Triple Thunder Slot Review
Three bearded gods glare down from gold-rimmed portraits on the left of the reels, watching a blue-lit storm sky boil behind the grid. Triple Thunder’s sharpest idea is that those gods are rivals for your wins: every winning cluster feeds one of them, and whichever deity you end up backing decides what the bonus round becomes. Few cluster slots hand that much of the outcome to a single pick.
From Tom Horn Gaming, it runs on a 5×5 grid with cluster wins rather than paylines, at an RTP of 92.35% – a low return by any standard, and the number that hangs over everything else. It’s a heavier mythological tilt than the studio’s Thor: Candy Storm 3000 or Giza’s Portals. Three gods, two meters, and one pick that decides the storm.
Cluster Wins on the 5×5 Grid
Triple Thunder pays by cluster. Land five or more matching symbols adjacent to one another and the group pays out, with every win multiplied by the total bet. There are 13 symbols in the game, and the gems carry all the value.
The gems come in six colours arranged into three paying tiers, and values scale steeply with cluster size. Here’s the full ladder:
- Teal and Purple gems: 0.4x for a 5-cluster, 0.5x for 6, 0.7x for 7, 0.9x for 8, 1.2x for 9, 1.5x for 10, 2.5x for 11 or more, and 8x for a 15-plus cluster
- Green and Gold gems: 0.3x for a 5-cluster, 0.4x for 6, 0.5x for 7, 0.6x for 8, 0.8x for 9, 0.9x for 10, 1.2x for 11 or more, and 4x for a 15-plus cluster
- Blue and Red gems: 0.2x for a 5-cluster, 0.3x for 6, 0.4x for 7, 0.5x for 8, 0.6x for 9, 0.7x for 10, 1x for 11 or more, and 3x for a 15-plus cluster
Two gems share each tier, so the colours are interchangeable for pay purposes: a cluster of five teal gems and a cluster of five purple gems pay exactly the same. Only clusters of five or more count. Smaller groups pay nothing, so the grid can fill up with near-misses that look promising and pay nothing at all.
The gap between a 10-cluster and an 11-cluster is where the paytable sharpens. That single extra symbol nearly doubles the top gems’ value, and the jump from 11 to 15-plus more than triples it again.
Spinning is straightforward otherwise. You choose your bet, hit Spin, and the reels come to rest showing a random spread of symbols across the 25 positions. Autoplay is there for longer sessions, on mobile it lives in the Options menu, and the Stop button cuts any run of automatic spins short.
The Thunder Meter
Each thunder god builds power through wins that use their crystals. Every winning cluster feeds the corresponding god’s meter, and once a meter fills, that god’s modifier activates on the reels. It’s the engine that keeps the base game moving between free spins triggers.
- Green and purple crystals fill Thor’s meter
- Gold and red crystals fill Zeus’ meter
Thor’s Thunder Giant
Fill Thor’s meter and the Giant Symbol activates on the reels. On a grid where a five-cluster of top gems already pays under half the bet, that help matters.
Zeus’ Lightning Path
Fill the meter with gold and red crystals instead and Zeus’ Lightning Path activates on the reels. The two meters run in parallel, so a session naturally drifts towards whichever god’s crystals keep landing in your winning clusters. Chase green and purple and Thor answers; let gold and red stack up and Zeus takes over.
Perun’s power is reserved for the free spins, where he offers the shortest round and the sharpest multiplier of the three.
Triple Thunder Free Spins
Five scatters, the blue gem-and-shield icon, trigger the Triple Thunder Free Spins from anywhere on the grid. Five is a tall order on 25 positions, so the bonus isn’t a frequent visitor. When it arrives, you pick one of the three gods, and your pick decides the round entirely.
- Thor’s Thunder Giant Free Spins: 10 free spins with a x2 multiplier
- Zeus’ Lightning Path Free Spins: 8 free spins with a x4 multiplier
- Perun’s Stormy Wild Free Spins: 4 free spins with a x8 multiplier
Only the chosen god’s feature runs during the round; the other two sit out. Spin count against multiplier is the whole decision, and it’s a genuinely interesting one. 10 spins at x2 spreads the risk across a longer round, while 4 at x8 packs everything into a handful of chances, with Perun’s wilds doing the heavy lifting on each.
Wins inside the round are multiplied by the total bet with the god’s multiplier applied throughout, so the pick sets both how long the bonus runs and what each win inside it is worth. Thor offers the long, modest spread; Perun concentrates everything into four spins at four times that rate.
Retriggers are off the table. Once the spins run out, the round is over and the wait for five scatters begins again. There’s no second bite at the scatters from inside the bonus.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.3/10
Playing Triple Thunder is a long watch of two storm gods filling up while you hunt scatters, and the reason to choose it is that pick: no other part of the game asks as much of you as standing between Thor, Zeus and Perun and setting your own variance. The choice between 10 spins at x2 and 4 at x8 is a genuinely good decision to build a bonus around, and it’s the game’s best idea.
Against that, the return is the problem: 92.35% sits well below where cluster slots usually land, and with no retrigger inside the bonus, the pick you make is the only round you get. The base paytable won’t carry a session on its own either.
So it’s for players who enjoy the build and want a hand on the wheel when the storm finally breaks – not for anyone who wants frequent features or a generous return. Back your god carefully; Perun’s four wild spins at x8 are where the thunder is loudest.
