Sherlock and Moriarty WOWPOT! Slot Review
Gaslight on wet cobblestones, a POLICE notice curling on the brickwork, one amber bay window fighting the fog. Sherlock and Moriarty WOWPOT! spends its atmosphere generously, then charges you for it on every single spin: an 86.80% return means this is one of the few slots where the dressings are literally the most expensive thing on the screen.
Just For The Win Studios builds it on a 5×3 grid with 20 paylines, medium volatility, a 27% hit frequency and an RTP of 86.80%, with a further 5.30% of wagers feeding the four-tier progressive. Every non-jackpot spin pays for that wheel whether it ever arrives or not. The studio’s Deco Diamonds Elite and Western Gold 2 cover similar ground for players who’d rather keep their returns, as does The Bandit and the Baron.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay left to right from the leftmost reel on adjacent reels, with only the highest combination per line counting and simultaneous line wins added together. Nothing unusual there. Bets run from 0.10 to 100 per spin, and a wild substitutes for everything except Scatters, Mystery Symbols, progressive tokens and Feature Symbols, always paying the best combination available on its line.
Three features sit on top of that base: Mystery Symbols, Mystery Respins, Free Spins and the Jackpot Wheel. They’re mutually exclusive by design, so no spin can open two doors at once, and each one has its own trigger and its own rhythm.
Mystery Symbols
Question-mark Mystery Symbols land on the reels and resolve after each spin. Land four or fewer and every one of them flips into the same randomly chosen base game symbol. They can’t reveal progressive tokens, so they’re a consistency tool rather than a jackpot route.
Land five or more and the game changes gear entirely, which brings on the respins.
Mystery Respins
Five or more Mystery Symbols lock in place along with any wilds, and the reels spin again. Every additional Mystery Symbol or Wild that lands awards one more respin, everything sticky throughout. When a respin brings nothing new, a Final Respin reveals all the Mystery Symbols as one matching random symbol, Scatters and tokens excluded.
Wins are only paid on the triggering spin and that final reveal, so the middle respins exist purely to stack the board. The more symbols you glue down, the bigger the final reveal can be, and the round ends only when the reels stop cooperating.
Neither the Jackpot Wheel nor Free Spins can trigger inside the feature, and Free Spins, Mystery Respins and the wheel can’t arrive on the same spin in the base game either.
Sherlock and Moriarty WOWPOT! Free Spins & Jackpot Wheel
Free Spins
3 Scatters, landed or revealed, award 10 Free Spins, and each extra Scatter adds two more:
- 3 Scatters: 10 free spins
- 4 Scatters: 12 free spins
- 5 Scatters: 14 free spins
- 6 Scatters: 16 free spins
- 7 Scatters: 18 free spins
Each Feature Symbol that lands during the round randomly reveals one of three outcomes:
- Sticky Wild: locks in place for the rest of the round
- +1 Multiplier: raises the round multiplier by one, kept for the remainder
- +Spins: awards one, two or three extra spins at random
The three outcomes compound. A sticky wild caught early collects every multiplier the round later reveals, and extra spins buy more Feature Symbols, which buy more of everything. There’s a safety net too: if Feature Symbols land on the round’s last spin, the first of them always reveals extra spins, so the round can’t fizzle on a cliffhanger.
The bet that triggered the round carries through it, and the last bet placed in the game is the one used.
Jackpot Wheel
Progressive tokens appear only on high symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5, and collecting them on a spin gives a chance at the wheel, with the odds scaling with your bet. Only tokens on the current spin count, and the on-screen collection meter is decoration, nothing more.
The wheel is split into coloured segments, one per jackpot, and where it stops decides which of the four you take. The ladder, with each tier’s reset value:
- WOWPOT!: the headline tier, resetting to 2,000,000 credits
- Major: resets at 50,000 credits
- Minor: starts again from 100 credits
- Mini: the floor of the ladder, at 10 credits
Progressive wins are independent of your bet, so a 0.10 spinner has the same claim on the top tier as a 100 one, though the trigger odds differ. Tokens don’t appear in Mystery Respins or Free Spins, which keeps the wheel a base game pursuit, and when a jackpot drops it resets to its starting value for everyone worldwide.
Real-money players only. Demo credit can’t touch the ladder.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.9/10
You come to this one for the two million and stay because the fog is well painted. That’s the honest shape of it. Sessions are long, chatty and cheap to sit through, with a hit roughly every fourth spin, and the whole time you’re watching three reels out of five for tokens that mostly don’t come.
The best thing here is the free spins round, because it’s the only feature that gives as good as it gets: sticky wilds and a multiplier that never resets means a good round keeps getting better rather than paying once and stopping. The worst thing is that the base returns don’t survive the jackpot tax. 86.80% is thin for a medium-volatility game, and the features are good enough that they deserve a better-funded paytable underneath them.
So it’s a simple sort: jackpot hunters have a well-made chase here, and the decorative meter aside, the wheel itself plays fair. Everyone playing for the features alone is paying rent on a wheel they may never spin. Holmes would call that a clue; Moriarty would call it the point.
Sherlock and Moriarty WOWPOT! FAQs
-
What is the RTP of Sherlock and Moriarty WOWPOT!?
The total RTP is 86.80%, with a further 5.30% of wagers funding the progressive jackpot. It’s a low base figure by design, the standard cost of carrying a four-tier progressive. -
Is Sherlock and Moriarty WOWPOT! high volatility?
No. The game is rated medium volatility, and its 27% hit frequency means roughly one spin in four produces a win of some kind. -
How many free spins do Scatters award in Sherlock and Moriarty WOWPOT!?
3 Scatters award 10 free spins, and each additional Scatter adds two more, up to 18 for 7 Scatters: 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 Scatters give 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 spins respectively. -
What do Feature Symbols do in the free spins round?
Each Feature Symbol that lands randomly reveals one of three outcomes: a Sticky Wild that locks in place for the rest of the round, a +1 Multiplier that permanently raises the round multiplier, or +Spins, which awards one to three extra spins at random. If Feature Symbols land on the round’s last spin, the first one always reveals extra spins. -
How do you trigger Mystery Respins in Sherlock and Moriarty WOWPOT!?
Landing 5 or more Mystery Symbols in the base game triggers Mystery Respins. The triggering symbols and any wilds lock in place, and each extra Mystery Symbol or Wild that lands awards another respin until a respin brings nothing new, at which point a Final Respin reveals all the Mystery Symbols. Wins are only paid on the triggering spin and the Final Respin. -
Can the Jackpot Wheel trigger during Mystery Respins or free spins?
No. Progressive tokens only appear in the base game, on high symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5, so the Jackpot Wheel can only be won from a base game spin. Mystery Respins and free spins can’t trigger it, and none of the three features can trigger on the same spin. -
