Escape Bonus

During gameplay, landing 2 Scatter symbols across the reels will trigger the Escape Bonus. This will cause a riot to break out in the prison and up to 4 Prisoners will attempt to make their escape.

During the Escape Bonus, the round will start with up to 4 Prisoners positioned on the leftmost reel. All prisoner symbols will move from left to right, moving one reel position each round until they either reach the Safe Zone or get caught by the Police.

Prisoner symbols can only collect the Multiplier Power-ups that are in the Prisoner’s zone. Once any new Power-ups have been applied, between 1 and 4 Police Officers will appear in the police zone and catch at least 1 Prisoner.

Collecting a Multiplier during this time will boost the Prisoner’s win, but if you manage to collect 1 or more Scatter symbols, you will trigger the Mega Heist Bonus round.

Mega Heist Escape Bonus

Mega Heist Free Spins

Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatters across the reels triggers the Mega Heist Bonus, awarding 10, 15, and 30 Prisoners respectively. The Mega Heist bonus can also be triggered via the Escape Bonus as mentioned above.

During this round, there are 3 Levels available, each with a unique potential value to be won which are shown in the Bank Counter.

  • Level 1 – Up to 150x your current bet.
  • Level 2 – Up to 1,500x your bet.
  • Level 3 – Up to 15,000x your bet.

At the start of the round, the reel set will be divided into Prisoner Zones up to 4 reels, Police Zones above the reel set, and the Safe Zone on reel 5.  New Prisoners will only be added to the leftmost reel in the Prisoner Zone.

Each new Prisoner that is added will automatically be carrying a Multiplier Prize. This multiplier value will get deducted from the Bank Counter. If a Prisoner collects a Multiplier Power-up, this will also be deducted from the Bank Counter.

Each Prisoner will move from left to right as in the Escape Bonus, moving 1 reel over to a new position until they either reach the Safe Zone or are busted by the Police. When a Prisoner finally reaches the Safe Zone, he will be added back to the Prisoner Pool and can reappear in the Prisoner Zone.

Power-ups that are collected by Prisoner symbols will be activated immediately, with the exception of the Motorcycle or Bus which will activate at the end of the current turn. There are 6 types of special Power-ups in play during this time.

  • Multiplier Symbol – Awards a random Multiplier of x2, x3, x5, or x10 to the Prisoner’s Prize respectively.
  • Prisoner Symbol – Adds 1, 2, 3, or 5 Prisoners to the Prisoner Pool.
  • Disguise Symbol – The Prisoner will become disguised as a Police Officer and cannot be caught.
  • No Police Symbol – Police Officers will not appear in this round.
  • Motorcycle Symbol – Transports up to 2 Prisoners from its reel and drives them to the Safe Zone.
  • Bus Symbol – Transports up to 8 Prisoners from its reel and adjacent reels directly to the Safe Zone.

During any Level, when the Bank Counter reaches 0, all present Multiplier Power-ups will be transformed into Invisibility Power-ups. Once Power-ups have been applied, between 1 and 4 Police Officers will appear in the Police Zone and catch up to 4 Prisoners (1 per Police Officer).

Once the Bank Counter has reached 0, the Level you are currently on is complete and you will advance to the next available Level once all Prisoners in the Prisoner Zone reach the Safe Zone or are busted by the Police.

Once onto the next level, all Power-ups are removed from the Prisoner Zones and +3, +5, +7, +10, +15, or +30 new Prisoners are added to the Prisoner Pool.

The Mega Heist Bonus will end when there are no more Prisoners in the Prisoner Pool and across the reel set. During the third and final level, the Mega Heist Bonus may end when the Bank Counter reaches 0 and there are no more Prisoners on the reel set, even though the Prisoners Pool is not empty.

Mega Heist: Our Verdict

Mega Heist is an innovative little game from Relax Gaming. It loosely reminds us of Push Gaming’s Mad Cars in a way, but only in the sense that you need to ‘cross the finish line’ to get the win.

Through testing it ourselves we noticed how important constant momentum is in Mega Heist. The first level starts with ample prisoners, but if the police start picking them off then you’re in real trouble. Getting past the first level can be deceivingly hard, and progressing on from there can be even harder with the skeleton crew that carried over.

Once they’re all nicked, then the game is up and it’s back to the slammer, but Mega Heist seems entertaining enough to us that it’s worth another prison break.

Not all the bonuses ended with mega wins, and it starts off slow with limited potential in that first level, but we’re rather fond of it regardless. If you’re lucky enough to progress onwards, then you’ll see Mega Heist in all its majesty as you root for the freedom of good-for-nothing inmates.

Overall, Mega Heist definitely wasn’t what we expected, but we’re quite pleasantly surprised.
