landing on a Lucky Spot rolls another bonus. Extra spins and extra Lucky Spots keep the round moving while the transfers build the totals, and coins seeded into empty positions can themselves land the transfers that grow them further.
Lucky Wheel
Arrow symbols landing in the middle positions of reels one and five trigger the Lucky Wheel. One spin awards a prize of 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x, 10x, 20x, 50x, 100x, 500x or 1000x the total bet, or triggers the Lucky Spins Feature instead.
The ladder is wide for a two-symbol trigger, and the bottom steps are modest: the first three prizes are smaller than the five-of-a-kind horseshoe win. What the wheel really offers is a second route into the feature round, plus the only shot at 1000x that doesn’t require filling the entire board with held coins.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Most of a session here is spent waiting for a wild to stop in the middle of a reel, and that’s a better way to pass the time than it sounds. That one event decides whether a spin pays peanuts or chains into something worth watching, and it’s the reason somebody would pick this over the dozens of other clover-and-charm slots out there.
The Lucky Spins round is the best thing in the game, because the value transfers give it a compounding quality most collect rounds lack: a coin landing on a Lucky Spot can grow the rest of the board, so a good round builds on itself instead of simply adding up. The weakness is what’s underneath it all. The paytable has no punch of its own, and the earliest stretch, before the deeper unlocks arrive, is thin going.
This is one for players who enjoy watching a system warm up across a long session, and it will frustrate anyone who wants their returns to start with the base game rather than arrive as a bonus on top of it. The gold is at the bottom of the clover thicket; the little fellas just make you dig for it.
