Curse of the Mummies Slot Review 2024
Get ready to embrace Egypt once more, as we get up close and personal with some rather unhappy Mummies seeking revenge, in Curse of the Mummies from Relax Gaming partner, Blue Guru Games!
Mummies the word! As you make your way through the Mummies Tomb, keep a look out for those pesky Mummies who are looking to cause harm to the living. Curse of the Mummies from Blue Guru Games is a fresh take on the classic Egyptian theme, with vibrant graphics, an atmospheric soundtrack and solid Gameplay.
Blue Guru Games is a refreshing new slots Provider that formed in 2021, with their latest release The Nemean Lion to grace our screens in April 2022. Since then, Blue Guru Games are pushing to get their name out there with new titles like this one. The common theme is something that we’ve experienced many times, but what is so special about Curse of the Mummies?
The background shows the inside of a dimly lit Tomb, which is similar in style to Play’n GO’s Book of Dead and Legacy of Dead..and well almost every other Egyptian slot. What makes Curse of the Mummies stand out though is the rather demonic looking Mummy symbols, which makes this slot a lot more terrifying than the rest.
Will we make it out of the Mummies Tomb in one piece? Let’s play on and find out!
Curse of the Mummies Base Game and Features
Curse of the Mummies is a 5 reel slot with 243 ways to win. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbol types from left to right, starting from the left-most reel. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.25 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with a healthy selection in between the two.
In terms of symbols, all High-paying symbols fall to a collection of Mummies. The Mummy with the Red background has the highest pay value, followed by the Mummies with the Purple, Blue and Green backgrounds. Low paying symbols fall to the Snake, Scorpion, Lotus Flower and Ankh. There is also a Wild symbol present, which substitutes for all symbols except Scatters.
The base game in Curse of the Mummies has a Rise of the Crypt feature, which delivers some much-needed excitement to an otherwise boring base game. More on this below.
Rise from the Crypt Feature
During any random spin in the base game, the Rise from the Crypt feature can trigger.
Once this happens, a random symbol will be chosen to transform into a Wild or Scatter symbol.
Curse of the Mummies Free Spins
Landing 5 Scatter symbols, 1 on each of the reels, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 15 Free Spins. There are 2 types of Scatters available, Standard Scatters with a Green Orb and Super Scatters with a Red Orb.
Once active, each triggering Standard and/or Super Scatters will award their own unique Multipliers. The awarded Multipliers are added together and will be applied to any winning combinations during the Free Spins round.
- Standard Scatters – Each Standard Scatter awards a Multiplier of either x1, x2, x3 or x5.
- Super Scatters – Each Super Scatter awards a Multiplier of x10.
Landing 5 Scatters, 1 on each of the reels during the Free Spins round, awards an additional +5 Free Spins and another x1, x2, x3 or x5 Multiplier for each triggering Scatter to the current win Multiplier.

Curse of the Mummies: Our Verdict
It makes sense that Blue Guru Games decided to dip their toe in the Egyptian theme pool, given that almost every other slots Provider has done the same, but is Curse of the Mummies another to be pushed to the back of the shelf, left to collect dust?
The base game is nothing out of the ordinary and lacking in any real excitement. The Rise from the Crypt feature isn’t exactly one we would choose if we could, but seeing as it’s the only one on offer, we would rather take it than leave it.
The Free Spins round is where the real fun begins, with a pretty decent choice of Free Spins and Multipliers. As you watch the Free Spins round unfold, you will soon realise it was too good to be true. The bulky looking Scatters soon become a curse on the reels, constantly getting in the way of your much-needed big wins. We aren’t suggesting that you couldn’t achieve some nice hits every so often, but it’s not going to be easy.
We must say though, artistically, Curse of the Mummies is something special compared to many alike it. The design team behind Curse of the Mummies should be proud of creating something so visually appealing, but perhaps their talents are wasted on this timeworn theme? We feel like Blue Guru Games could make something that really pops if they decide to ditch the common theme.
Overall. Curse of the Mummies is nothing to get majorly excited about, but it’s not a bad game, and we’re hoping for big things going forward
