About this time two years ago, Reel Kingdom allowed our favourite fisherman to indulge in the nightlife of Club Tropicana. His colourful Hawaiian shirt and cheeky patch of chest hair peeking out the top were quite a bold look from his wellies and overalls, but a nice change, nevertheless – Let’s be honest, we’ve seen worse on a night out, right?

Base Game & Features
Club Tropicana: Happy Hour is a highly volatile 5-reel, 4-row Video Slot with 12 fixed pay lines. Wins occur when 2-5 matching symbols land from reels 1-5 per spin, starting from the leftmost reel.
The 10 high and low-paying symbols represent a variety of Cocktails and Fruit, awarding wins between 0.2x and 200x your bet, where applicable. In addition, the game has a number of Special symbols available in the base game and Free Spins mode:
- Wilds: Appear on all reels in the Free Spins mode, substituting for all symbols except Scatters
- Scatters: Available on all reels in the base game and are responsible for triggering the Free Spins mode
- Money Symbols: Cocktail icons appear with a random value between 2x and 5,000x your bet, which can only be won during the Free Spins mode
Scatters
In the base game, whenever 2 Scatters appear without a third, there is a chance to bring another into view through the following modifiers:
- The visible Scatters may move down without leaving the reel area, causing a Respin to occur. Other reels without Scatters will continue to spin until the current Scatters reach the bottom of the reel.
- A special beer animation can pull one of the reels to reveal another Scatter.
Ante Bet & Bonus Buy
Players outside the UK jurisdiction can participate in multiple Bonus Buy options:
- Free Spins: Purchase a regular bonus round, where 3-5 Scatters are awarded for 100x your bet
- Super Free Spins: Guarantees the Super Free Spins mode, where all modifiers are unlocked for 350x your bet
Alternatively, UK players and other countries will benefit from a special Ante Bet feature for an additional 50% of their current bet. With this feature active, your chances of triggering the Free Spins mode are higher due to the extra Scatters added to the reels.
Each of the above Bonus Buy options is subject to a fixed RTP of 96.50%.
Club Tropicana: Happy Hour includes a standard max win cap of 5,000x your bet. If a game round exceeds this, the current mode will end, and the player will be returned to the base game with this fixed amount.
Club Tropicana: Happy Hour Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatters in the base game triggers the Free Spins mode, awarding 10, 15, and 20 Free Spins, respectively.
Before the round begins, 0-5 Modifiers are randomly selected for the subsequent round:
- +Cocktails: More cocktail icons are present on the reels
- +Bartenders: More wild bartenders are present on the reels
- +Drinks & Shakers: The chance to hit exotic drinks, beers, or shakers is higher
- Level 2: The round begins from Level 2 on the Progress Trail
- Extra Spins: Awards +2 Free Spins to your total and every retrigger
Each Wild Bartender symbol that appears will harness the value of all Money symbols on the reels. After this, they are collected atop the Progress Trail to aid in triggering the feature.
For every 4th Wild Bartender collected, a fixed amount of Spins and a Multiplier which applies to all collected Money symbols is awarded:
- Level 2: +10 Free Spins and a x2 Multiplier
- Level 3: +10 Free Spins and a x3 Multiplier
- Level 4: +10 Free Spins and a x10 Multiplier
After the fourth level is achieved, the feature cannot be retriggered. In addition, special Modifiers can trigger during certain points of gameplay:
- Wild Bartenders without Money symbols will cause them to appear in random positions to guarantee a Cash Collect win
- Money symbols without Wild Bartenders will trigger a beer animation, where certain reels are pulled up to reveal Wild Bartenders
- Wild Bartenders without Money symbols will trigger a shaker animation, where symbols are transformed into something else, except Wild Bartenders
During the Super Free Spins mode, all Modifiers at the start of the feature are active. Please note that this round can only be accessed via the Bonus Buy option.
Our Honest Verdict
Not that we did, just FYI, but is it bad that we could’ve written this slot review with our eyes closed? We guess it says more about Reel Kingdom and their limited choice of features and mechanics than our ability to predict gameplay.
We’ll admit, we much prefer to see these repetitive features outside of the Big Bass Bonanza franchise, but we’ve genuinely run out of ways to say how dissatisfied we are with them.
The one good thing we can take from this release is the addition of a Super Free Spins mode, although this will only benefit the population of players outside the UK. We do, however, have access to an Ante Bet feature, which increases our chances of triggering the regular Free Spins mode, but it doesn’t quite have the same appeal.
The only other appeal is the very minor increase in the 4,000x max win found in the first release to a rather average 5,000x your bet in this one. It’s not a big leap in potential, but it’s a giant step for Pragmatic Play and their partners, believe it or not.
All in all, the latest Club Tropicana release may not be the happiest hour you’ve spent on a game, but it delivers a much more pleasing atmosphere than the generic fishing scene.
