Mummy Megaways Slot Review
Mummy Megaways from Netent unearths ancient secrets buried deep within the Tombs of Egypt!
With Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic being introduced almost a decade ago, there are hundreds upon hundreds of Megaways titles currently available online. Slots with this mechanic are some of the most sought-after titles by players, and quite frankly, we have a soft spot for them too.
Anytime we face a new release featuring this mechanic, we’re always eager to see how well the Provider delivers. Will there be Mystery symbols, or will a new feature surface? Scheduled for release in October, Mummy Megaways shares strong similarities to Red Tiger’s Egypt Megaways, although it does offer some unique aspects that we think you’ll get on board with.
Base Game & Features
Due to the nature of the Megaways mechanic, it’s no surprise that Mummy Megaways features a maximum of 117,649 ways to win. Achieving this many ways to win requires all 6 reels to contain 2-7 rows each. The number of rows per reel changes with each spin, thus altering the number of ways.
Mummy Megaways features a mixture of Low and High-paying symbols, with payouts ranging between 0.1x and 1.5x for Low-pays, and between 0.3x and 30x your bet for High-pays. This slot is highly volatile with a theoretical RTP of 96.20% and a max win cap of 16,321x your bet.
Like most Megaways titles, this game has a special Avalanche Feature. As a result of this feature, winning combinations are removed from the reels and replaced with new ones, allowing players to create multiple winning combinations in a single spin.
Wilds
In addition to regular symbols, Mummy Megaways facilitates 3 unique Wild symbols, each awarding a payout of 30x your bet for 6 on each reel. Each of the 3 Wilds substitute for all paytable symbols, equipped with a special Power as follows:
- Blue Wild: Creates copies of itself in random positions on the reels.
- Yellow Wild: Spreads to create copies of itself on surrounding reel positions.
- Purple Wild: Expands to cover the entire reel in which it lands.
Feature Bars
Above the main reel set, you’ll find a special feature Bar for each of the 3 Wild symbols. Filling each bar requires a number of Playful Spirits to be collected. Playful Spirits appear randomly on symbols that land on the reels, up to 10 in a single spin. Filling each Feature Bar requires 30 of the same colour to land.
Free Spins
Once all 30 Playful Spirits have been collected of each colour, 1 or more Feature Spins are awarded:
- Blue: Awards 3 Feature Spins with random Wilds guaranteed to land on each spin, up to a maximum of 6.
- Purple: Awards 3 Feature Spins with guaranteed Expanding Wilds on each spin. Expanding Wilds covers the entire reel on which they appear.
- Yellow: Awards 3 Feature Spins with Spreading Wilds. These symbols will transform a random number of surrounding symbols into Wilds.
It’s possible to trigger multiple Feature Spins at the same time. For example, Blue & Purple, Blue & Yellow, Purple & Yellow, or potentially all 3 at once. When this happens, a combination of Random, Expanding, or Spreading Wilds can occur depending on which feature bars were filled.

Our Verdict
With so many Megaways and Egyptian-themed titles to choose from, what makes Mummy Megaways a viable option? For starters, it was created by Red Tiger partner Netent, making it an instant hit with players. For sceptical players, Mummy Megaways’ features are enticing enough to warrant a few spins.
Boasting a reasonable 96.20% RTP and an impressive max win cap of 16,321x your bet, Mummy Megaways sets the bar high with its high volatility rating, keeping players on their toes with each spin. This rings true thanks to the Avalanche Feature that drops new symbols to replace winning ones, as well as the Feature Bar and Spins that can be triggered individually or all at once.
While it’s true that everyone needs their mummy at some point in life, Mummy Megaways is the ‘mummy’ that nobody knew they needed…until now.
