It almost goes against logic that Goats are good at scaling steep mountains, you wouldn’t exactly attribute the trait of being nimble to a goat, but as it turns out they’re quite the mountaineers. Specialised hooves, agility, balance and fearlessness make goats fit for the job, but will the goats from Goat Getter have the necessary equipment to carry players to new heights?

An original slot about Goats wasn’t on our bingo card, especially from the same studio that brought us the ferocious Razor Returns, but here we are, and up we go to the mountain in their latest offering to the world.

Goat Getter Base Game and Features

Goat Getter is a 5×6 reel Video Slot with a Scatter Pays mechanic. Winning combinations are formed when 6 or more of the same symbols land anywhere across the grid.

The minimum bet available here is £.€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.40% and a max win cap of  10,000x.

In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Red Chest, followed by the Purple Chest, Green Chest, Red Gems, Mushrooms, and Eggs. Low-paying symbols fall to Hearts, Spades, Clubs, and Diamonds.

Each time a winning combination forms, all winning symbols will be removed from the grid, and new symbols will drop down from above via an Avalanche feature.

Push Bet

Before you can begin spinning, you will have the option to activate the Push Bet feature. Choosing to activate this feature will increase your current bet by 20%. Once active, your chances of triggering the Free Spins round are increased. (RTP 96.18% – 96.44%)

Coin Drop Feature

During the base game, special Bronze, Silver, and Gold Coin Pots can land at random with instant Prizes between 0.5x and 1,000x attached to them. When 6 or more Coin Pots land in view with no further wins, the Coin Drop Feature will trigger.

• 6 Coin Pots – Award 0.5x your bet.

When 10 or more Coin Pots land in view, the Instant Prizes attached to them become active and each Coin Pots value is awarded. At the start of the Coin Drop feature, all High and Low-paying symbols are removed from play (except Coin Pots and Scatters).

Once active, Mystery Boxes will drop in from above, revealing Dud, Coin Pot, or Scatter symbols. When 3 or more Scatter symbols are revealed, the Free Spins round will automatically trigger once all wins are paid out.

During Free Spins, Mystery Boxes can reveal Dud, Coin Pot, and Goat symbols. When Coin Pot and Goat symbols are revealed, the Instant Prize values attached to them will become active, and the Goat symbol will collect them.

The Multiplier attached to the Goat symbol will then be applied to the collected values and paid out. Once all wins are paid, the Goat symbol will be stored on a special Progression Meter. More than 1 Goat symbol in view will collect all Coin Pot values multiple times.

Goat Getter Free Spins

Landing 3 or more Scatter symbols across the grid during the base game will trigger the Free Spins round. Depending on how many Scatters trigger the Free Spins round, you can be awarded one of the following number of Free Spins.

Goat Getter: Our Verdict

Goat Getter isn’t quite as crazy as others in the Push Gaming catalogue, but it doesn’t need to be. The objective isn’t to go bigger and better every time, and Goat Getter is a testament to their diverse talents.

Goat Getter is a solid Scatter Pays slot, and coupling it with a collection mechanic makes it entertaining and potentially rewarding with high-value pots up for grabs. It certainly doesn’t feel like a game that seems tedious until Free Spins hits, but you’re still sitting in anticipation for it. When Free Spins does arrive, you can justify a shift to the edge of your seat as you climb through the levels to higher multipliers, if you can get there.

We’ll admit, the pacing of the bonus in the early stages can be a bit of a drag. It can be quite a long bonus as long as the Goats keep coming, and a constant tempo is required to get to those more exciting levels. We tested it a few times, and we’ll admit that during one of those sessions, we went to make a coffee and returned before we’d even ascended to the next level. At other times, it came relatively quickly, or not at all when we were particularly unlucky.

The potential of Goat Getter is solid with up to 10,000x as a maximum win. This feels like the new standard nowadays, but it’s still pretty appealing.

Overall, Goat Getter is a spirited and attractive instalment, but it’s not an all-time favourite.
