Mahjong Wins Super Scatter Slot Review
Before a hand of mahjong starts, everybody washes the tiles: 144 of them pushed face-down around the table by hand, in a clatter you can hear from the street. It’s the loudest part of a game that’s otherwise all patience and quiet arithmetic.
Mahjong Wins Super Scatter keeps the tiles and skips the patience. It’s a low volatility 5×5 grid with a 96.5% RTP and a ceiling of 100,000x your bet, which is a long way above where Pragmatic Play usually set one.
The Super Scatter half of the name is the part that matters, and anyone who’s spun Gates of Olympus Super Scatter already knows the shape of it: a premium scatter that pays on its own terms rather than only opening a door.
Underneath sits the tumbling, multiplier-stacking engine that runs Sweet Bonanza and Sugar Rush. Whether mahjong tiles give it anything the fruit and the candy didn’t is the real question.
Base Game & Features
The grid is 5×5 and it pays by ways rather than lines. Any adjacent run of matching tiles starting from the leftmost reel counts, up to a maximum of 2,000 ways.
Tile values are deliberately small. At the stake the game’s own rules screen uses, five green 發 tiles return 2.5x the total bet for each winning way, five red 中 return 2x, and the bamboo tiles at the bottom of the table pay 0.3x.
Wins on multiple ways are added together, so a large total comes from stacking ways and multipliers rather than from any single tile. The WILD is a gold ingot, lands on reels 2, 3 and 4 only, and substitutes for everything except the SCATTER.
Tumbles and Multipliers
Every spin runs the TUMBLE FEATURE. Winning combinations pay and disappear, the tiles above drop into the gaps, and new ones fill in from the top until a drop produces no win.
A multiplier tracks along the top of the reels while it happens, moving to 2x after the first tumble, 3x after the second and 5x after the third. From the fourth tumble onwards it holds at 5x, and it resets once the sequence ends.
Gold Symbols
Standard paying tiles can turn up marked in gold at random, again restricted to reels 2, 3 and 4. A gold tile that forms part of a winning combination converts into a WILD for the following tumble, which is how a modest first hit extends into a chain.
The Super Scatter
The SUPER SCATTER shares reels 2, 3 and 4 with the wilds. It counts towards the three-scatter combinations that start the free spins, and it also pays a fixed share of the total bet on its own:
- 1 SUPER SCATTER in a combination of 3 or more: 50x total bet
- 2 SUPER SCATTERS: 500x total bet
- 3 SUPER SCATTERS: 5,000x total bet
- 4 SUPER SCATTERS in a combination of 4 or more: 100,000x total bet
That last line is the game’s maximum win, and it’s a base game event. The cap applies across both game modes: if a round reaches 100,000x it ends there and then, and any free spins still owed are forfeited.
Mahjong Wins Super Scatter Free Spins
Three or more SCATTER symbols of any kind start the round, whether they’re ordinary scatters or SUPER SCATTERS. It opens at 10 free spins, with 2 more added for every scatter beyond the third, and special reels come into play for the duration.
Reel 3 turns entirely gold. Because gold tiles that land in a win convert to wilds on the next tumble, the middle reel stops being an occasional source of wilds and becomes a constant one.
The multiplier ladder is steeper as well. Wins begin at 2x and climb to 4x, 6x and 10x with each tumble, hold at 10x from the fourth tumble onwards, then reset to 2x once the sequence finishes.
Landing another three or more scatters retriggers the round for 10 further spins, plus the usual 2 for each scatter beyond the third. One thing the round doesn’t contain is the SUPER SCATTER, which is absent from start to finish.
Bonus Buy
A BUY FREE SPINS button sits to the left of the reels for anyone who’d rather not wait for the scatters.
- Buy Free Spins: 100x the current total bet
- The triggering spin lands 3, 4 or 5 SCATTER symbols at random, so the number of free spins you start with varies
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Pragmatic have spent years bolting new prize structures onto the same tumbling reels, and the Super Scatter line is the most direct of those attempts: a symbol that pays like a jackpot instead of a door key.
Mahjong Wins Super Scatter is that idea with the volume up. Tiles pay so little on their own that the base game is really a wait for gold to land on the middle reels and start a chain, with the multiplier ladder doing the rest of the work.
Free spins are the sensible route. A permanently gold reel 3 and a ladder topping out at 10x give the round a floor that the base game hasn’t got.
The oddity is the buy. Paying 100x for the bonus removes the only thing capable of paying 100,000x, because the SUPER SCATTER never shows up once the round begins. Buy it and you’ve bought the smaller half of the game.
It’s one for low volatility players who get on with the Pragmatic engine and want a top prize that arrives all at once. The clatter’s all in the base game; the free spins play quiet.
Mahjong Wins Super Scatter FAQs
-
What is the RTP of Mahjong Wins Super Scatter?
The theoretical RTP is 96.5%, which sits right around the industry average. It’s paired with low volatility, so returns are weighted towards a steady drip of small hits rather than infrequent large ones. -
What is the maximum win on Mahjong Wins Super Scatter?
The maximum win is 100,000x your bet, and the same cap applies in the base game and the free spins. If a round reaches it, that round ends immediately and any free spins still outstanding are forfeited. -
How do you trigger the free spins?
Hit three or more SCATTER symbols in a combination of any kind. That awards 10 free spins, with 2 extra spins added for every scatter beyond the third. The round can be retriggered by landing three or more scatters again, for another 10 spins plus the same extras. -
What does the SUPER SCATTER do?
It appears on reels 2, 3 and 4, counts towards triggering the free spins, and pays on its own. One SUPER SCATTER in a combination of three or more pays 50x the total bet, two pay 500x, three pay 5,000x, and four in a combination of four or more pay 100,000x. -
Can you buy the bonus on Mahjong Wins Super Scatter?
Yes. BUY FREE SPINS costs 100x your current total bet and starts the round instantly, with the triggering spin landing 3, 4 or 5 scatters at random. Worth knowing before you press it: the SUPER SCATTER doesn’t appear during free spins, so a bought round can’t reach the 100,000x top prize. -
How do the tumble multipliers work?
In the base game the win multiplier moves to 2x, 3x and then 5x after each successive tumble, holding at 5x from the fourth tumble on. During free spins it starts at 2x and climbs to 4x, 6x and 10x, holding at 10x. Either way it resets when the tumbles stop. -
What are the minimum and maximum bets?
Stakes run from 0.20 up to 240 per spin, wide enough to cover low-stakes play and high rollers on the same game. The bonus buy is priced at 100x whatever total bet you’ve set, so it scales with your stake. -
How many ways to win does Mahjong Wins Super Scatter have?
Up to 2,000. Wins are awarded for adjacent matching tiles running left to right from the leftmost reel on the 5×5 grid, and wins on multiple ways are added together to form the total for that tumble.
