The Wildos Slot Review 2024
Thunderkick are taking us out west for an explosive experience with their newest slot, The Wildos. The ‘Wildos’ might give an early indication on what to expect in this one, and the fact that it’s a Thunderkick instalment might shed some light on it too.
Thunderkick are renowned for slots that heavily emphasise wilds and multiplier wilds, and this attitude to gameplay has yielded positive results in previous instalments. Who could forget the likes of Riders of the Storm, the Beat the Beast Series and Midas Golden Touch? They’re older, but still firm favourites among Thunderkick aficionados.
Later slots from Thunderkick like Dionysus, Phoenix Paradise and Pyramyth follow this proven formula too, and it never seems to disappoint, despite its simplicity.
Will the Wildos live up to expectations? Lets check it out.
The Wildos Base Game and Features
The Wildos is a 5 reel slot with 15 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.
The minimum bet available here is £/€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. The Wildos has a theoretical RTP of 96.44% and a max win cap of 6,250x.
In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol here is the Bandit with the Red Background, followed by the Bandits with Blue and Green Backgrounds, Bottles, Sheriff Hat and Boot. Low-paying symbols fall to Hearts, Spades, Diamonds and Clubs in the form of Money Bags.
Multiplier Wilds
Multiplier Wild symbols with a Multiplier value of up to x5 appear only on reels 2, 3, and 4, substituting for all other symbols except Scatters.
If more than 1 Multiplier Wild is part of a winning combination, their Multiplier values will be added together and applied, up to a maximum of x125.
The Wildos Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatters anywhere on the reels triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 8 Free Spins.
During Free Spins, all Wilds that land are Sticky, and will reveal a random Multiplier value on each winning Free Spin. Each time a new Wild Multiplier appears, it will be highlighted in a special meter below its respective reel.
Once a Meter is filled, an additional +3 Free Spins is awarded, up to a maximum of 9 for the entire Free Spins round.
The Wildos Bonus Buy
Those outside the UK will benefit from a Bonus Buy option.
Thunderkick has granted players access to the Free Spins round for a total cost of 100x your current bet.
The Wildos: Our Verdict
Pulling themselves back from the edge, Thunderkick is back on top form once again in their latest Wild West release, The Wildos.
Can we just take a minute to appreciate how appealing Thunderkick titles look? Before this, Dionysus Golden Feast had us absolutely mesmerized, and although The Wildos isn’t quite as colourful, it’s still a delightful sight.
Along with its very common theme, The Wildos is also home to some familiar gameplay, but is this a bad thing?
With the right amount of Multiplier Wilds, each with the max Multiplier value of x5 connecting to the same winning combination, you’re looking at a decent max Multiplier value of x125.
The Wild Multipliers are a great distraction during the base game, but the Free Spins round is where the real potential lies. It’s here that Multiplier Wilds become Sticky, changing their values between spins, upping your chances of hitting the max Multiplier value of x125, if you haven’t already.
If you want to get in on the action sooner, those outside the UK will be able to buy their way into the Free Spins round for a fee, but for the rest of us, it looks like a good old grind is on the cards.
All in all, The Wildos stands out as one of the more attractive Wild West slots to date, but is it Thunderkick’s best work? That’s for you to decide.
