It’s not the first time Play’n GO has beefed up the potential in one of their titles, with Moon Princess being the first to recieve the x100 treatment, but will we be lucky enough to actually see it in action? Let’s play on and find out!
Rise of Olympus 100 Base Game and Features
Rise of Olympus 100 is a 5×5 Video Slot with a Cluster Pays mechanic. Winning combinations are formed when 3 of the same symbol types connect either Horizontally or Vertically with each other.
The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other betting options in between the two. Rise of Olympus 100 has a theoretical RTP of 96.20% and a maximum win capacity of 15,000x.
In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbols here are Hades, Poseidon and Zeus or any combination of the 3. All 3 Gods share the same pay value. Low-paying symbols fall to the Orange, Red, Green and Blue symbols. Wild symbols substitute for all symbols in the paytable.
Similar to the original, each time a winning combination is formed, all winning symbols will disappear from view and all remaining symbols will move down, filling the empty positions on the reels.
Each winning combination that forms will increase the Multiplier in the top left of the reel set, up to a maximum of x100. Once there are no more winning combinations on the reels, the increasing Multiplier will reset back to x1.
Players who love the original Rise of Olympus will be pleased to know that the Hand of God and Wrath of Olympus features are back in full force. More on this below!
Hand of God Feature
During any non-winning spin in the base game, the Hand of God feature can activate.
Once active, 1 of 3 Gods will trigger abd award their respective Modifier. These are as follows.
- Hades – Transforms a set of symbols into another High or Low-paying symbol type.
- Poseidon – Adds 1 or 2 Wild symbols in random positions across the reels.
- Zeus – Removes up to 2 sets of symbols from the reels.
During the Free Spins round, the chosen God Modifier will trigger on every non-winning spin.
Wrath of Olympus
During any base game spin, charging the Meter on the left side of the reel set with only High-paying God symbols, triggers the Wrath of Olympus feature.
- x3 God Symbols – Fills section 1 on the Meter.
- x4 God Symbols – Fills section 2 on the Meter.
- x5 God Symbols – Fills section 3 on the Meter.
Once all 3 sections on the Meter is filled, the Wrath of God feature activates. Hades, Poseidon and Zeus will each perform their Modifiers individually during 1 Free Spin. Clearing the entire reel set during this feature will trigger the Free Spins round.
Rise of Olympus 100 Free Spins
As mentioned above, clearing the entire reel set of symbols triggers the Free Spins round. Depending on which God option you choose, the total number of Free Spins vary.
Clearing the reel set naturally (not during the Wrath of God feature), awards 50x your current bet. The prize is affected by the active win Multiplier.
- Hades Free Spins – Awards 4 Free Spins and the Hades Modifier.
- Poseidon Free Spins – Awards 5 Free Spins and the Poseidon Modifier.
- Zeus Free Spins – Awards 8 Free Spins and the Zeus Modifier.
During the Free Spins round, the increasing Multiplier does not reset between spins and can reach up to an impressive x100. The special Meter is also active during this time and once all 3 sections are filled, +2, +3 or +4 additional Free Spins will be awarded depending on which God option you chose, up to a maximum of 100.
Rise of Olympus 100: Our Verdict
Rise of Olympus 100 looks just as good as it did in the first one, meaning that there isn’t really any noticeable changes to the design when compared to the original.
Of course it wouldn’t be a sequel without at least one significant change, and the clue is quite clearly in the title. Play’n GO recently upgraded their beloved Moon Princess before this, swapping out the x20 max Multiplier for a much sweeter x100 and that’s exactly what they have done here.
Granted this is an impressive change which ups the potential greatly, but this alone may not have been the changes you had hoped for. On the other hand, we are in no position to complain given that Play’n GO has chosen to upgrade statistics rather than the design or features in the game.
If we compare both Rise of Olympus and this new version, you can see that Play’n GO has gone all out, increasing the maximum win capacity from 2,500x in the original to a whopping 15,000x here.
All in all, Rise of Olympus looks and feels much like the original, but significant changes behind the scenes makes it much more appealing on the eye.
