In an industry where every new studio announces itself as an innovator pushing boundaries, Old Skool Studios chose to do the opposite, leaning into craft, character, and storytelling at a time when most developers were chasing mechanics.
That decision, made from a studio founded in Vancouver, Canada, has carved out one of the most distinctive identities in the Games Global network.
The roots go back to 2010, when the team operated under the name LM Design Werks, building games for clients including EA, Zynga, GameHouse, and BC Lottery. That background as a development partner gave the studio an unusually broad technical and creative education before they ever released anything under their own brand.
By 2014, they were ready to make their own statement, and they did it with Epic City, a slot built around a post-Depression vision of an electrified utopia, full of bronze skyscrapers, zeppelins, and intercity rail networks that never existed.
