Masters of Valhalla Slot Review 2024
Dust off your best Viking outfit and prepare to fight tooth and nail for those godly big wins, in Microgaming partner, Snowborn Studios latest release, Masters of Valhalla!
In Norse Mythology, Valhalla is a beautiful yet gigantic hall located in Asgard that is ruled by the God Odin. It is said that those who are killed in battle, travel to Valhalla upon death led by Valkyries to be with the legendary God Odin. It is rumored that the ceiling of Valhalla is etched with Golden Shields.
Snowborn Studios last release Cat Clans became quite popular amongst players and still very much is to this day. Like Cat Clans, we are optimistic that Masters of Valhalla will do just as well.
The theme for Masters of Valhalla is one we have come across before in many other slots, so what makes this particular title any better than the rest? Masters of Valhalla has a unique Wild God Repsins feature, along with an impressive Berserk Booster and a Valhalla Bonus round. In additon to this, Masters of Valhalla has a maximum win capacity of 20,000x, which is enough to get anyone in the mood to play!
In terms of design, Masters of Valhalla is looking pretty good. Snowborn Studios has opted for a cartoonish vibe here with plenty to feast your eyes upon. The background shows a snowy hilltop with the Golden gates to Valhalla on the left. All in all, Snowborn Studios has done a terrific job with the theme, but will the gameplay be as appealing?
Have you got what it takes to unlock the gates of Valhalla and take the glorious treasure for yourself? Let’s play on and find out!
Masters of Valhalla Betting and Symbols
Masters of Valhalla has quite selection of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £/€0.10 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £/€25 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. The maximum bet may not seem very high, but we feel that this will be sufficient enough for most players.
The highest paying regular symbols in Masters of Valhalla fall to a selection of God symbols. The God Odin has the highest pay value, followed by Freya, Thor and Hel symbols. Lower paying symbols fall to a selection of Rune symbols. The Yellow Rune symbol has the highest pay value, followed by the Green, Blue and Purple rune symbols.
Wild symbols substitute for all symbols except Scatters.
Masters of Valhalla Base Game and Features
Masters of Valhalla is a 5 reel slot with 1,024 Ways to win. In order to form a win you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.
The base game in Masters of Valhalla has a couple of really exciting features available. The Wild God Respins feature has 4 unique modifiers, one for each God symbol and can deliver plenty of fun and potential. In additon to this, Masters of Valhalla has a Berserk Booster feature that takes a little bit of time to achieve, but gives you something to aim for whilst you play. More on these below.
Wild God Respins
During any base game spin, Wild symbols can land in 4 different colours. These colours represent the 4 God symbols.
- Orange Wild symbol – Represents the Wild Odin Respin.
- Green Wild symbol – Represents the Wild Freya Respin.
- Blue Wild symbol – Represents the Wild Thor Respin.
- Purple Wild symbol – Represents the Wild Hel Respin.
Each time a Wild symbol lands, it will contribute towards filling the Chest on the left side of the screen. All Wild symbols collected can potentially trigger the Wild God Respins feature.
Once the Respin feature is active, the Wild symbol will become sticky and remain in its fixed position for the duration of the Respin. In addition to this, between 1 and 19 additional Wilds can be added to the reels and all God symbols will be replaced with the God matching the Wild symbol that triggered the Wild God Respins feature.
Berserk Booster
Each time a Scatter symbol lands in view on reels 1 and 3, it is collected and added to the Berserk Booster.
Filling the Berserk Booster will trigger the Valhalla Bonus, which awards an additonal +1 Free Spin in the Bonus round.
Once the Bonus round is complete, the Berserk Booster is reset back to 0.
The Berserk Booster levels are saved per bet, so you can rest easy knowing all your hard work is secure.
Masters of Valhalla Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5, triggers the Valhalla Bonus round, awarding 3 Free Spins. If you trigger the Valhalla Bonus round through the Berserk Booster, you will be awarded 4 Free Spins.
During the Valhalla Bonus round, landing Wooden or Golden Shields on the grid will reset the Free Spins back to 3, or 4 if you triggered the Valhalla Bonus round through the Berserk Booster. All higher and lower paying symbols are removed during the Bonus round, and special symbols come into play.
- Wooden Shields – Wooden Shield symbols land with a Multiplier between 1x and 9x. If a Wooden Shield Multiplier increases above 9x, it will automatically upgrade to a Golden Shield.
- Golden Shields – Golden Shields land with a Multiplier between 10x and 50x.
- Thor Symbol – Landing a Thor symbol triggers the Thor Reel Expansion feature and is equipped with a Multiplier between 1x and 9x. Once the Thor symbol lands, it will expand the reel one row down. If you land a second Thor symbol, it will expand the reels one position upwards. Thor symbols can land twice during the Bonus round.
- Freya Symbol – Freya symbols land with a Multiplier between 2x and 9x. The awarded Multiplier will multiply all symbols landing on that spin and any following spin.
- Hugin & Munin Symbol – Hugin & Munin symbols land with a Multiplier between 1x and 9x, which is added to all other symbols on the grid.
- Odin Symbol – Odin symbols land with a Multiplier between 1x and 9x, which is added to all other symbols on that spin and any following spin.
- Garmr Symbol – Garmr symbols award a Multiplier between 1x and 9x, which collects all symbol values once.
- Hel Symbol – Hel symbols come equipped with a Multiplier between 1x and 9x, which collects all symbol values on the grid for that spin and any following spin.
- Hot Spots – Hot Spots are randomly lit up during the Bonus round, which indicates an increased chance of landing any symbol other than a Wooden or Golden Shield.
The Valhalla Bonus round will end when no more symbols land in view or if all positions on the grid are filled. If the Valhalla Bonus round ends with all positions on the grid filled, an additional 500x your current bet will be awarded.
Masters of Valhalla Bonus Buy
For those outside of the UK, you may benefit from a Bonus Buy option.
The regular Valhalla Bonus can be purchased for 50x your current bet, but if you choose the Valhalla Bonus with the Berserk Booster unlocked, then this will cost a total of 100x your current bet.
When purchasing the Bonus rounds, the RTP increases slightly from 96.00% to 96.05% for the regular Valhalla Bonus and 96.18% for the Valhalla Bonus with the unlocked Berserk Booster.
Masters of Valhalla: Our Verdict
If you just can’t get enough of Snowborn Studios releases lately, you will be pleased with their latest offering, Masters of Valhalla. The theme itself is not unusual, but the way in which Snowborn Studios has bought it all together makes Masters of Valhalla pretty special in our eyes. We had high hopes for Masters of Valhalla, considering Snowborn Studios are the legends behind Cat Clans, and they have not disappointed us.
The Wild God Respins and Berserk Booster features are very nice additions to Masters of Valhalla, which brings a lot of fun and potential to the base game. Although the Valhalla Bonus round is pretty much a Hold & Win round, Snowborn Studios has put their heads together to make Masters of Valhalla unique in its own way with the use of special symbols and a handful of refreshing Modifiers.
In terms of statistics, Masters of Valhalla does not disappoint, with a bang on average RTP of 96.00% and an impressive 20,000x maximum win capacity. These statistics are identical to Snowborn Studios previous release, Cat Clans.
All in all, Masters of Valhalla is a breath of fresh air and a credit to Snowborn Studios expanding portfolio.
