Midas Golden Touch 2 Gameplay & Design
Midas Golden Touch 2 is an absolute golden delight, packed with modernized graphics, updated symbols, and a glorious background to match. It wouldn’t be a sequel without a few familiar characteristics, and Thunderkick has done well to connect the two games from a design perspective, but will gameplay prove unique?
Midas Golden Touch 2 is a 5-reel, 3-row Video Slot, playable from £.€0.10 per spin, up to a maximum bet limit of £.€100 per spin. Simply toggle through the available bets until you find one that works for you.
Midas Golden Touch 2 – Slot Symbols and Their Values
Midas Golden Touch 2 has 4 High-paying and 6 Low-paying symbols available throughout gameplay, with the highest-paying symbol producing wins of 75x your bet for a full 5-line winning combination.
Low-paying symbols are standard A, K, Q, J, 9, and 10. While 9s pay between 1x and 5x your bet, Aces can deliver wins of 7.5x your bet for a full 5-line win.
Midas Golden Touch 2 – Paylines and How to Get Them
Winning combinations are created when 3-5 identical symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. Win lines are created over 15 active pay lines, in a Horizontal or Diagonal line formation.
Midas Golden Touch 2 RTP & Volatility – Hot or Not?
Midas Golden Touch 2 has a theoretical RTP of 94.27% and a High Volatility level. The RTP seen here is considered below the average (96% or more), however, this type of figure is becoming increasingly common in slots within the UK market.
The high volatility level means that bigger wins can occur over time, yet the risk of smaller wins is far greater short term. In addition, Midas Golden Touch 2 is capped with a max win of 15,000x your bet.
Midas Golden Touch 2 Special Features
In this section of the review, we will be familiarising ourselves once again with the special Wild symbols from the first release, as well as the Gift of Midas, Bet+, and Bonus Buy features.
Wilds
Wilds in the form of hands can appear on all reels, substituting for all other symbols except Scatters. A winning combination that features a Wild symbol will have a Multiplier applied to it. Depending on the number of Wilds in a win line, a x2, x4, x8, x16, or x32 Multiplier is granted.
Gift of Midas Feature
The Gift of Midas feature is triggered at random in the base game. The Gift of Midas feature is not available in the Free Spins round. Once active, a number of special symbols are added to the reels.
- 1-9 Wild symbols.
- 1-3 Scatter symbols.
Bet+
Before or after any game round, 1 of 2 Bet+ features can be activated for an additional 0.5x or 2x your bet.
- Bonus Boost – Each spin is 2 times more likely to trigger Free Spins. (94.55%)
- Bonus Boost Plus – Each spin is 5 times more likely to trigger Free Spins. (94.63%)
Bonus Buy
Those outside the UK will be able to jump straight into the Free Spins round for 100x your bet. Online Slots UK are devoid of such options, however, the Free Spins round is still accessible through regular gameplay.
Midas Golden Touch 2 Bonus Rounds & Free Spins
Midas Golden Touch 2 has one Free Spins round available, triggered when 3, 4, or 5 Scatters land during the base game, awarding 8, 10, and 12 Free Spins respectively.
During Free Spins, any winning combination that forms will trigger a Sticky Respin feature. Once a Sticky Respin is active, all winning symbols in an active win line will be locked into position whilst all other reel positions spin. Respins will continue until no additional winning symbols are locked.
In addition to this, an Epic Wild symbol is positioned on the reels at the start of each Free Spin. The Epic Wild begins with a x2 Multiplier and can replace all symbols except Scatters. Collecting 3 Scatter symbols will fill the meter, doubling the current Multiplier and awarding +2 Free Spins.
Pros and Cons of Midas Golden Touch 2
Pros:
- The Bet+ feature enhances your chances of triggering Free Spins for a small fee.
- Max win cap of 15,000x your bet.
- Great use of Multiplier Wilds, including an additional Gift of Midas feature.
- Generous selection of betting options.
Cons:
- RTP level of 94.27%.
- Scatter symbols are sparse in Free Spins, meaning it can be somewhat difficult to achieve higher Multiplier levels and additional Free Spins.
- The Gift of Midas feature is not available during Free Spins.
Conclusion
Fans of the first release will notice many similarities to gameplay, however, there are also a couple of noticeable differences and added extras to contend with here. Wild symbols and their magical abilities to deliver Multipliers are still going strong in the sequel. Some may have hoped Thunderkick would fine-tune this, but given how popular the first title is, why fix something that isn’t broken?
There is however a Gift of Midas feature and Bet+ option for players to sink their teeth into. These features are not available in the original and certainly differentiate the two games, as does the max win cap of 15,000x.
We’ve been waiting in anticipation for Thunderkick to expand upon Midas Golden Touch for so long, but was it worth the wait? There are some positive changes here, yet Midas Golden Touch 2 still feels a little too similar to the original in our opinion.
