After much time has passed, without an inkling of action, the Gods are getting restless. From the thundering skies of Olympus to the dark shadows of the Underworld, divine forces are stirring.

Rise of Olympus Extreme from Play’n GO possesses the power of 3 legendary Gods: Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon. Get ready to command the reels in a celestial contest of strength, strategy, and agility. Each spin reveals a taste of Olympus, where symbols rumble and powers surge with divine purpose.

After the release of the original Rise of Olympus many moons ago, Play’n GO has embraced us with multiple sequels, each with enhanced statistics and features. Rise of Olympus 100 was a warm welcome to the iGaming industry, followed by Rise of Olympus Origins not long after.

Now a certified slot series, can Rise of Olympus Extreme ‘rise’ to the challenge? With a fixed RTP of 96.20% and a high volatility rating, fans of the series will be impressed with the 50,000x max win potential available here.

In terms of design, not much has really changed, unlike Moon Princess Christmas Kingdom, if memory serves. There are a few alterations to graphics quality and sharper sound effects, but it looks just like it did in the original – even Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon have aged like a fine wine.

Join us as we tackle the overwhelming power of 3 legendary Gods and potentially walk away 50,000x (your bet) better off.

Base Game & Features

Rise of Olympus Extreme is the latest Play’n GO release, as part of an ongoing series, featuring 5 reels, 5 rows, and a Cluster Pays mechanic. Winning clusters are confirmed when 3-5 matching symbols land horizontally or vertically adjacent on the grid.

Zeus, Hades, & Poseidon make up the game’s highest-paying symbols, awarding payouts between 0.2x and 1.5x your bet. Alternatively, having a combination of all 3 Gods counts as a winning combination on the grid, so long as they’re horizontally or vertically adjacent to each other. The remaining paytable symbols award payouts between 0.1x and 0.5x your bet.

Additionally, Coin symbols act as Wilds, substituting for all symbols as part of a winning cluster. Each time a winning cluster occurs, an Avalanche event causes all symbols to be destroyed. Before new symbols fall in, one of the winning positions is replaced with a Wild symbol. Please note that Wild symbols are removed from the grid if no other symbols remain.

Hand of God Feature

Throughout base game spins, the Hand of God Feature may randomly trigger. When this happens, the visible God to the right of the main grid will activate its respective Power Ability to create a win:

  • Hades: Transforms a single set of paytable symbols
  • Zeus: Removes up to 2 sets of paytable symbols
  • Poseidon: Addas 1-2 Wild symbols onto the grid

In Free Spins, the chosen God will trigger its Power Ability on every non-winning spin.

Wrath of Olympus

To the left of the main grid is a special Wrath of Olympus Meter with 3 fillable sections, where only high-paying (God) symbols can trigger it:

  • +3 God Symbols: Fills section 1
  • +4 God Symbols: Fills section 2
  • +5 God Symbols: Fills section 3

Once the meter is filled, Hades, Zeus, & Poseidon will perform their Power Abilities during a single Respin. Clearing the entire grid of symbols instantly triggers the Free Spins mode.

Rise of Olympus Extreme Free Spins

As mentioned above, if the grid is cleared of all paytable symbols in the base game, the Free Spins mode is instantly awarded. Once active, players can choose between 1 of 3 Modes:

  • Hades: Awards 4 Free Spins and the Hades Modifier
  • Zeus: Awards 8 Free Spins and the Zeus Modifier
  • Poseidon: Awards 5 Free Spins and the Poseidon Modifier

In this mode, the Global Multiplier, starting from x1, does not reset between spins, up to a maximum of x1,000. This feature is also available in the base game, which increments by +x1 for each winning cluster.

Our Honest Verdict

The Rise of Olympus series will always be treasured for its Cluster Pays mechanic and Greek mythology theme, but it falls victim to the same retired elements found in the original release, bar a certain statistic.

The statistic we’re reffering to is the max win potential. A lot of software developers like to try out a range of max win caps, and Play’n GO is one of them. Rise of Olympus Extreme boasts an incredible 50,000x max win, but it’s a figure that doesn’t quite match the available features, if that makes sense.

In lamens terms, Nolimit City releases, given the variety of xMechanics, are almost expected to have a sizable max win potential, but for a game like this one, it’s almost unbelievable that such a figure exists.

Rise of Olympus Extreme certinaly elevates the appeal of the series when it comes to its overall potential, but we wouldn’t consider it Play’n GO’s biggest hit. We’re not entirely sure the 50,000x max win potential is achievable or if its a theoretical figure, but we’d love for it to prove us wrong.

Besides the max win potential, what else is new? Not much else, to be honest. If you’re a loyal fan of the Moon Princess franchise and other Rise of Olympus variants, you may see something in this release that we’re missing, but sadly, it’s nothing but a ‘copy and paste’ of its predecessors.
