Get ready to enjoy some classic slot action, where nostalgic fruits and colourful 7’s take to the reels, in iSoftbet’s latest release, Golden Jokers Double Up!
iSoftBet are better known for their ‘Twisted Tale’ series, but more recently their main focus has been on Hold & Win slots. For those who are not a fan, you will be pleased to know that iSoftbet has put the Hold & Win mechanic to bed (for now at least) and moved onto greener pastures.
Although Golden Jokers Double Up is brand new, iSoftbet has given it a rather old school theme. Back before Nolmit City and other providers got really clever with their designs, Fruit and Joker themes were all the rage, and currently still are to players who love a classic.
Like 90’s fashion, retro slots are making a comeback, but with the help of modern technology, they are bigger and better than ever! Elk Studios pulled off the classic 3 reels in Toro 7’s and Push Gaming gave a whole new meaning to the classic theme in Joker Troupe, but will Golden Jokers Double Up be just anywhere near as good?
Let’s play on and find out!
Golden Jokers Double Up is a 5 reel slot with 1,024 ways to win. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbol types from left to right, starting from the left-most reel. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.20 (£/€0.40 Double Up Bet) per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€20 (£/€40 Double Up Bet) per spin, with a selection of bets in between the two.
In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Golden Jokers Double Up is the Joker, followed by the Red 7, Blue 7, Bell and Cherries. Low paying symbols fall to Grapes, Oranges, Lemons, Berries, Watermelon and Pears. There is also a Wild symbol present, which substitutes for all symbols except Scatters. Wild symbols will only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4, with only 1 Wild per reel.
iSoftBet aren’t treating us too much in terms of features, with the base game coming across quite dull compared to others. Although not really a feature, iSoftBet has included a Double Up Bet which certainly brings a little something to the table. More on this below.
Before you start spinning, you will be given the option to activate the Double Up Bet, which can be found on the left side of the screen.
By activating the Double Up Bet, you current bet will double in price per spin. Once the Double Up Bet is active, the current Scatter symbols will double in size, which can land either fully or partially in view. Please note that Stacked Scatters only count as 1 Scatter symbol, regardless of how they land on the reels.
Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Bonus Wheel feature. Once the Bonus Wheel is activated, you will have the chance to win either Free Spins or 1 of 3 Jackpot Prizes!
The Bonus Wheel has 8 individual segments, 4 of which offer 8, 10, 12 and 15 Free Spins, and the other 4 sections hold one of the following Jackpot Prizes.
During Free Spins, the highest paying symbol will appear both Single and Stacked on the reels. Each time a Wild symbol lands, they will reveal a random Multiplier of x2 or x3, multiplying any wins they are part of. Wilds will only present themselves on reels 2, 3 and 4 and only 1 Wild per reel. Two or more Multiplier Wilds will multiply each other, up to a maximum of x27.
During the Free Spins round, landing 2, 3, 4 or 5 Scatters will award an additional +5, +8, +15 and +20 Free Spins respectively.
For those outside the UK, you may benefit from a Bonus Buy option.
Purchasing the Bonus Wheel feature will cost a generous 100x your current bet.
Please note that the cost of the Bonus Buy option is not affected by the Double Up Bet as this feature is not available during the Bonus Buy feature.
Golden Jokers Double Up may not appeal to everyone, but for those who still love a classic, you will definitely appreciate what iSoftbet has done here. The background may be basic and the design may feel old, but this only captivates the classic theme more.
Other than the Double Up Bet, iSoftBet has not gifted us any kind of amusement in the base game, with no thrilling feature or bonus round to be seen. The Bonus Wheel feature quickly makes up for the boring base game, which gives you the chance to win multiple Free Spins or if you’re lucky enough, 1 of 3 fantastic Jackpot Prizes!
It’s not the first time we’ve enjoyed a Bonus Wheel in an iSoftBet title, with the Hot Spin series setting the bar high, but we can’t imagine that Golden Jokers Double Up will ever top this.
If the Bonus Wheel isn’t enticing enough, then maybe the Free Spins round will win you over. The Free Spins round in Golden Jokers Double Up has a few tricks up its sleeve, and the most rewarding of them all is the Multiplier Wilds. Ways to win, combined with Multiplier Wilds and the highest paying symbol is a recipe for huge potential indeed!
Golden Jokers Double Up is pretty solid statistically speaking too, with a bang on average RTP of 96.00% and a maximum win capacity of 9,093x.
Golden Jokers Double Up may be appeal more to players with an appreciation for a classic, but for those who are just looking for something new, Golden Jokers Double Up is definitely worth giving a go.
