Rolling In Gold Slot Review
Timber pit-props frame the reels, ropes run over iron pulley wheels, and an oil lantern glows against dark violet rock stitched with amber crystals. Rolling In Gold is built like a mine that only pays at the bottom of the shaft: the base paytable is so starved that most of what the game offers sits behind one collect round, and 2304 ways to win across a 5×4 grid do surprisingly little to change that.
Blueprint Gaming keep things deliberately old-fashioned here. Where their bigger names, from Buffalo Rising Megaways to Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch, chase engines and licences, this one digs in the same shaft as their simpler Eye of Horus line of collect-and-hold games. Whether the seam runs deep enough is the question.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay across 2304 ways on a 5×4 grid, so there are no paylines to trace: matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left are enough. It’s a generous board for a game this straightforward. Six-of-a-kind wins are on the table too, and the paytable prices them accordingly.
The Wild substitutes for every symbol except the diamond scatter, and it doesn’t pay anything itself. The Mystery Symbol does the more interesting work: every one in view transforms into the same symbol, anything from the paytable except the wild and the diamond.
That transformation is where the base game’s bigger wins come from. A cluster of mystery symbols on a board this wide can fill four or five reels with the same character in one motion, which matters on a paytable where the top symbol only pays properly at five and six of a kind.
The symbol set runs from an Old Miner character at the top, through mining gear and down to coloured gems, with all values shown as multiples of the total bet:
- Old Miner – 1x for three, 5x for four, 10x for five, 15x for six
- Gold Cart – 0.6x for three, 1x for four, 2x for five, 5x for six
- Donkey – 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 1.5x for five, 2.5x for six
- Lantern, Pickaxe, Helmet – 0.4x for three, 0.8x for four, 1x for five, 2x for six
- Gems (red, blue, orange) – 0.2x for three, 0.6x for four, 0.8x for five, 1x for six
The top of that ladder is modest. A full six-of-a-kind of the miner returns 15x the bet, and the gems barely clear their own stake at the bottom. Three of the five tiers pay less than the bet for a five-symbol win.
The tiers also sit close together, so most base-game wins land in a narrow band. This is a paytable that isn’t pretending the base game carries the maths on its own – the structure exists to feed the bonus, and everything above the gems is a countdown to it.
Special symbols carry the structure instead, and there are four jobs to keep straight:
- Wild – substitutes for all symbols except the diamond
- Diamond – the scatter; part of the Gold Spins trigger and the Super Spins currency
- Mystery Symbol – all in view transform into the same paying symbol, never wild or diamond
- Gold Nugget – appears during Gold Spins, carrying a cash prize and resetting the spin count
Rolling In Gold Bonus Features & Free Spins
Gold Spins
The bonus is a collect round, and it starts on a specific line: wild, wild and diamond on reels one, two and three together. It’s an unusual trigger, mixing two wilds into what most games would treat as a scatter-only combination, and it means the wild is pulling double duty as both substitute and trigger symbol.
Once inside, the round runs on a simple loop. Every gold nugget that lands carries a cash prize, and every new nugget in view resets the remaining spins to three. The round only ends after three consecutive spins without a nugget.
That reset is the whole engine. A lucky seam of nuggets keeps the meter topped up indefinitely, one spin from dead, then a nugget, then three more chances. Each nugget that lands also adds its cash value to the pot for the Super Spins that follow.
Each diamond in view during the round counts as well. Diamonds don’t reset the spin counter, so they can land on a spin that also carries nuggets, or on a dead one, and either way they bank towards the Super Spins total.
Super Spins
Diamonds collected during Gold Spins each add one Super Spin, up to a maximum of three. This is the payout phase of the round: every cash value sitting on the board is awarded on every Super Spin, and wins are multiplied by the amount shown on the triggering symbol.
The structure rewards patience inside a single bonus. Nuggets build the pot through Gold Spins, and the Super Spins then sweep the accumulated cash values repeatedly, with multipliers stacked on top. A round that scrapes through with one diamond feels thin; one that banks all three can compound hard.
There’s no retrigger cap beyond the reset rule itself: the round lasts exactly as long as the nuggets keep coming, and the three-Super-Spin limit is the only ceiling the game sets anywhere in its bonus maths.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Most of a session on Rolling In Gold is spent digging through gravel for very little, waiting on the wild-wild-diamond line to drop you into the shaft where the money actually is. That’s the whole reason anybody picks it: the Gold Spins round, where every nugget buys you three more chances and the pot keeps growing.
The reset mechanic is the best thing here, because a round that’s one spin from ending can pay indefinitely. The worst is the base paytable: it pays scraps between bonuses, and even the top symbol at full width barely clears 15x. Everything outside the bonus is a corridor you walk to get there.
It’s for players who like a collect round with a proper build and don’t mind a lean stretch of spins to earn it. If the appeal of a bonus is the payout phase rather than the entry animation, there’s real gold at the bottom of this one. Players who want the base game to entertain them along the way will find the lantern runs out of oil long before the diamonds show up.
Rolling In Gold FAQs

Super Spins come from diamonds collected during Gold Spins, with each diamond adding one and three being the maximum. They’re the payout phase, where cash values on the board are paid out repeatedly and multiplied. -

Yes, in effect. Every new gold nugget in view sets the remaining spins back to three, so there’s no fixed limit on how long a round can run. The only hard cap in the bonus is the three-Super-Spin maximum.
