Massive Gold MAXXED Slot Review
A giant golden X rises over a synthwave city skyline, wreathed in ghosted multiplier text, with a bevelled gold reel frame standing in front of it like a cabinet from an arcade that only exists in 1986. Massive Gold MAXXED is the loudest-looking slot you’ll meet this year, and yet almost none of its money lives where slots usually keep it. The paytable is an afterthought; the real game is the gold symbols waiting on the reels to be collected and multiplied.
Snowborn Games built it as part of a family that already includes Massive Gold, Massive Gold Power Staxx and Massive Christmas MaXXed. It runs on a 5×3 grid with 20 fixed paylines, pays out at 96.00% RTP, sits at medium volatility, and takes stakes from 0.2 to 30.00 a spin.
Base Game & Features
Wins run left to right across 20 fixed paylines, and only the highest combination on each line pays. Coinciding wins on different lines add together. Standard stuff, and not where this game keeps its interest.
All wins are multiplied by the total bet, so the paytable scales with your stake, and if several combinations land on one line only the highest counts. The game is played with credits only.
Wilds appear in the base game and the Free Spins feature, form their own winning combinations, and substitute for everything except Free Spins, Gold Bar, Collect, Maxxed, Prize, +1 and 1UP symbols.
The paytable, for what it’s worth, is modest:
- Dollar Sign / 777 – 2x, 5x, 15x for three, four, five
- Bell / Dice – 1.3x, 2.6x, 7x
- A – 0.4x, 1x, 2.4x
- K – 0.3x, 0.7x, 1.8x
- Q – 0.2x, 0.6x, 1.2x
- J – 0.2x, 0.5x, 1x
Two symbols matter far more than any of those. Gold Bar symbols land on all five reels carrying values between 0.2x and 50x the total bet, and Maxxed symbols appear on all reels with values from 3x to 50x bet. They don’t pay where they sit. They wait to be collected.
Collect Wins & Gold Booster
The Collect symbol lands on reel 5 only, in the base game and in Free Spins. When it does, it awards the total value of every Gold Bar and Maxxed symbol on screen, multiplied by the value of the relevant feature booster.
In the base game that booster is the Gold Booster. It starts at 1x and climbs by 1x for every 1UP symbol that lands, up to a ceiling of 10x. Once it’s applied, it resets to 1x. It never touches payline wins – it multiplies the collect total only.
The Trigger Symbol Economy
Beyond the collect loop, three other symbols drive everything. Free Spins symbols are scatters paying scattered, Maxxed symbols on all five reels build towards the feature the game is named for, and a Gold Bar on any reel can randomly fire the Bonus. The reels are busier than the paytable suggests.
Massive Gold MAXXED Bonuses & Free Spins
Free Spins
Three Free Spins symbols scattered on reels 1, 3 and 5 award 10 free spins. A multiplier trail called the Free Spins Booster sits above the reels, starting at 1x and climbing to a maximum of 50x, one 1UP symbol at a time.
Each time the trail reaches a new multiplier level, three extra spins are added. When a Collect symbol lands on reel 5, the total of all Gold Bar and Maxxed symbols on screen is multiplied by the current booster value and paid into the total counter. Payline wins still pay as normal alongside.
Bet and lines stay the same as the triggering spin, and neither the Bonus nor Maxxed Free Spins can trigger inside the round. It runs until the spins are gone.
Maxxed Free Spins
This is the feature the whole game is built to sell. Collecting a Maxxed symbol on each of the five reels triggers it, and the collection carries across multiple spins, so every Maxxed symbol that lands anywhere moves you closer.
The round starts with just two spins. Landing +1 symbols adds more. The Maxxed Booster trail runs from 1x to 50x via 1UP symbols, and on every spin the values of all Gold Bar and Maxxed symbols that land are multiplied by the current booster level and paid immediately.
Bonus Feature
The Bonus can fire at random whenever a Gold Bar symbol lands on any reel. It starts with three bonus spins and an empty grid, which fills with Gold Bar, Maxxed and Prize symbols. Any symbol that lands resets the spin counter back to three.
Gold Bars lock in place until the round ends. Prize symbols feed a meter for each of the four jackpots; the first two collected for a given prize are removed from the reels, and the third locks on and claims it:
- Mini – 30x bet
- Minor – 100x bet
- Major – 500x bet
- Mega – 5,000x bet
Fill every position on the grid and the Mega prize of 5,000x bet is awarded outright. The round ends when spins run out or the grid fills, and the total pays at the end – all Gold Bar and Maxxed values on the reels plus any prize wins.
Maxxed Feature Buy
A buy button sits bottom-left of the base game screen. It costs 100x the total bet, plays at your current stake, and instantly triggers Maxxed Free Spins. The buy runs at its own RTP of 96.33%, fractionally above the base game’s 96.00%.
It’s base-game only, it isn’t available above a certain bet threshold, and it doesn’t affect the Maxxed Booster itself – you still have to build the multiplier once you’re inside.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Most of a session here is watching gold stack up and hoping reel 5 cooperates. That’s the whole reason to pick it: the neon vault looks expensive, but the pleasure is bookkeeping – counting Gold Bars, chasing 1UPs, waiting for the Collect.
Its best trick is the Bonus, where every landing resets the counter to three, so a hot streak can stretch a “three-spin” round into something long and lucrative. Its worst is Maxxed Free Spins: two starting spins and a 1x multiplier mean the headline round usually arrives undercooked, and the 100x buy buys you that same thin opening.
It’s a good fit for players who enjoy a slow build and a collect loop to lean on, and a poor one for anyone who wants a bonus to deliver the moment it lands. The gold here rewards patience, and the vault pays best to those willing to count along with it.
