Join brave explorer Lucy Luck as she springs back into action for another treasure-hunting experience, packed with collapsing symbols, hidden rewards, and plenty of coins waiting to be discovered. Every win helps Lucy charge her meter, unlocking bursts of Coins & Wilds that steadily push the Multiplier higher as the action unfolds. In addition, the Free Spins mode carries progress across each spin, exposing Lucy’s most valuable treasures worth up to 20,000x your bet.
Slotmill has quite a reputation for delivering inventive & highly engaging slots, consistently blending clever mechanics with satisfying themes & aesthetics. Titles like Brew Brothers have set the bar high for what players now expect from the studio, but will Lucy Luck and the Quest for Coins keep that momentum & prove Slotmill’s winning formula still has plenty left in the tank…
Base Game & Features
Consisting of 6 reels & 6 rows, Lucy Luck and the Quest for Coins revives the Cluster Pays mechanic. Wins occur when 5-18 identical symbols land horizontally or vertically adjacent across the grid.
Lucky Luck is the highest-paying symbol, followed by the Notebook, Binoculars, Compass, Knife, and 4 Gems. Once the grid settles, each winning cluster awards a fixed payout between 0.1x and 200x your bet. Other symbols include Wilds, which substitute for all symbols except Scatters.
After a winning cluster is confirmed, each winning instance is removed via the Avalanche Feature, including all non-winning symbols of the same type. This creates additional space for new symbols to drop in from above.
At the start of each spin, each paytable symbol has a Block behind it. Blocks are destroyed by winning symbols within a cluster, or by Scatters & Extra Spin icons.
Coin Clusters
Throughout gameplay, Coin symbols, with a random Multiplier between 1x and 500x your bet, can appear across the grid. When 5 or more Coin symbols form a cluster, their Multipliers are added together, multiplied by the bet amount.
Once all wins are paid out, the Coin Cluster explodes, and a new Coin with a total combined Multiplier is generated in one of the empty cell positions. Please note that Coin Clusters do not generate Wilds.
Collect Meter
Situated to the right of the grid is a special Collect Meter, which is available in both the base game and Free Spins mode. Each winning cluster is added to the Collect Meter, progressing it by +1 step.
After 30 winning symbols are collected, the Collect Meter activates, adding Coins & Wilds to the grid and increasing the Win Multiplier by +x1. After activation, the Collect Meter resets to 0. If the Collect Meter is overcharged to 60, additional Coin & Wild symbols are added to the grid.
After the Overcharge Feature triggers, the meter is reduced by 60. In the base game, the Collect Meter is reset between spins. Finally, landing a Charge symbol increases the Collect Meter by +5 steps.
Multiplier Boost Feature
Alternatively, triggering the Multiplier Boost Feature can be randomly triggered at the start of each base game spin. Once active, the Collect Meter is instantly filled with 30-60 Charges, and the progressive Win Multiplier increases by a random value before the Collect Meter triggers.
Treasure Chests
During each spin, 1 or more Treasure Chests are hidden beneath Blocks across the grid. Each winning cluster destroys its existing Block, revealing a partial or full Treasure Chest. Once uncovered, the Treasure Chest will award any of the following Power-Ups:
- Earth Mask: Adds 7-20 Charges to the Collect Meter (as indicated on the mask)
- Fire Mask: Adds a Multiplier between 1x and 3x your bet to the Win Multiplier
- Water Mask: Adds 2-5 Wilds to random grid positions
- Lightning Mask: Adds 3-5 Coin symbols to random grid positions
- Scatter: Adds a single Scatter symbol to the Bonus Collect meter
- Extra Spin: Awards +1 Free Spin during the Free Spins & Super Free Spins mode
Lucy Luck and the Quest for Coins: Free Spins
When a Scatter symbol hits, it is added to the Bonus Collect Meter. Collecting 3 Scatters in the same spin triggers the Free Spins mode, awarding 8 Free Spins. Once active, all removed Blocks are carried over between sessions.
In this mode, when all Treasure Chests are unlocked from behind winning symbols, the grid resets with new Blocks & Treasure Chests hidden in random locations. In addition, the Collect Meter progress & Win Multiplier do not reset until the end of the feature.
Landing an Extra Spin symbol awards +1 Free Spin. After this, the Extra Spin symbol is removed from the grid, unlocking the Block position behind it. Alternatively, landing a Super Scatter symbol during this time upgrades the current mode to Super Free Spins, awarding an additional +2 Free Spins.
Super Free Spins
Failing to upgrade the original Free Spins mode, the Super Free Spins feature can be triggered in the base game by landing 4 Scatters, awarding 8 Free Spins. In this mode, all non-winning Coin symbols accumulate at the bottom of the grid after each spin until the end of the session.
Xtra Bet & Bonus Buy
Players may purchase any of the following Xtra Bet & Bonus Buy options:
- Xtra Bet: Each spin is 4.1 times more likely to trigger a Free Spins mode for 100% of your current bet (RTP 96.15%)
- Super Xtra Bet: Offers a 1/50 chance for either Free Spins mode, 1/92 chance for Super Free Spins, and 1/110 chance for Free Spins for 7x your bet (RTP 96.19%)
- Multiplier Boost: Each spin begins with a random Win Multiplier and Collect Meter progress for 40x your bet (RTP 96.21%)
- Free Spins: Guaranteed entry into the Free Spins mode for 100x your bet (RTP 96.35%)

- Gamble: 30% (Super Free Spins), 30% (Free Spins), 40% (No Win) for 180x your bet (RTP 96.49%)
Lucy Luck and the Quest for Coins has a maximum win potential of 20,000x your bet. If a single mode achieves this, the player returns to the base game with the qualifying amount.
Our Honest Verdict
After following Lucy Luck on her travels in previous instalments, we were more than happy to join the fearless explorer once again for another treasure-filled adventure. While Lucy Luck and the Quest for Coins certainly ups the scale & ambition, does it stand as the most daring chapter in the series so far?
Structurally, this game stays true to its roots laid by its predecessors, sticking with the familiar 6-reel format that long-time fans will recognise. The most notable shift, however, comes in the form of pay mechanics, with Slotmill moving away from Scatter Pays and into the Cluster Pays mechanic, giving the game a more dynamic, cascading feel.
Just as important is the change in risk and reward. Lucy Luck and the Quest for Coins raises its overall appeal by offering a 20,000x max win potential, doubling the 10,000x cap seen in earlier instalments, ensuring this addition holds more depth in the growing series.
The steady destruction of Blocks plays a key role in unlocking hidden Treasure Chests, where multiple Mask Modifiers can be revealed, dramatically altering the outcome of each spin. Failing that, there is still plenty of potential available through the Collect Meter & Multiplier Coins, both of which are active in the base game and subsequent Free Spins modes.
All in all, Lucy Luck and the Quest for Coins is a confident evolution of the series, promoting familiar ideas with smarter mechanics and stronger win potential, while staying true to what made Lucy’s adventures favourable with players.
