Retro Tapes Cluster Link Slot Review 2024

Get ready to dance, jiggle and jive with Retro Tapes Cluster Link from Push Gaming!

Push Gaming are looking to ‘break the slots mould’ in their own words with their latest exclusive feature, Cluster Link.

Push Gaming made Retro Tapes Cluster Link because they wanted to continue with their innovative and visually unique games, and as suspected, Retro Tapes Cluster Link takes its inspiration from the infamous Jammin’ Jars and Jammin’ Jars 2.

For this one, Push Gaming wanted to give their player base a new way of experiencing wins and an array of different features that can build up and multiply huge cluster wins.

We’re excited for this one, and you should be too, so let’s head to the dancefloor together in this Retro Tapes Cluster Link Slot Review

Retro Tapes Base

Retro Tapes Cluster Link is a 9 Row, 6 Colum Slot with a cluster pays mechanic.

To form a win, you’ll need at least 5 of any symbol to connect to each other horizontally and/or vertically.

When Cluster Wins occur, winning symbols are removed, and all remaining symbols on the board collapse downwards. New symbols fall in from the top of the screen to fill all available positions on the board.

This could lead to further winning combinations, similar to how Jammin’ Jars worked.

Retro Tapes Cluster Link is playable from as little as £/0.10 per spin, or as much as £/€100 per spin.

Retro Tapes Paytable

Wild Tape Symbol

The Wild Tape Symbol serves as a Wild Symbol that substitutes for all other symbols except the Magnet and Wild Multiplier Symbols.

All Wild Tape Symbols have an attached multiplier which starts from x1. When a Wild Tape participates in 1 or more cluster wins, it will increase its multiplier value by +1x.

Wild Tape Symbol

Wild Multiplier Symbol

The Wild Multiplier Symbol is available in both the Base Game and the Top Charts Feature.

This symbol distributes its multiplier value to all Wild Tape Symbols. After it has distributed its value, it will transform into an Instant Prize Symbol of a random value.

Instant Prize Symbols

The Instant Prize Symbols are bet multipliers.

When an Instant Prize Symbol lands in a cluster of 5 (minimum) Instant Prize symbols, it will pay out.

Instant Prize Symbols may land with the following values – 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 50xx, 1000x.

Magnet Feature

The Magnet Feature picks Random paying symbols of one kind from the grid and attracts them around its position to create a cluster win.

Magnet Symbols can attract Instant Prize Symbols if there are at least 4 of them in view. When a Cluster is created, the Magnet Symbol will transform into the paying symbol on an Instant Prize Symbol with a random value.

Top Charts Feature

When 3 or more Wild Tape Symbols land anywhere on the reels, the Top Charts Free Spins Feature is triggered.

Once triggered, the Wild Tape Symbols and Instant Prizes from the Base Game are stuck in the same position and carried over into the Top Charts Bonsu Feature.

During the Feature, each empty symbol position will spin to land one of the following symbols:

  • Wild Tape Symbol
  • Wild Multiplier Symbol
  • Instant Prize Symbols
  • Magnet Symbol
  • Extra Spin Symbol
  • Blank Tape Symbol

Each Instant Prize Symbol that lands will remain in its position for the entirety of the feature. All Instant Prize Symbol clusters are evaluated and paid at the end of the Feature.

Retro Tapes Cluster Link Free Spins

Jammin’ Jars was and still is, Iconic. The cute and colourful Jars live rent-free in the hearts of players everywhere, and it truly has earned its status as a hall of Famer.

It’s hard to measure up to the absolute genius that is Jammin’ Jars, yet we think Retro Tapes Cluster Link does a good job at holding its own. We’re not sure if Retro Tapes will enjoy quite the success that Jammin’ Jars did, but the very essence of Jammin’ Jars is alive and present here in Retro Tapes.

The same brilliant team worked on it behind the scenes, and in a sense, Retro Tapes is as loveable in every way.

The gameplay in the Base Game is extremely similar, but there are a lot of new things to experience. The Wild Multiplier Symbol that distributes its multiplier existed in neither of the Jammin’ Jars games, and the Magnet Feature is completely new as well.

Of course, Instant Prizes were available in Jammin’ Jars 2, but Push Gaming were keen to implement it here too. They do instant prizes much better than every other provider, and it’s become a staple of sorts at this point.

Free Spins is where Retro Tapes really shows its difference, and we must say, we’re a big fan of the way that it’s been handled, and it’s quite exciting to witness.

Potential-wise, Retro Tapes looks less capable than both Jammin’ Jars and Jammin’ Jars 2 with 10,000x as a maximum win cap. This might be disappointing to those who were expecting bigger and better, but it’s certainly nothing to scoff at.

Overall, Retro Tapes Cluster Link is a pleasure to play, and we think it does Jammin’ Jars real justice.
