The Conqueror Slot Review
The Conqueror is the rare scatter-pays game that doesn’t want to hurt you. A commander in a crimson cloak rides a white horse along wet sand, sabre raised, a sailing ship tiny on the horizon behind him, and Pragmatic Play have hung all of that conquest imagery on one of the gentlest versions of their tumble-and-multiplier engine you’ll find. Low volatility on a 6×5 grid is an odd fit, and it’s the whole story of this game.
It runs at 96.07% RTP on 20 paylines, with stakes from 0.20 to 240.00 per spin and a win cap of 5,000x the bet. The loop is the one Gates of Olympus and Sweet Bonanza made famous; Sugar Rush works the same vein.
Here the swings are short and the sessions run long. Whether that’s a strength depends entirely on what you came for.
Base Game & Features
Paying Symbols
Symbols pay anywhere on the screen, and it’s the total count of one symbol at the end of a spin that sets the win. Eight or more of a kind starts paying; thirty is the ceiling. Values as multiples of stake:
- Ship – 50x for 15-30, 20x for 12-14, 10x for 10-11, 5x for 8-9
- Cannon – 25x for 15-30, 10x for 12-14, 5x for 10-11, 2.5x for 8-9
- Tower – 15x for 15-30, 6x for 12-14, 3x for 10-11, 1.5x for 8-9
- Horse – 10x for 15-30, 4x for 12-14, 2x for 10-11, 1x for 8-9
- Sword – 7.5x for 15-30, 3x for 12-14, 1.5x for 10-11, 0.75x for 8-9
- Purple Gem – 5x for 15-30, 2x for 12-14, 1x for 10-11, 0.5x for 8-9
- Red Gem – 4x for 15-30, 1.5x for 12-14, 0.75x for 10-11, 0.4x for 8-9
- Green Gem – 3x for 15-30, 1x for 12-14, 0.5x for 10-11, 0.3x for 8-9
- Blue Gem – 2.5x for 15-30, 0.75x for 12-14, 0.4x for 10-11, 0.25x for 8-9
The premium set fits the theme – ship, cannon, tower, horse and sword – while four coloured gems fill out the low end. The ship is the one worth watching.
What the list shows is a steep pyramid: long chains of anything are rare, and the short-chain pays at the bottom of every row are where most tumble sequences actually finish. That structure is why the multiplier symbols matter so much here. The symbol pays alone are modest, and only the multipliers lift a sequence into anything memorable.
Tumble Feature
Every winning spin triggers a tumble. Winning symbols are paid and removed, the remaining symbols fall, and empty positions fill from above. Tumbling continues until no new win appears, with no limit to the chain.
The grid has a twist: a locked top row. It unlocks progressively as tumbles stack up, and the full schedule runs like this:
- Reel 1 unlocks after the first tumble
- Reel 2 after three further tumbles
- Reel 3 after six further tumbles
- Reel 4 after nine further tumbles
- Reel 5 after twelve further tumbles
- Reel 6 after fifteen further tumbles
In practice that means the whole top row only opens on the longest chains – by the time reel 6 gives way, a tumble sequence has run past thirty consecutive wins. A long chain literally widens the battlefield.
More positions in play means more symbols of a kind can land, which is exactly what the higher pay tiers need. The unlock schedule and the pay table are built for each other.
Multiplier Symbols
Multiplier symbols can land randomly during spins and tumbles, in the base game and in free spins. Each carries a value from 2x up to 500x, drawn from this ladder of 22 possible values:
2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 30x, 40x, 50x, 60x, 80x, 100x, 150x, 200x, 300x, 400x and 500x. The mid-range values are the common currency of a sequence; the triple-figure entries are the ones that turn a modest tumble chain into a serious win.
When the tumbling sequence ends, all multiplier values on screen are added together and the total win of the whole sequence is multiplied by that figure. Three 10x symbols on screen at the end of a run means 30x applied to everything that sequence paid. It’s the classic Gates of Olympus arrangement, and it’s where the game’s real potential lives.
The Conqueror Free Spins & Bonuses
Free Spins Feature
Four or more scatter symbols anywhere on the screen award 10 free spins, with special reels in play for the round. The locked top row starts fully locked, and every tumble during the feature counts towards unlocking it on the same schedule as the base game.
Multiplier symbols behave differently here: instead of paying once at the end of a sequence, each one adds its value to a running multiplier that applies to the whole round. A 25x symbol landing on the third spin makes every subsequent win that much bigger, and the value never resets. Three or more scatters during the feature award five additional free spins.
Ante Bet
Two bet multipliers are available. The 20x multiplier is normal play. The 25x multiplier puts more scatters on the reels and increases the chance of triggering free spins naturally – but it disables the buy option while it’s active.
The choice between them is straightforward: pay 25% more per spin for a better shot at scatters, or keep the 20x stake and retain the option to buy the round outright. Neither mode changes the pay table or the cap; only the route into the bonus differs.
Buy Free Spins
The free spins round can be bought from the base game for 100x the current total bet. When buying, four, five or six scatters can land randomly on the triggering spin.
Six scatters on a purchased trigger is the dream outcome. More scatters on the opening spin means a running multiplier with more to feed on from the first tumble onwards.
One hard rule governs every mode: the maximum win of a round is capped at 5,000x the bet. Hit it and the round ends immediately, the win is paid, and any remaining features are forfeited. The cap applies to the whole round, not to individual tumble sequences, so a base game chain and a bonus round both answer to the same ceiling.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
For a game draped in sabres and conquest, this is a remarkably peaceful way to spend an evening. Sessions stretch out, the balance barely trembles, and the bonus round arrives often enough that the long grind other scatter-pays games demand just isn’t part of the deal. That calm is the one reason to choose it over its louder siblings.
The locked top row is the cleverest thing here – every tumble buys you more battlefield, so long chains feel like progress rather than just payout. The weakness is that the low volatility sandbags the payoff: a running multiplier and a 5,000x ceiling belong to a game that swings harder than this one ever does, and the 100x buy price asks a lot of a bonus this restrained.
This is for players who love the tumble-and-multiplier loop but not the bruising sessions it usually brings – a gentle introduction to a famously punishing format. Anyone hunting five-figure ceilings and heart-stopping dry spells won’t find them on this coastline. Everyone else can enjoy the view.
