Star Pops Theme

We’ll admit first impressions aren’t that great, but once you move past the bland design you begin to appreciate Star Pops for what it is. Its not the first time we’ve come across a slot that features Balloons as the main attraction, with Big Time Gaming’s Pop getting in there first. What we really appreciate about this aspect of Star Pops is that it’s really simple to understand, the only thing you need to focus on is the colour of the Balloons matching up. For players who like a slot that’s pretty uncomplictaed, you will no doubt love what Electric Elephant has done here.

The background in Star Pops is very basic, with clouds covering the entire background. It makes sense that Electric Elephant would include a background of this kind considering the slot itself is based around Balloons, but Electric Elephant could have been a little more creative with this, instead it leaves little to the imagination.

The music playing throughout comes across as very chilled and somewhat relaxing and the sound effects that can be heard tie in nicely with the theme.

The theme of Star Pops doesn’t exactly scream excitement but will Gameplay redeem itself?

Star Pops Betting and Symbols

Star Pops has a variety of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £/€0.20 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £/€50 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.

All of the individual coloured Balloon symbols are of exactly Equal Value, so there’s no ‘high-paying’ or ‘Low-paying’ symbols to speak of.

Special Star symbols act as both Wilds and Scatters and substitutue for all Balloon symbols.

Star Pops Base Game and Features

Star Pops is an 8×8 Video Slot with a Cluster Pays mechanic. In order to form a win you will need to connect 5 or more of the same coloured Balloon either Horizontally or Vertically.

Star Pops features Cascading Reels. Each time a winning combination is formed, all winning symbols are removed from the grid and new symbols will float up from the bottom, filling all empty spaces and possibly creating even more winning combinations.

The base game in Star Pops could be considered a little dull and flat, that is until you experience the Increasing Multipliers, Star Wild Connectors and Destroy features that offer huge potential!

Increasing Multipliers

Each time a winning combination is formed, the corresponding Balloon Multiplier will increase by +1.

All Balloon Multipliers will continue to increase by +1 as long as winning combinations are formed by that particular Balloon colour.

Once no more winning combinations are formed, all Balloon Multipliers will reset back to x1 for the next paid spin.

Star Wild Connectors

During any random spin in the base game, if a Wild symbol is used as part of a winning combination, it will automatically float up to fill any empty spaces above it, acting as any Balloon symbol.

If there are no empty spaces present above the Star Wild, it will move either one space to the left or one space to the right, if there is an empty space for the Star Wild to move into.

If two or more winning clusters share a Star Wild, the individual Multipliers combine to produce a unique Multiplier Value. The maximum cobined Multiplier Value for Star WIlds is x1,000.

Destroy Feature

During any non-winning base game spin, the Destroy feature can become active.

Once this happens, one of the coloured balloons is chosen at random to be destroyed. Using the destroyed balloon symbol as a center point, all other Balloon symbols excluding Star Wilds in a double diagonal formation are also destroyed.

Star Pops Free Spins

Landing 3 or more Star Wilds during the base game, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 7 Free Spins.

The Star Wilds that triggered the initial Free Spins will remain in view for the duration of the Free Spins round.

At the start of Free Spins, each of the Star Wilds will be assigned a position on the grid. Any Multipliers that are active during the initial trigger will carry over into Free Spins. With each Free Spin, the Star Wilds will be given a new position on the grid.

Any increasing balloon Multipliers will not reset during the Free Spins round.

Star Pops Our Verdict

When you first catch a glimpse of Star Pops, you can’t help but be slightly disappointed with the overall design. Once you start playing, your attention immediately shifts to Gameplay and what Star Pops can do.

You may feel that Star Pops is a budget version of Push Gaming’s Jammin’ Jars, and you can’t help but wonder if that’s where Electric Elephant got their inspiration of Star Pops from.

That being said, Star Pops is not all that terrible in our opinion and has the potential to become rather popular among players. The simplicity of the symbols, layout and design can be very appealing to players who prefer a slot that’s easy to understand.

Statistically, Star Pops looks great with a maximum win capabilities of 14,165x, and a more than decent RTP of 96.59%. Having tested the game ourselves for a fair amount of time, we can certainly see the potential.

Overall, Star Pops has a little bit of a lacking theme, but it’s surprisingly good, and we think it’ll be popular for all of those Jammin’ Jars fans out there, of which there are so many.
