Sweet Bonanza – Oranje Jackpot Slot Review
Waffle-cone ice creams the size of church towers stand over a valley of cotton candy, caramel dripping down the right of the screen, and the loudest thing in it is a jackpot ladder ticking away in the corner. That pairing is the whole argument of Sweet Bonanza – Oranje Jackpot: Pragmatic Play have taken one of the gentlest grids they own and hung a progressive over it. It works better than it should. The 6×5 anywhere-pays setup, low volatility and 0.20 to 240.00 stakes all carry over from the original, and the ladder gives a game built for drift something to aim at.
What’s new is the arithmetic behind it. The maximum win is 21,175x the bet, but there’s no RTP to go with it, so the jackpot ladder glowing in the corner does most of the persuading. Starlight Princess and Sugar Rush built followings on the same anywhere-pays grid, and neither carried a progressive. A ladder on a game this gentle is an odd fit, and an interesting one.
Base Game & Features
The grid is a 6×5 arrangement with no paylines at all. Symbols pay anywhere on the screen, and the total number of the same symbol visible at the end of a spin determines the win. Eight or more of a kind is the entry point for every symbol in the game.
Two symbol families share the screen: glossy candies at the top of the pays and familiar fruit below them. The gap between the families is wide. Twelve or more hearts pays twenty-five times what twelve bananas pays, and even at the eight-symbol entry level the heart returns forty times the banana’s rate.
- Red Heart – 10x for 8-9, 25x for 10-11, 50x for 12 or more
- Purple Square Candy – 2.5x for 8-9, 10x for 10-11, 25x for 12 or more
- Green Pentagon Candy – 2x for 8-9, 5x for 10-11, 15x for 12 or more
- Blue Candy – 1.5x for 8-9, 2x for 10-11, 12x for 12 or more
- Apple – 1x for 8-9, 1.5x for 10-11, 10x for 12 or more
- Plum – 0.8x for 8-9, 1.2x for 10-11, 8x for 12 or more
- Watermelon – 0.5x for 8-9, 1x for 10-11, 5x for 12 or more
- Grapes – 0.4x for 8-9, 0.9x for 10-11, 4x for 12 or more
- Banana – 0.25x for 8-9, 0.75x for 10-11, 2x for 12 or more
Tumble Feature
Every winning combination is paid, then all winning symbols disappear. Whatever is left falls to the bottom of the screen and empty positions refill from above. Tumbling continues until no new win forms, and there’s no cap on how many tumbles a single spin can chain.
All wins from a base spin are added to the balance only after every tumble has finished. That matters more than it sounds: on this grid, a big result is rarely one combination. It’s one combination that clears, refills, and pays again.
Scatter Pays
The SCATTER is a waffle symbol, present on all reels, and it pays from any position. Four of them are also what the free spins trigger looks for. The scatter pays on top of anything the round starts, as multiples of the bet:
- Four scatters – 3x the bet
- Five scatters – 5x
- Six scatters – 100x
Ante Bet
Two bet multiplier settings change how the game plays. At 20x, the free spins purchase is available. At 25x, the stake rises but the chance of triggering free spins naturally is doubled, with more scatters placed on the reels, and the purchase is switched off.
It’s the same fork the wider Bonanza family has offered for years: pay more per spin for a better shot at the round, or keep the cheaper stake and keep the buy button. Neither setting touches the jackpot ladder, which runs underneath both.
Sweet Bonanza – Oranje Jackpot Free Spins & Bonus Buy
Four scatters anywhere on the grid start the free spins round. The round runs on these rules:
- The 6×5 grid carries over unchanged
- Tumbles stay active, so chains keep clearing and refilling
- Scatters landing during the round retrigger it
- No spin count is stated for the round
Because the round’s length is whatever the scatters make it, retriggers do the real work. A round that keeps feeding itself waffle symbols can run long enough for several full tumbles to stack, and that’s where this grid pays biggest.
Free Spins Purchase
On the 20x multiplier setting, a Buy Feature button sells the free spins round outright for 100x the total bet. At the demo’s 2.00 stake that reads as a 200.00 button on screen. Buying the round skips the waiting; it doesn’t change what the round pays.
The purchase is the only way in besides the scatter trigger, and the 25x ante setting removes it entirely. Players who prefer to chase the round naturally at a doubled trigger rate give up the button; players who want the round now pay a flat 100x.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.9/10
Playing this is a long sit in a very sweet room: tumbles clear and refill, the balance drifts rather than swings, and the ladder glows in the corner the whole time. The ladder is the only reason to choose it over the plain Sweet Bonanza, and on a grid this calm it earns its place – long gentle sessions are exactly what a progressive needs to stay interesting.
Its best move is the 25x ante setting, which doubles the natural trigger rate and quietly suits a patient style of play. Its worst is the economics staying dark: no RTP and no spin count, so the ladder’s cost is never spelled out, and on the Book of Tut Oranje build that same darkness hid jackpots locked out of the feature. Trust here is a coin toss.
This one is for the low-stakes grinder who likes candy colours, a long session and a big number to watch. Anyone after hard volatility or published maths has plainer builds on the same shelf. For the rest, it’s a familiar sugar rush with a slow jackpot drip underneath, and that’s a pleasant place to sit.
