Van der Wilde and The Outlaws Base Game

Van der Wilde and The Outlaws Theme

First impressions of Van der Wilde and The Outlaws is a good one, theres plenty to look at in terms of details with quite a lot of brown and wood throughout!

The backdrop is really quite busy, you can see a Hotel on the left of the screen, desert mountains throughout and dust blowing across the screen which all fits nicely with the overall theme. There isnt a whole lot of colour running through the theme, most of what you see is browns with a dash of colour in the title and certain symbols.

The music playing throughout is very western but its also very subtle as well, it certainly doesnt come across as overpowering like we’ve heard in previous slot games. Sound effects are pretty good and fit in with the overall theme.

We have also picked up on the fact that iSoftBet has named their characters which we think is a nice touch, not only are they known as The Outlaws but Van der Wilde, Bonney Cassidy, Buffalo Butch and Mad Dog.

The theme of Van der Wilde and The Outlaws is quite a common theme seen throughout slot games so no points for iSoftBet there however, they have managed to pull it off and make it unique nonetheless.

Van der Wilde and The Outlaws Base Game and Features

Van der Wilde and The Outlaws is a 5 reel slot with 10 fixed paylines. To form a win you will need to land 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The base game in Van der Wilde and The Outlaws is nothing out of the ordinary and could be considered a little simple in terms of gameplay, luckily for us iSoftBet know what their players want from slot games and has delivered us an exciting Expanding Wins feature!

Expanding Wins Feature

Any symbols that land and form part of a win using a Scatter Wild symbol will trigger expanding wins. Once triggered, the initial win will be paid and the symbols which form the win (not including the  Scatter) will expand to cover the reel and new wins are paid, including the same win line.

If different multiple symbols formed the initial winning combination through the Scatter Wild there will be multiple expanding wins, which are played one at a time starting with the highest win. If a symbol falls through multiple win lines, it will only expand once.

Van der Wilde and The Outlaws Free Spins

Whichever character you secure is the Free Spins round you will play, making the aquired character symbol a Super Symbol.

Super symbols do not require a Scatter Wild to expand but will only expand from left to right. Free Spins can be retriggered by landing 3 Scatters on any of the 5 reels, awarding an additional 8 Free Spins.

Van der Wilde and The Outlaws Our Verdict

Van Der Wilde and the Outlaws isn’t entirely innovative in the theme department. We have all seen our fair share of Wild West Slots, and because of this it’s quite easy to be disillusioned when yet another arrives. Though if you can forgive the less than imaginative theme then you may well be surprised with what Van Der Wilde and the Outlaws has to offer.

In some ways, the gameplay here is somewhat reminscent of the Book Style gameplay that we know and love, and with the prospect of a Super Free Spins where all characters are active, things can get exciting rather quickly. Van Der Wilde and the Outlaws are part of iSoftBet’s XTreme Pays series, but at around 8,000x we could certainly name a few of their own games that outperform it in this regard despite not being a part of the series.

Van der Wilde and the Outlaws probably won’t grip the attention of players like their twisted tale series or other recognisable instalments, but it’s a job well done overall.
