Mystery of the Nile Slot Review
Deep beneath the Nile, under the shadows of Pyramids, a new mystery emerges in Push Gaming’s latest release, Mystery of the Nile!
Push Gaming combines the classic Egyptian theme with mechanics popularised in their Mystery series. With a softer maths module and volatility rating, Mystery of the Nile embraces Mystery Misson: To the Moon and Mystery Museum, only with more abundant features and an improved rate.
Many software providers have dabbled in the Egyptian theme, but it’s fairly infrequent for Push Gaming, with just this, Wheel of Wonders and Blaze of Ra under their belts. With many creative tricks up their sleeve, we’re eager to see what Push Gaming has come up with for their only Egyptian slot!
Base Game & Features
Mystery of the Nile is a 5-reel, 3-row Video Slot with 10 pay lines and varying bet sizes between £.€0.10 and £.€100 per spin. This highly-volatile instalment offers an overall RTP of 96.35% and a max win cap of 10,000x your bet.
Wins are calculated when 3-5 matching symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. Of the 8 High and Low-paying symbols, Anubis is the highest-paying, awarding wins between 5x and 200x your bet.
All other symbols award between 0.2x and 75x your bet. In addition, Wilds pay between 5x and 200x your bet, substituting for all symbols except Mystery Stack, Instant Prize, and Scatter symbols.
Mystery Stack Symbols
Mystery Stacks are special symbols that can land either fully or partially in view on the reels. When 3 or more Mystery Stacks land in the base game, they will nudge to fill the respective reel and turn Gold.
The middle position of each Mystery symbol will spin to reveal regular-paying (excluding wilds and scatters) or Golden Pharoah symbols. If a regular symbol is chosen, each stack will convert into that particular symbol, and wins will be paid accordingly over all 10 pay lines, regardless of their position.
Pharoah Reveal Feature
When 3 or more Mystery Stacks reveal a Golden Pharoah symbol, it automatically triggers the Pharoah Reveal Feature. Each mystery stack will spin through different Prizes – these include:
- Instant Prizes: 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x, and 1,000x your bet
- Multipliers: Awards a multiplier of x2, x3, x5, x10, x20 which is applied to all Instant Prize and Collector symbols in view.
- Collectors: Landing a Collector symbol will absorb all Instant Prizes from active stacks, awarding a Respin.
Push Bet
Activating the Push Bet feature will increase your current bet by 20%. Once active, your chances of triggering the Free Spins round are naturally higher.
Bonus Buy
- Full-screen Golden Pharoah Symbols: 250x your bet
- 8 Free Spins: 92.7x your bet
- 10 Free Spins: 149.7x your bet
- 12 Free Spins: 229.3x your bet
- Random Free Spins: 125x your bet
Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatter symbols anywhere in the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 8, 10, or 12 Free Spins respectively. A special Bonus PopUp feature reveals the number of Mystery Stacks active at the start of Free Spins, from 0 to 3.
During this round, any new Mystery Stacks that land will nudge to fill the entire reel on which they appear, awarding +1 Free Spin and a regular-paying or Golden Pharoah symbol. Mystery stacks remain on the reels for the entirety of the feature.
When 2 or more Mystery Stacks are in view, they will reveal themselves without spinning through symbols. The special Multiplier Meter will activate once 3 or more Mystery Stacks are active.
When a mystery stack reveals the same symbol, the Multiplier associated will increase the meter, up to a maximum of x128 per symbol. Multipliers are applied to the total win of the symbol it represents.
Our Verdict
We’ll admit, that the editorial team aren’t as fond of the Mystery series as our streamers are. Mystery Museum while extremely capable felt fairly stale in the base game and the prospect of multiple stack symbols was improbable in the bonus. Mystery Mission: To the Moon was more of the same but with a drastically different theme and more reels.
Mystery Of the Nile retains the essence of both of its sister slots but includes a couple of extra bells and whistles, namely its Phaoroah Reveal Feature and Multiplier Meter. These two make Mystery of the Nile different and therefore interesting enough to warrant a good go, and we personally prefer it to former games. These extra features do mean not as much relies on just getting max stacks, though it is still a goal.
Overall, Mystery of the Nile deserves a look if you’re a fan of previous games, and if you’re like us and didn’t love its predecessors, then perhaps this will suit you better.
