Merlin’s Mania Demo
Merlin’s Mania Slot Review
Step into the magnificent world of Merlin’s Mania, where the legendary wizard Merlin returns with even greater magic, courtesy of Bullshark Games!
Merlin’s Mania is the follow-up to Merlin’s Alchemy – another from Bullshark that was released earlier this year. It was certainly enjoyable, but not quite a statement.
Merlin’s Mania hopes to up the ante, but Merlin will need to cast something quite magical to make it so.
Merlin’s Mania – Base Game
Base Game & Features
Merlin’s Mania is a 6-reel Video Slot featuring a Scatter Pays mechanic and varying bet sizes between £.€0.10 per spin and £.€100 per spin. This game is considered a medium volatility slot with an overall RTP of 96.31% and a generous max win cap of 12,000x your bet.
The grid displays 5 High and Low-paying symbols which trigger wins when 8 or more matching symbols appear anywhere on the grid. Depending on the symbol type, winning combinations produce wins between 0.4x and 400x your bet.
Due to the nature of the Scatter Pays mechanic, winning combinations are removed and replaced with new symbols via a Cascade Feature. This increases your chances of enhancing or creating additional wins in a single spin.
Global Multiplier
During gameplay, a special Global Multiplier starting at x1 is active. In the base game, the Global Multiplier will reset between spins. In Free Spins, its value is progressive until the end of the feature.
The Merlin symbol increases the Global Multiplier between +x1 and +x100 when it appears on the grid. Once the new value is applied, the Merlin symbol will be removed after it has participated in a win, with the ability to replace any paytable symbol.
Mystery Symbols
Between 2 and 30 Mystery symbols can appear on random positions of the grid and reveal the same special symbol from the following:
- High or Low-paying symbols
- Adder Wild: Increments the Global Multiplier between +x1 and +x100. It also replaces any paytable symbol in view before being removed from the grid after participating in a win.
- Activator Wild: Applies the total Global Multiplier to wins it is a part of and replaces any paytable symbol. If multiple Activator Symbols appear, each applies to the Global Multiplier and their values are added together. After this, it is removed from the grid.
- Regular Wild
During Wizard’s Favor and Merlin’s Insanity Free Spins modes, the following special symbol can be revealed:
- Sticky Activator Wild: Functions in the same manner as Activator Wilds, applying the Global Multiplier to winning combinations. This symbol remains on the grid until the end of the Free Spins feature.
Bonus Buy
- Bonushunt Featurespins: Each spin is 5 times more likely to trigger a Free Spins mode (3x your bet)
- Mystery Madness Featurespins: Each spin guarantees at least 6 Mystery symbols (40x your bet)
- Wizard’s Favor: Awards 8 Free Spins (100x your bet)
- Merlin’s Insanity: Awards 10 Free Spins (200x your bet)
Wizard’s Favor
Landing 3 Scatter symbols in the base game awards 8 Free Spins. The round begins with the Global Multiplier set at x1, which can increase throughout spins, retaining its progress until the end of the feature. Each additional Scatter that hits will award +1 Free Spin.
Merlin’s Insanity
Landing 4 Scatter symbols in the base game awards 10 Free Spins. The Global Multiplier begins at x5, which can increase throughout spins, retaining its progress until the end of the feature. Each additional Scatter that hits will award +1 Free Spin.
Our Verdict
Merlin’s Mania is excellent at first glance, offering players an alluring look into the magical world of Merlin. We’re no strangers to Merlin’s magic, who usually appears magically on our screens via the wands of Play’n GO, funnily enough.
This time it’s Bullshark Games’ turn once more, and Merlin’s arcane library is full of spells with four mystery symbol features, plus an extra possible one in free spins.
It’s varied, quite dependable and fairly exciting, though still not a major upgrade on its predecessor. It slightly upgrades the potential with a 12,000x win cap, but a 2,000x difference isn’t that significant.
Merlin’s Mania is a pleasant experience. For those looking for more tried and true mechanics, Merlin’s Mania doesn’t disappoint. It does enough to stick in your mind as an option for a casual game, but not quite enough to become a favourite for years to come.
