Love Nest Slot Review
Suburban decay has rarely been painted this lovingly: a pink clapboard house choked with cobwebs, a hand-lettered LOVE NEST sign with DECAY stencilled beneath it, a porch lounger in lingerie with blood-streaked legs, wine glass in hand, lawn signs reading NO KIDS and FREE BOOZE.
That’s the welcome mat to a decaying cul-de-sac at dusk, rendered in lush, grimy photoreal horror-comedy, and it tells you where Shady Lady are taking this one. Love Nest runs a 5×5 grid at 96.9% RTP, with Bonus Boost settings running as low as 96%. It shares the studio’s taste for the grotesque with Devil’s Finger and Brainwashed; Orphan Organ and Sew cover similar ground. The nest is rotting nicely. Time to see what’s living under it.

Base Game & Features
Love Nest plays out on a 5×5 grid, with wins evaluated as multiples of the total bet. The frame is a black stone wall topped with turf, moss and hanging ivy, and the grid itself sits dark and web-covered before the symbols arrive. The paytable is a body-part affair, and it’s a flat one.
Even the top symbol, the head and brain, only returns 1.5x the stake for a five-symbol hit. Below that, the values step down through severed anatomy and hardware to bric-a-brac worth fractions of the stake.
- Head/Brain – 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 1.5x for five
- Torso, red body part – 0.4x, 0.8x, 1x
- Hand/Claw – 0.4x, 0.6x, 0.9x
- Pink organ/body part – 0.3x, 0.5x, 0.8x
- Hammer – 0.2x, 0.3x, 0.6x
- Can/Jar – 0.2x, 0.3x, 0.5x
- Skull/Mask – 0.1x, 0.3x, 0.5x
- Fish hook/Rope – 0.1x, 0.2x, 0.4x
Those numbers tell you the base paytable isn’t where the money lives. Everything above roughly half a stake for a five-of-a-kind is a rarity. The whole economic weight of the game sits on the feature chain instead.
Wilds don’t land from the reels. They’re manufactured: every cell of a Buried Box that The Critter reaches turns wild, which makes the wild count a product of the feature chain rather than a symbol in its own right.
Oversized Buried Boxes of varying shapes can land at the bottom of the grid at any time. A sealed box pays nothing at all. If The Critter reaches one, every cell it carves through turns wild.
On the widest boxes it can only carve one way through, so only part of the box converts. Boxes may also arrive with Moths sitting on them, and those are paid out too if The Critter gets there. A wide, Moth-covered box that’s only half-carved is the compromise the shapes force.
Love Nest Bonus Features: The Critter, Vortexes and Moths
The Critter
The Critter can appear on any spin or cascade once there are no more wins. It emerges from the ground and carves a path cell by cell, heading straight for a Buried Box if one is present, or in a random direction if there isn’t.
It’s a lazy creature, and it can abort its carving before reaching anything at all. That makes every run an open question rather than a guaranteed payout. A carving aimed at a loaded box can simply stop, and a stopped Critter pays for nothing it swallowed along the way.
Meat Eating Vortexes & Multiplier Moths
Every high-value body part symbol The Critter swallows tears open a Meat Eating Vortex. A vortex sucks in any symbol from above in its reel, plus up to an additional 50 meat symbols dropped in from outside the grid.
Each high-value body part that gets sucked in converts into a Multiplier Moth, and each Moth is added to a global multiplier that applies to any winnings. Each vortex also carries the chance of spawning one to three special Red Moths, and a Red Moth doesn’t add to the global multiplier. It doubles it.
That doubling is the engine of the game’s upside. A vortex that feeds well can stack Moths into the multiplier, and a single Red Moth at the right moment squares the work of everything before it. Two Red Moths in one chain quadruples it.
The order of operations matters too. Because the Moths come from symbols swallowed and sucked in, a carving that passes through a cluster of high-value body parts is worth far more than the same carving through lows, even before any box is reached.

Ground Tremor
The fifth entry on the feature list is a Ground Tremor, and nothing more than the name is given about what it does. Treat it as part of the ambient churn of the base game rather than a headline attraction.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Most sessions here are quiet ones. The reels cough up crumbs while you wait for the ground to open, and the whole appeal is that run towards a loaded box – the one moment a game this sleazy on the surface plays like a patient fisherman.
The Red Moth is the best idea in the build: doubling rather than adding turns a stacked multiplier into something that can genuinely spike instead of creeping upward. The flat paytable is the cost. With the top symbol paying 1.5x, everything the creature doesn’t touch is dead weight, and a lazy abort can throw away a whole run’s work in one shrug.
It’s for players who like one long build with a grimy joke attached, the Devil’s Finger crowd especially. Anyone after steady returns from the reels themselves will go hungry in this cul-de-sac. The porch light’s still on, though, and for the patient type the moths make it worth knocking.
Love Nest FAQs
-
What is the RTP of Love Nest?
Love Nest runs at 96.9% RTP in its default configuration. Bonus Boost modes raise the total bet to 1.5x the base bet while wins evaluate at the base bet, and those settings run at lower RTPs of between 96% and 96.3%. -
What is the grid size of Love Nest?
Love Nest plays on a 5×5 grid. Wins are evaluated as multiples of the total bet rather than on fixed paylines. -
When is Love Nest released?
Love Nest’s release date is 15 October 2026. -
Who makes Love Nest?
Love Nest is made by Shady Lady, the studio behind titles including Devil’s Finger, Brainwashed and Sew. -
How does The Critter trigger in Love Nest?
The Critter shows up on any spin or cascade that has finished producing wins, then tunnels out of the ground and starts carving a path cell by cell. It heads straight for a Buried Box if there’s one on the grid, and otherwise picks a direction at random. It’s also lazy by nature and may give up before it gets anywhere. -
What do Red Moths do in Love Nest?
Red Moths are special symbols that can spawn from a Meat Eating Vortex. Instead of adding to the global multiplier like a standard Multiplier Moth, a Red Moth doubles it, which is where the game’s biggest multiplier jumps come from. -
Can Buried Boxes pay out in Love Nest?
Not while they’re sealed. An oversized box parked at the bottom of the grid is inert until The Critter carves into it, at which point each cell it reaches becomes a wild. Very wide boxes only get carved from one side, so part of the box can stay dead, and any Moths resting on a reached box are handed over as well. -
What do Meat Eating Vortexes do in Love Nest?
A Meat Eating Vortex opens up whenever The Critter swallows a high-value body part. It pulls in every symbol above it in the reel along with up to 50 extra meat symbols dropped in from outside, and each high-value body part consumed this way becomes a Multiplier Moth on the global multiplier.
