Serpent King Slot Review
A ferocious new King slithers across the reels in Red Tiger’s latest release, Serpent King!
Following in the deadly footsteps of Primate King and Zillard King, Red Tiger’s Serpent King claims the throne, coiling the reels in his sinister embrace. Serpent King is the third of the series, where collecting Gold Coins will unlock special upgrades and access to the 6th reel.
Get ready to witness the Serpent King in all his glory, passing Multipliers to the Multiplier Stone and striking with the next Sepernt Wild. Non-winning spins may unleash Sepernt Respins, locking a chosen symbol for cascading respins and greater rewards. As the reels spin, the Sepernt King tightens his grip – his reign begins now!

Base Game & Features
Situated across 5 reels and 4 rows, Serpent King is a highly volatile slot with 30 fixed pay lines and varying bet sizes between £.€0.10 and £.€100 per spin. Other attributes include an overall RTP of 95.70% and a sizable max win cap of 12,825x your bet.
Wins occur when 3-6 matching symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. This game displays 4 High and Low-paying symbols, each awarding payouts between 0.1x and 30x your bet.
Gold Coins
In the base game, when there are still Upgrades to be unlocked, special Gold Coins can appear in the corner of any high or low-paying symbol. If Gold Coins appear in the same spin as a Serpent Wild, they are collected and contributed to filling the Progress Bar for reel 6.
Progress Bar
The Progress Bar has 3 individual levels for upgrades 1, 2, and 3. Collecting 30, 60, and 90 Gold Coins will unlock Upgrades 1, 2, and 3 respectively. The progress made is displayed on the rightmost reel (6th reel) which remains locked. Once the Progress Bar is complete, it transforms into a 6th reel, on which no low-paying (card suit) symbols can land.
Serpent Wild
During gameplay, 1 Serpent Wild can land on reels 1-5, substituting for all paytable symbols. As Gold Coins are added to the Progress Bar, a series of 3 Serpent Wild Upgrades can be unlocked:
- Upgrade 1: Transforms the Serpent Wild into a 1×4 Super symbol
- Upgrade 2: Adds a random Multiplier of x2, x3, or x5 to the Serpent Wild
- Upgrade 3: Transforms the Serpent Wild into a Locked Wild. This symbol remains in position until it participates in at least 1 winning combination, followed by a non-winning spin. For each participating win, the Global Multiplier increases by +x1. If the Serpent Wild is on reel 5, it may randomly move to reels 1-4.
Multiplier Stone
When a Serpent Wild with an active Multiplier is present, without a win, the Serpent Wild may store the multiplier within the Multiplier Stone above the reels. The stored multiplier is then transferred back to the Serpent King the next time it appears on the reels, adding the value to its own Multiplier.
Serpent Respins
When a Serpent Wild hits but is not part of a win, it can mark a random symbol type on the reels. All symbol instances of the marked symbol are then locked onto the reels, guaranteeing a Respin. This feature continues so long as new symbols of the selected type hit the reels.

Our Verdict
When comparing Serpent King against its predecessors, we feel Primate King is the better offering of the 3 thanks to the Megaways mechanic and the high-ranking statistics. Serpent King is stripped of Free Spins, popular mechanics, and promising statistics, leaving us with the bare minimum.
Alternating from the Megaways mechanic to 30 fixed pay lines, Serpent King is probably the least-terrifying of the series. The Serpent King may look intimidating, but it’s got nothing on the beastly Primate King.
Red Tiger has kept all 3 games in touch with each other, sticking with the Progress Bar, multiple Upgrades, and an unlockable 6th reel. In this particular area, Serpent King follows in the footsteps of Zillard King, utilising identical Upgrades, even down to the amount of Gold Coins required.
Another disappointing factor is the lack of Free Spins. Instead, Red Tiger has opted for a Respins Feature, where 1 symbol is chosen to become sticky on the reels. Many players love the thrill of a Free Spins round, which separates the base game and gives players a goal to achieve when spinning the reels. The Respins feature found here blends in too much with the base game features and can leave you feeling a little cheated.
If you compare the statistics to Zillard King and Primate King, you’ll find this game sits right in the middle of all 3. Zillard King has the lowest max win of 3,800x, followed by 12,825x your bet for this one, and sky-rocketing to 30,000x your bet for Primate King. Overall, Primate King seems to be the strongest and highest-performing slot of the series so far.
