Cash Quest Slot Review 2021
Hacksaw Gaming are taking us on a quest of the cash variety in their newest medieval inspired instalment, Cash Quest!
Take up your lance and ride valiantly into the magical forest, save the girl and net yourself some treasure in the process in a fantasy slot with Hacksaw’s new and exciting feature, BOOSTBAR. The new BOOSTBAR feature is a lot more exciting than the Boost bar chocolate that initially comes to mind with its significant potential to transform the game from a mere cluster pays slot into a high paying monster.
Hacksaw Gaming stands out as a provider that has surprised everyone. Not too long ago they were more of a scratchcard focused company with the odd slot or two, but now they’re the names behind some of the most recognisable new favourites like Chaos Crew, Rocket Reels, Hop ‘n ‘Pop, Wanted Dead or a Wild and more.
It’s safe to say that we’re always waiting in anticipation for what Hacksaw Gaming create next, and with a brand new feature out in the open there’s certainly lots to be excited about.
Cash Quest Slot Theme
Hacksaw has captured the fantasy theme of Cash Quest tremendously well.
When you think of fantasy quests your mind might wander to video games like The Legend of Zelda where magical forests, chests, swords and cartoon like graphics are common, and Cash Quest feels like that in a way. In the background you’ve got a lush green forest and a ground litered with coins, chests, swords and skulls.
The music even sounds a little bit like something you might hear in an adventure video game title, and the graphics and its cartoony feel really embodies the fantasy setting.
Design is always something that Hacksaw Gaming excel at, and Cash Quest is no exception to the rule.
Cash Quest: Betting and Symbols
When it comes to betting options, Cash Quest follows the same trend seen in previous Hacksaw Gaming titles with options that range from £/€0.20 per spin and £/€100 per spin. There are plenty of options in between the two, so there’s an ideal option for every kind of player here.
Looking towards the symbols, the highest paying and most desirable treasure is the Golden Mask, followed by the Dragon, Sword, Rune and Bottle. Lower paying symbols have exactly equal value, these are the Shield, Ham, Boot, Skull and Bones.
Cash Quest also features a Wild symbol, which substitutes for all symbols except for the Free Spins Scatter.
Cash Quest: The Base Game and Features
Cash Quest is a 6 reel slot with a Cluster Pays Mechanic. To form a win, you’ll need at least 5 of any symbol to connect to each other horizontally and/or vertically. Winning combinations will disappear, which leaves room for new symbols to fall into their place via a cascade, which may well create new winning combinations.
Symbols on their own do not pay too much…Even 25+ of the highest paying symbol in the game pays 25x. Its easy to get a little bit excited when you see all of these symbols connected to each other, and for a brief moment you think you’ve just completed the game. You haven’t, but that’s okay, because the potential can be significantly boosted by Hacksaw’s trademarked new feature, the BOOSTBAR.
BOOSTBAR Feature
The BOOSTBAR feature is triggered by a book symbol, which may land on the reel at any time. This book unlocks four extra positions above the reels, and every time it lands 4 special feature symbols will occupy the bar.
These symbols may be blocking stones, which serve no function, a symbol which clears the grid, paying symbols, symbol multipliers, global multipliers or wilds. Once a paying symbol, wilds or clear grid symbols jump out of the BOOSTBAR, their positions are filled with new symbols.
This continues until all positions have been locked, or if multipliers can’t activate due to lack of winning combinations.
- Blocking Stones – This symbol blocks the position it lands in
- Magic Lantern – This symbol clears the grid. Once cleared, the grid will fill with a new set of symbols.
- Splitter – Any of the paying symbols may become a splitter. The amount on the symbol tells you how many symbols will pop out from the BOOSTBAR to occupy spaces on the main grid. The amounts may be 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 & 30 symbols.
- Wilds – Wild symbols will jump onto the grid. The amount on the symbol tells you how many will land. The amounts may be 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 & 30 Wilds.
- Symbol Multipliers – Any of the paying symbols may inherit a multiplier. The multiplier amount will be multiplied by all wins on that symbol. The symbol multiplier amounts can be 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 25x or 30x
- Global multipliers – Global multipliers apply to all wins during this round, and it persists for the remainder of the round. Global Multipliers can be 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x or 100x
Cash Quest Free Spins
Landing 3 or more of the Free Spins Scatter symbols will net you 10 Free Spins.
In Free Spins, the BOOSTBAR activator symbols are more common when compared to the Base Game, which means a lot more excitement.
There’s some ever so slight changes in what the BOOSTBAR features may award in Free Spins.
The maximum amount of Wilds is now 20 instead of 30, which is a downgrade, but the Symbol and Global Multipliers gets rid of some of the lower values. The Symbol Multipliers can now also reach 100x instead of 30x.
Cash Quest Bonus Buy
If you’re outside the UK then you can utilise a Bonus Buy option in Cash Quest
The cost of this is 119x your stake.
The RTP when buying Free Spins increases slightly from the slots standard 96.32% to 96.36%
Cash Quest Slot: Our Verdict
Cash Quest is a jolly and feelgood adventure from a provider who brings so much quality to the industry. Is it their best slot? no, but it’s a successful introduction to their brand new BOOSTBAR feature, and an exciting one to say the least.
Without the BOOSTBAR we’d have a pretty tragic slot on our hands here, but the diversity it brings really does bring Cash Quest to life. In terms of statistics, the winning potential here is 7,500x, which is lower than a fair few of their other slots which generally sits at around 10,000x, but it’s still significant.
We’re glad that the BOOSTBAR feature activates within the Base Game too. If it was one of those slots where you had to wait until Free Spins then you’d be tremendously bored. Hacksaw Gaming slots can be quite hard to bonus too, so there’s a high chance you would have written it off long before you got to see it in action. Thankfully, Hacksaw Gaming show it off well enough in the Base Game, and they make notable changes to it in Free Spins to make it more potent.
Overall, Cash Quest has all the right things to make it another success story, but don’t expect it to be your favourite Hacksaw Slot.
