Desperate Dawgs 2 Gigablox Base Game and Features
Desperate Dawgs 2 is a 6 reel slot with 40 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols (or 2 or more of the highest paying symbol) land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.
The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other betting options in between the two. Desperate Dawgs 2 has a theoretical RTP of 95.50% and a max win cap of 9,872x.
In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol here is the Desperate Dawgs 2 Logo, followed by the Sheriff Badge, Gun and Cowboy Hat. Low-paying symbols fall to Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds and Spades. Wilds substitute for all other symbols except Scatters.
Looking into the base game, there’s been some major improvements made when compared to the original Desperate Dawgs, including the use of the Gigablox mechanic and an exciting Gold Bet feature. Although these may not be the changes you had hoped for, it’s certainly a step in the right direction.
Gigablox
Most of you are already familiar with how the Gigablox mechanic worls, but for those of you who aren’t, heres a quick run-down on what it does.
Gigablox are giant oversized symbols on the reels that work in the same way as individual symbols. During each spin, the reels can appear as normal or in a Gigablox formation between 2×2 and 6×6.
The Gigablox symbols are calculated by how many individual symbols of the same type can fit within them. For example, a 2×2 Gigablox symbol is 4 individual single symbols in one big package.
Along with regular symbols, Scatters can also land as Gigablox symbols on the reels.
Gold Bet
Before you can begin spinning, you are given the option to activate the Gold Bet feature.
Choosing to activate this feature will increase your current bet by 50%, but with that comes a certain advantage. Once active, your chances of triggering the Bonus rounds is increased.
Desperate Dawgs 2 Gigablox Free Spins
During the base game, you will have the opportunity to trigger the Train Robber, Gunslinger or Bad Boy Bonus rounds. Landing 6 or more Scatters across the reels will automatically trigger one of the above Bonus rounds.
Train Robber
Triggering the Train Robber bonus will require a minimum of 6 Red Scatters to land across the reels. The total number of Free Spins awarded is equivalent to the total number of triggering Scatters.
During each Free Spin, 3 Train Wagons will appear. Each position on the wagon will contain either Gold, Silver, Notes, 1, 2 or 3 Dynamites or a Blank.
- Gold – Awards 5x your current bet.
- Silver – Awards 2x your current bet.
- Notes – Awards 1x your current bet.
- Dynamite – Awards between 1, 2 and 3 Dynamite randomly to the Dynamite Trail.
- Blank – Exactly what it says on the tin!
There is also 4 Silver Safes and 1 Gold Safe up for grabs, which will award Mystery Prizes once their asscoiated dynamite trail is complete.
Both the Silver and Gold safes are triggered by 2 and 5 Dynamites and pay a mystery prize of up to 30x and 200x your bet respectively. Each safe can only be awarded once during the Free Spins round.
Gunslinger
Triggering the Gunslinger bonus will require a minimum of 6 Yellow Scatters to land across the reels. A number of Shots are awarded which is equal to the total number of triggering Scatters.
Before Free Spins begin, you will be given a choice between lower and higher Volatility. Option 1 offers Multipliers of x1,x1, x2 x2, x3 and x4, and option 2 offers Multipliers of x1, x1, x1, x1, x1 and x10.
Each shot chooses a Value and Multiplier at random. The value that is chosen is then multiplied by the awarded multiplier value.
Bad Boy
Triggering the Bad Boy bonus round requires a minimum of 6 Green Scatters to land across the reels. The total number of Free Spins awarded is equivilant to the total number of triggering Scatters.
During this round, each time a winning combination is formed, the reels will Expand by +1 row and an additional 15 Paylines open up on the reels.
If any new wins are revealed by the extra paylines, an additional +2 Free Spins are awarded. The reels can expand up to a maximum of 6×8 with 100 active paylines.
Desperate Dawgs 2 Gigablox: Our Verdict
Desperate Dawgs 2 is a huge improvement from the original thanks to the modern and popular Gigablox mechanic that accompanies it, and it’s twice as capable as its predecessor was with a 9,872x maximum win cap.
The Base Game is devoid of any features, but the Gigablox mechanic carries the game well enough on its own with frequent (and sometimes rather big) wins. As well las this, there’s a handy Gold Feature for those that wants to bet a little extra in exchange for a better chance at Free Spins, but sadly no bonus buy option for those within jurisdictions that allow it.
When it does get to Free Spins then the fun really begins, and its unsurprisingly diverse like its predecessor was with different bonus rounds to experience, and the prospect of seeing them all for yourself gives Desperate Dawgs 2 some real replay value. You wouldn’t exactly want to get a Train Robber Bonus and leave before seeing what the Gunslinger and Bad Boy bonus rounds are like, would you?
Our personal favourite was the Bad Boy Bonus with expanding paylines, and it was nice to see that Reflex Gaming could fit in some innovative features together with the Gigablox mechanic.
Overall, Desperate Dawgs 2 may not be the most fierce Gigablox slot to date, but it’s got promise, potential and most importantly, it’s fun.
