Base Game & Features
Pirate Pigs is a 5-reel, 4-row video slot with a fixed 1,024 ways to win. The 10 paytable symbols available connect as winning combinations when 2-5 identical instances land on adjoining reels, starting from reel 1.
The Compass is the highest-paying symbol, followed by the Bomb, Grog, Map, Anchor, and A, K, Q, J, & 10 royals. After each spin is complete, all winning combinations award a fixed payout between 0.4x and 5x your bet. Other symbols include Wilds, which appear on reels 2 & 4, substituting for all symbols except Coins, Scatters, & Collectors.
Golden Coins & Collector Pigs
Throughout each session, Golden Coins can appear on reels 1-4, revealing a random Cash Prize between 0.2x and 15x your bet.
Additionally, reel 5 is reserved for up to 4 Collector Pigs: Percy (blue), Poppy (red), Pip (green), and Porker (purple). When a Collector Pig lands in view of 1 or more Golden Coins, it will collect their values before awarding the total amount as a win.
Game Level Upgrades
When a Collector Pig lands on reel 5, it will trigger an Upgrade Level. To progress from Level 1, an additional Collector Pig is required to land on reel 5. After the first upgrade, the most recently upgraded Collector Pig is needed to land on reel 5 for progression to occur, of which there are 5 Levels available:
- Level 0: Each session begins on this level, with all Collector Pig symbols active as standard collectors.

Collector Pig Enhancers
Throughout each Level Upgrade in the base game, each Collector Pig symbol is upgraded in the following ways:
- Level 1: Upgrades the blue Collector Pig (Percy), which doubles the value of all Golden Coins once collected.
- Level 2: Upgrades the blue (Percy) and red (Poppy) Collector Pigs. Poppy the Pig adds each Golden Coin symbol together across the reels, expanding the accumulated value to every symbol position.
- Level 3: Upgrades the blue (Percy), red (Poppy), and green (Pip) Collector Pigs. Pip the Pig boosts the value of all Golden Coins before collection.
- Level 4: All Collector Pigs are upgraded. When the purple Collector Pig (Porker) upgrades, he initiates the Hold & Win Bonus, which continues until no new Golden Coins land on the grid.
Instant Prize Spin

Our Honest Verdict
Pirate Pigs follows a popular and proven formula, giving players exactly what they want. That approach has already been validated by the success of King Kong Bigger Bananas and its increasingly ambitious variants.
Slots like Pirate Pigs offer longevity that few other games can match. Play sessions are often lengthy, with players steadily collecting all, or most, of the available collectors and getting everything set up. More often than not, this happens at a surprisingly small detriment to balance, or even with a pleasantly unexpected uplift.
The steady RTP found in slots like Pirate Pigs makes them genuinely enjoyable to play, and “pleasant” is exactly what Pirate Pigs is. Its cheerfully playful, swashbuckling theme shows that DreamSpin does not take itself too seriously, a tone that is echoed nicely by the soundtrack.
The gameplay and collector mechanics are Pirate Pigs’ staple features. Double Coins, Expanding Coins, Coin Boosts, and the Hold & Win Bonus are all present, and all are both expected and well-loved in this style of game.

Pirate Pigs’ shining feature, as it should be, is its free spins mode. It looks and feels similar to Big Bass Bonanza’s trail system, but with the added excitement of Pirate Pigs’ collector modifiers layered on top.
The maximum win is capped at 2,500 times the bet amount. While this is understandable, it does feel a little conservative, and we would have liked to see a 5,000x ceiling at least. All in all, this is a strong showing of versatility from DreamSpin. Pirate Pigs is not a statement piece, but it is a well-crafted slot that should appeal to the masses.
