Sisters of the Sun Slot Review 2024
Get ready for a Moon Princess experience in Sisters of the Sun by Play’n GO but with less of the Japanese influence as we join Sekhmet, Hathor and Bastet in an Egyptian Adventure!
Moon Princess and Rise of Olympus from Play’n GO both gained widespread popularity due to their imaginative themes, incredible gameplay and great potential. Can Sisters of the Sun hold a candle to two of the most recognisable slots of this genre and hold its own?
The Sun God Ra has bestowed gifts upon the goddesses Sekhmet, Hathor and Bastet, and as a result, each can harness the power of the sun. Harnessing the seemingly infinite power of the sun undoubtedly means good things for us.
Let’s head into this Sisters of the Sun Slot review to see if such blessings can be bestowed upon us.
Sisters of the Sun Slot Theme
The theme for Sisters of the Sun might not be as extravagant as the likes of Moon Princess, but it’s impressive in its own way.
The background of Sisters of the Sun will change depending on which one of the sisters adorns the screen, so you’ll cycle through several different perspectives of Ancient Egypt as you play. The soundtrack isn’t really anything to write home about though. It’s a pretty bog-standard Egyptian soundtrack.
Initial impressions of the theme don’t make it seem as exciting as Moon Princess or Rise of Olympus, but that could well be down to how overused the Egyptian theme is when compared to other styles. Even Play’n GO themselves have a big roster of Egyptian style slots.
Sisters of the Sun: Betting and Symbols
Play’n GO slots are always very accommodating to everybody, so you’ll definitely find an ideal betting option in Sisters of the Sun. The lowest option here is £/€0.20 per spin, and the highest option is £/100 per spin. With plenty in between, everyone should be perfectly happen with the options available in Sisters of the Sun.
The highest paying symbols in the game are Sekhmet, Hathor and Bastet, and the lowest paying symbols are the Snake, Orb, Cat and Plant. As was the case in both Moon Princess and Rise of Olympus, there’s also a Wild symbol, which is fundamental to the gameplay and how it works.
Sisters of the Sun: The Base Game and Features
Sisters of the Sun is very similar in many aspects to Moon Princess and Rise of Olympus.
To achieve a win, you’ll need to connect 3 or more matching symbols, or any combination of the Sisters horizontally or vertically. Winning symbols are removed from the grid, and the remaining symbols fall downwards via a cascade.
Combinations of 3 symbols will leave behind a Wild symbol, which helps with your ultimate goal to clear the entire screen of symbols. Before you clear the screen, there are some features to experience first, such as the Eye of Ra Multiplier and Goddess Power Features.
Eye of Ra
Beneath spaces on the grid, you’ll see Eye of Ra symbols. Uncover these, and you’ll benefit from a multiplier increase of +1 for every Eye uncovered.
Goddess Power
The Goddess Power Features are triggered randomly on any non-winning spin, and you’ll know which one you’re going to get because the sister will be present on screen before it triggers.
- Sekhmet – Sekhmet will convert one set of symbols into another set of symbols.
- Hathor – Hathor places 1 or 2 Wild symbols into play
- Bastet – Bastet completely removes 2 sets of symbols
During Free Spins, the Goddess Power is triggered upon every single non-winning spin.
Moon Princess and Rise of Olympus showcased a way to trigger a trinity feature where all 3 features would play out. These features were triggered by making connections with the higher paying symbols, but things are a little bit different in Sisters of the Sun.
Sisterhood
In Sisters of the Sun, you can wave goodbye to needing connections with the higher paying symbols because there’s a Scatter to trigger it instead.
When this lands, Sekhmet, Hathor and Bastet perform their Goddess Powers in one free round, and if you clear the grid during this feature you’ll be awarded Free Spins.
There are pros and cons to the way this is triggered. On one hand, it’s good to see that it can arrive via one fell swoop, but on the other, it’s a bit disappointing when you see the sister symbols connect for what would have been a trinity if you were playing Moon Princess.
Clear Grid
If you Clear the Grid in regular play you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with a prize worth 50x your total bet! The prize is then multiplied by the current active win Multiplier, so there’s ample opportunity to bag yourself a nice win. Free Spins can’t be initiated this way though, so you’ll need to rely on the Sisterhood feature instead.
It’s worth noting though, this cash reward is not awarded if the grid is cleared via the Sisterhood Feature, which is fair given how easy it can be to clear the grid with it.
Sisters of the Sun Free Spins
Clearing the grid entirely of symbols triggers Free Spins. Much like in Moon Princess and Rise of Olympus you’ll have an option here.
Choose between Sekhmet, Hathor or Bastet depending on your favourite feature!
- Sekhmet – 4 Free Spins
- Hathor – 5 Free Spins
- Bastet – 8 Free Spins
Fewer spins meanes higher risk but higher potential, and the winning Multiplier does not reset during Free Spins.
Scatter symbols may land during any of these rounds, which awards extra spins up to a maximum of 150.
Sisters of the Sun: Our Verdict
Sisters of the Sun is a great predecessor to the previous games, but some may well prefer the theme of the others to this one. The question also remains on whether the Scatter Feature belongs here, or if it was better the way it was before.
Despite how backwards some of the features may seem when compared to the likes of Moon Princess, it’s actually got a lot more potential. The maximum win potential in Moon princess was 5,000x, and it’s 15,000x in Sisters of the Sun. The RTP looks slightly lower though at 96.20% instead of 96.50%
Potential isn’t quite everything though, despite its considerable capabilities, we still can’t definitively decide if it’s a preferable option to Moon Princess. Moon Princess and its charming theme were so unique, and the gameplay was very simple when compared to this one.
We suppose players will make up their own minds on this one, but in our opinion Sisters of the Sun is yet another great game from the guys over at Play’n GO, but something tells us people will stand by Moon Princess.
