Jamie: Can you start by introducing yourself to our readers? What’s your role at Booming Games and how long have you been doing it for?
Craig: I’m Craig Asling, Director of Games at Booming Games, and I’ve been with the company for just over a year now.
I’ve been in the iGaming industry for more than 12 years, with previous roles at iSoftBet, ESA Gaming and IGT, so I’ve seen first-hand how player expectations and game design have evolved over time.
At Booming, my focus is on shaping the roadmap, making sure we’re not just following trends, but building experiences that genuinely resonate with players and stand the test of time.
Jamie: Imagine we’ve never heard of Booming Games before, how would you describe the studio and its portfolio of slots to us as first timers?
Craig: I’d describe Booming Games as one of the industry’s rising forces over the past few years, very much a studio that understands where the market is going but isn’t afraid to push it forward.
Our portfolio is built on a blend of proven player-favourite mechanics, things like Hold and Win, cash collection, and feature-driven gameplay, combined with new ideas that keep those formats feeling fresh rather than recycled. What’s really defined our growth is consistency.
We’ve focused on building recognisable game series that players come back to, while expanding into emerging markets and strengthening our footprint in established ones.
Ultimately there are a lot of studios out there releasing brand-new slots on a daily basis. Not all of them are building identities. That’s where we’ve made a conscious difference.
Jamie: Talk us through your all-time favourite Booming Games titles, what are they, and why do they hold such a fond place in your heart?
Craig: It’s always a tough one, but a handful of games stand out for me.
The Buffalo series has been hugely important, not just commercially, but from a design perspective. It’s a perfect example of taking a familiar theme and continuously evolving the mechanic without losing what players love about it.
Our Fish Tales franchise has also become a real flagship for us, the player engagement we’ve seen across multiple releases has genuinely been exceptional.
I’ve also got to show some love to Mr. Oinkster! These games have really stood out. It’s a newer IP for us, but it’s already proving that strong character-led design can create real connection with players when it’s done right, not forced.
Jamie: April was a strong for Booming with Ultra Buffalo Hold and Win and Fish Tales Monster Bass 10,000 coming out. Both games are closely linked to previous releases, why have buffalo and fishes hit the mark so well?
Craig: Because they do exactly what a good slot series should do, deliver familiarity without becoming predictable!
With Ultra Buffalo Hold and Win, we’ve taken the core Hold and Win format players already enjoy and evolved it. Features like unlockable reels and the Ultra Reel mechanic give the experience more depth, it feels like a genuine upgrade rather than a predictable sequel. On the other side, Fish Tales Monster Bass 10,000 builds on one of our most successful series.
We’ve kept the core features that players love but pushed the max win up to 10,000x, which immediately raises the stakes and excitement.
Themes like buffalo and fishing work because they’re instantly recognisable and hold that wide appeal for all manner of different players, but they only continue to perform if you keep innovating underneath the surface. That’s the key difference.
Jamie: Mr. Oinkster’s Power Hit is the next game everyone’s got their eye on. Can you give us a rundown of this feature-filled slot and what players can expect?
Craig: Mr. Oinkster’s Power Hit is a great example of us combining proven mechanics with a fast-growing IP. We’ve taken one of our most popular gameplay formats and merged it with our Power Hit cash collection mechanic, which adds a really satisfying layer of progression and reward.
On top of that, you’ve got the Mr. Oinkster theme, which has already shown to be a big hit with players. Players can expect a game that feels familiar in terms of core mechanics, but elevated through pacing, feature interaction and character-driven presentation.
Jamie: This isn’t your first release featuring Mr Oinkster. Do you find that character-led titles perform particularly well due to the fact that players feel comfortable with familiar faces reappearing in their games?
Craig: Absolutely, but only when it’s done authentically. Players don’t connect with characters just because they exist. They connect because those characters are tied to enjoyable gameplay experiences.
With Mr. Oinkster, we’ve seen strong performance because the character is backed by solid mechanics and entertaining design. The familiarity then becomes an advantage, it builds trust and recognition, which lowers the barrier for players trying a new release in the series.
But it’s a balance. If you rely too heavily on the character without evolving the gameplay, players lose interest quickly. For us, the character is the hook, but the gameplay is always the reason they stay.
Jamie: Booming Games have a history of releasing high-profile football-themed games. With it being a World Cup summer, do you have anything special up your sleeve?
Craig: We’re very excited about what’s coming this summer. We’ve partnered once again with Ronaldinho for our next branded release: Ronaldinho’s Streetball Bonanza, launching this June.
What’s interesting about this one is that we’ve deliberately moved away from the traditional, polished stadium look you often see in football-themed slots. Instead, the game is set in the urban streets of Brazil, with a raw “street football” vibe that feels much more energetic and authentic.
From a gameplay perspective, it’s a scatter pays title with cascading symbols and strong win multipliers, so there’s plenty of momentum and excitement built into every spin. Add in a bold visual style, a standout soundtrack, and Ronaldinho himself, and you’ve got something that feels genuinely different in a space that can sometimes feel a bit repetitive. We’re confident it’s going to turn heads.
