Rich Little Piggies Hog Wild Slot Review
Three cartoon pigs in blue, yellow and red peer over the top of the frame with googly eyes, guarding a beach piled so high with gold coins it spills down both sides. Behind them a teal rainbow arcs under a sunburst sky wallpapered with faint pink pig silhouettes. Strip the beach party away and Rich Little Piggies Hog Wild is barely a line-pays slot at all: five top symbols return 2x, and every win that matters is built one coin at a time in three meters above the reels.
It’s a 5×3 grid, mid volatility, an RTP of 95.70%, and a MEGA jackpot worth 12,500x the bet. Light & Wonder built it in the same piggy family as Rich Little Piggies Meal Ticket, and it shares its collection DNA with Money Link Ultimate 8. The pigs, true to the name, have gone hog wild.
Base Game and Paytable
Wins pay on adjacent reels from the leftmost, with only the highest combination paid per line and multiple line wins added together. The paytable shifts to reflect your current bet, so the values below are shown in currency as printed and scale from there.
- Tiki mask: 0.2x / 1.25x / 2x for three, four or five
- Pig playing ukulele: 0.15x / 0.6x / 1.25x
- Pig and purple clam shell: 0.15x / 0.4x / 1x
- Beach ball and King: 0.1x / 0.25x / 0.6x
- Queen, Jack and 10: 0.05x / 0.2x / 0.6x
It’s a modest ladder. Even five Tiki masks returns 2x, so line wins alone won’t carry a session – the coins and what they build are where the money is. The wild substitutes for every symbol except the three coins, which keeps it useful for lines but out of the collection game entirely.
Because the paytable reflects your bet configuration, a stake change re-scales every value on that list proportionally. The five-of-a-kind Tiki pay is the one to watch: at 2x, it’s the ceiling on what a single line can deliver without help. Everything above that ceiling comes from the metres, the jackpots or a lucky Mystery Reveal, not from the symbol grid itself.
Mystery Reveal
Before pays are evaluated, every Mystery Symbol on the grid is replaced with a wild, a Tiki, a Pig Uke, Rich Lady, Clam, Ball or one of the royals. A reveal of wilds across several reels at once is where the base game’s bigger line wins come from.
On top of the replaced symbol, a Mystery Symbol may also reveal a Blue, Yellow or Red Coin. Those coins are the engine of the whole game, and each one feeds a different piggy metre.
The Three Piggy Meters
Each coin either helps trigger the Free Spins Feature or feeds its metre for the active bet option. The metres are persistent, so progress carries between spins – but only at the same stake, because accumulation is tracked per bet option. Change your bet and you change which metres you’re reading.
- Blue Coin – adds one free spin to the Blue Pig meter, up to a maximum of 100
- Yellow Coin – adds 0.25x to 6.75x the current bet to the MAJOR, MAXI, MINOR or MINI meter
- Red Coin – adds 15 wilds to the Red Pig meter, or 25 if the meter already shows 75, up to a maximum of 100
The three metres work at different speeds, and that’s by design. Blue creeps along one spin at a time; yellow jumps in chunks worth up to 6.75x the bet; red moves in blocks of 15 or 25 wilds, so a single coin can take the meter from near-empty to a quarter full. None of the metres can be bought or accelerated in any other way – coin reveals are the only fuel.
The yellow meter feeds a six-rung jackpot ladder. At a 1.00 stake the rungs stack up like this.
- MEGA – 12,500x the bet
- GRAND – 750x
- MAJOR – 17.5x
- MAXI – 10x
- MINOR – 7.5x
- MINI – 2.5x
There’s a deliberate gap between the top two rungs and the rest. The MEGA pays more than sixteen times the GRAND, and the four lower rungs cluster between 2.5x and 17.5x – consolation prizes that keep the yellow meter feeling alive while the big two stay out of reach.
Free Spins Feature
Any combination of the three coins can trigger the Free Spins Feature, and every trigger awards 1x the total bet on top. What the round actually contains depends on which coin set it off.
Blue Coin Trigger
Triggered with a Blue Coin, the round awards the number of free spins shown in the Blue Pig meter, up to 100. Without a Blue Coin in the trigger, the round awards a flat seven free spins. After a blue-triggered round, the meter resets to nine rather than zero – a partial head start on the next one.
Yellow Coin Trigger
A yellow trigger turns the Mystery Reveal into a jackpot hunt. Each Mystery Symbol may reveal a jackpot symbol for MEGA, GRAND, MAJOR, MAXI, MINOR or MINI, stored in the corresponding meter’s spaces – six, five, four, three, two and two respectively. Fill a meter and that jackpot pays and resets before any further awards. All six meters reset when the round ends.
The uneven space counts shape how the round feels. The MEGA needs six matching jackpot symbols to fill, while the MINI and MINOR need only two apiece, so the small rungs land far more readily inside a single round. The big two are a longer project – and any partially filled meter is wiped at the end, so near-misses don’t carry over.
Red Coin Trigger
A red trigger switches to an alternate reel set containing a number of fixed wild positions equal to the Red Pig meter, up to 100. The meter resets to 15 wilds afterwards. Mystery Symbols still replace themselves before pays throughout, regardless of trigger colour.
The alternate reel set is used for the whole round, and its winning combinations match the base game with one exception: none of the three coins appear on it. That means no retrigger, so whatever you take into the round is what you get. The pigs’ on-screen size has no bearing on triggering.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Playing this is less about the reels than about watching three gauges fill. You spin, the pigs blink at you, a coin lands somewhere, and a number ticks up – that’s the loop, and it’s an oddly satisfying one when a meter nears its cap. The free spins round pays out everything you’ve banked, and a red trigger with a full meter turns the whole grid wild-friendly.
The best thing here is the yellow jackpot ladder filling and paying more than once inside a single round. The worst is that near-misses count for nothing: unfill meters get wiped, the round can’t retrigger, and changing stakes abandons your progress entirely.
It’s for players who enjoy a slow build and a persistent sense of progress – the Meal Ticket crowd, essentially – and it isn’t for anyone who wants the reels themselves to do the paying. Spend a while on this beach and the coins do stack up.

What is the grid size of Rich Little Piggies Hog Wild?
The game runs on a 5×3 grid, with line pays on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel. -
How do you trigger the Free Spins Feature?
Landing any mix of the three coin symbols – Blue, Yellow or Red – starts the round and pays 1x your total bet alongside it. A trigger can include more than one coin colour at once. -
What does the Blue Pig meter do?
Blue Coins that don’t trigger the feature add one free spin to the Blue Pig meter, up to a maximum of 100. Triggering the feature with a Blue Coin awards the meter’s stored spins, then resets it to nine. -
