After Cat Clans came a series of games, including Masters of Valhalla and our personal favourite, Pile ‘Em Up, which was one of the lucky few that transpired into a sequel, but fast forward to now, and we find ourselves indulging in Massive Christmas MaXXed – a Classic, feel-good slot with all the Christmas bells & whistles.
The classic, old-school theme has become a signature style for Snowborn Games, but it hasn’t always been the case. If you look at their first few releases, you’ll see quite a variety of themes, before Pile ‘Em Up came in & changed everything.

Base Game & Features
Massive Christmas MaXXed is the latest Christmas-themed slot from Snowborn Games, featuring 5 reels, 3 rows, and 20 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations occur when 3-5 matching symbols land across connecting pay lines, starting from reel 1.
The highest-paying symbol is the Snowballs, followed by the Chocolates, Bells, Cherries, and A, K, Q, & J card ranks. Once a win evaluation takes place on the reels, a fixed payout between 0.2x and 15x your bet is awarded.
In addition, Wild symbols, in the form of Snowglobes, are persistent on all reels in the base game & Xmas Spins, substituting for all symbols except Scatter, Gold Bar, MaXXed Prize, & 1UP symbols.
Collect Feature
During each game session, Cash Prizes between 0.2x and 50x your bet can appear on reels 1-4, in addition to MaXXed symbols with a value between 3x and 50x your bet. Their values are essentially worthless until they are in the presence of a Collect symbol, which appears on reel 5.
Having a Collect symbol and at least 1 Cash Prize/MaXXed symbol land in the same spin triggers the Collect Feature, whereby all available values are collected & applied to the total win of that spin. After collection, the total value is multiplied by the current Gold Booster.
Gold Booster
The Gold Booster is only available in the base game. As mentioned above, the current value of the Gold Booster is applied to all Cash Prize/MaXXed symbols during the Collect Feature.
The Multiplier begins at x1 and increases by +x1 for every 1UP symbol that appears on the reels, up to a maximum of x10. Once the current Multiplier has been applied, it will reset to x1. Please note that the Gold Booster does not apply to standard pay line wins.
MaXXed Spins Feature
Collecting a MaXXed symbol across all 5 reels over one or more spins will trigger the MaXXed Spins Feature, awarding 2 Free Spins & and a chance to gain more by landing the +1 symbol.
Once active, the Gold Booster is replaced by a new multiplier trail, MaXXed Booster, which begins at x1 and can increase to a maximum of x50 through the collection of 1UP symbols.
During this feature, each collected Cash Prize or MaXXed symbol is multiplied by the current value of the MaXXed Booster. The feature ends when no Free Spins remain, after which players will return to the base game with the total win applied.
Bonus Game
The additional Bonus Feature may randomly trigger each time a Cash Prize appears on the reels. Once active, 3 Bonus Spins are awarded. In this mode, there are 3 types of symbols available: Cash Prize, MaXXed, & Jackpot symbols.
Throughout spins, if any of these symbols land in view, they will reset the Bonus Spins to 3. Cash Prizes will remain in their current positions until the end of the feature. The additional Special symbols include: Mini (30x), Minor (100x), Major (500x), and Mega (5,000x).
The first 2 Jackpot Prizes that land will be removed from the reels once they are collected. Otherwise, the 3rd Jackpot Prize will be marked as ‘won’, but it remains in view until the end of the feature.
The feature ends when there are no positions to be filled or no Bonus Spins left in play. Filling the entire grid with symbols will result in an instant payout of 5,000x your bet (Mega Jackpot).
Massive Christmas MaXXed: Free Spins
Triggering the Free Spins session requires 3 Xmas Scatters to land on reels 1, 3, & 5 in the base game, awarding 10 Free Spins.
Once active, a special Xmas Booster takes the place of the Golden Booster, which begins at x1 and can achieve up to x50 during this feature. Enhancing the Xmas Booster is achieved by landing 1UP symbols on the reels.
Once the Xmas Booster reaches a new Multiplier Level, an additional +3 Free Spins are awarded. If a Collect symbol appears on reel 5, the available Cash Prize/MaXXed symbols are collected, after being multiplied by the current Xmas Booster & added to the Total Counter.
Bonus Buy
Players within eligible markets can purchase the MaXXed Spins Feature, with an active Multiplier between x1 and x50, for an additional 100x your bet (RTP 96.33%). If the maximum win potential of 7,500x your bet is achieved, the current mode ends, and the player returns to the base game with the qualifying amount.
Our Honest Verdict
With Christmas growing closer by the day, the iGaming market has already started to fade out Halloween releases in favour of Christmas slots, and we couldn’t be happier. Next on our list is Massive Christmas MaXXed, courtesy of Snowborn Games, which decorates the iconic classic theme with festive aesthetics & soundscapes, but is it too much or not enough?
The base game is home to a Gold Booster, Cash Collection, & several Bonus Features, with the appearance of 1UP symbols from previous releases. Unlike the Pile ‘Em Up series, the 1UP symbols here take on multiple roles throughout gameplay.
The Gold Booster & both Multiplier Trails in the Bonus Features require 1UP symbols to increase their current Multiplier values. The Gold Booster is your standard trail in the base game, which multiplies the total value of Cash/MaXXed Prizes, that are part of the Collect Feature, by a maximum of x10.
While there is one noticeable difference between the MaXXed Feature & Bonus Game, where one has Jackpot Prizes & the other does not, they’re closely related in all aspects, so we’re not entirely sure why a separate feature was needed just for that.
In Free Spins, the Xmas Booster maintains the same functions as the individual Boosters found in the MaXXed Feature & Bonus Game, only this time, each new Multiplier Level awards +3 Free Spins for your troubles.
If you were hoping to skip the grind & take the MaXXed Feature, Bonus Game, & Free Spins mode out for a spin sooner, you’ll be disappointed with the available Bonus Buy options, of which there is one. Non-UK players will be happy with this if they are only looking to play the MaXXed Spins Feature; otherwise, you’ll have to grind the base game like the rest of us to see the others in action.
All in all, Massive Christmas MaXXed doesn’t leave you feeling overly festive, but the 7,500x maximum win potential and feature-rich gameplay will certainly put you in a jolly mood.
