1 Reel Buffalo Slot Review
A low sun burns orange over open grassland, snow-capped ridges catching the last light on the right and golden grass bending soft-focus along the bottom of the screen. It’s a handsome frame, and 1 Reel Buffalo needs it to be, because this is a game that asks a single reel to do the work of five. It largely succeeds: with no paylines and no free spins round, the push-your-luck bank at its centre is the entire reason to be here.
Spinomenal have made the single-reel format something of a habit, and this buffalo-themed entry sits alongside 1 Reel Mammoth, 1 Reel Caribbean Treasure and 1 Reel Shamrock in that run. Everything here rides on three symbols, a bank that fills as they land, and one decision about when to cash it out. The sunset is working hard while you make it.
Three Symbols and a Bank
Each spin scrolls a single symbol through the circular window, and occasionally two partial symbols are visible stacked as the reel turns. Landing an Eagle, Bear or Moose pushes that symbol’s progress bar up a level. Nothing here pays line wins at all.
Winnings don’t go straight to your balance either. They accumulate in a bank displayed beside the reel, and the whole game is built around deciding when to cash that bank out. A growing bank is visible money you haven’t actually claimed yet.
The full symbol set is short enough to list in full:
- Eagle, Bear and Moose – the three win symbols, each with its own five-step prize ladder
- Wild – advances all three ladders at once
- Reset Bank – wipes all progression and empties the bank
Four things can happen on any given spin, and each has its own outcome:
- Win symbol lands – the matching progress bar advances a level, and that level’s value goes into the bank
- Wild lands – all three progress bars advance a level each, with each level’s value banked
- Reset Bank lands – all progression and all banked money are wiped
- Any other outcome – the spin simply ends, with everything left as it was
The Wild is the symbol worth cheering for in the base game, because it moves every ladder at once. There’s no scatter anywhere in the game.
The Prize Ladder
Each of the three win symbols carries a five-step ladder, and the value paid at each step is a multiple of the total bet:
- Eagle: x1, x2, x4, x8, x12
- Bear: x3, x8, x15, x30, x100
- Moose: x10, x30, x80, x150, x250
Those values are multiples of the total bet, not a line bet, which matters in a game with no lines to bet on. The ladders are uneven by design. The Moose pays best from the very first step, but its early levels are worth less than the Bear’s third, so the symbols don’t compete so much as offer different pacing.
The bet itself can’t be changed while the bank holds money, so a session with a growing bank is a session locked to a single stake. Help, Settings and Collect are also disabled mid-spin, which keeps the pace brisk if nothing else.
Progressive Symbol Wins and the Bank
The engine of the game is the progress system. Every time a win symbol lands, its bar moves to the next level and the value of that level is added to the bank. The bank itself pays nothing until you act on it, and acting on it costs you everything you’ve built.
Pressing Collect moves the banked money to your balance, and in exchange all three ladders drop back to their first level. That’s the central decision in 1 Reel Buffalo: bank the money and lose the progression, or keep pushing the ladders upwards with an unbanked balance at risk.
It’s a push-your-luck structure, and it’s the reason a single-reel game can still generate tension. Every spin either grows something you haven’t claimed or does nothing, and a single symbol in the set actively takes it away.
Only three things move money out of or around the bank, and each carries a different price:
- Collect – pays the bank to your balance, resets all ladders
- Reset Bank symbol – pays nothing, resets all ladders and empties the bank
- Direct wins and the jackpot – paid straight to your balance, never entering the bank at all
Reset Bank, Final Level Wins and the Jackpot
A single symbol stands against everything you’re building. When the Reset Bank symbol comes up, every ladder returns to its first level and the bank goes back to zero. Nothing is paid, nothing is kept. It’s the game’s only outright losing outcome, and the reason an uncollected bank is never safe.
There’s a reward for pushing a ladder all the way. Once a symbol reaches its fifth and final level, every further landing of that symbol pays the final level amount, x12, x100 or x250 depending on the symbol, directly to your balance. Direct wins bypass the bank entirely, so they can’t be wiped by a reset.
Fill all three progress bars and the jackpot is awarded, shown as a fixed value tied to the current bet rather than a multiplier. After a jackpot win it disappears until the prizes reset, either through a Collect or a Reset Bank landing. The jackpot doesn’t sit in the bank; it’s paid out on completion.
The endgame therefore has a shape: three ladders maxed, every subsequent win-symbol landing paying full price to balance, and the jackpot waiting on whichever bar fills last. Getting there without a reset or a Collect is the long road this game offers.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.8/10
This is a game about a single decision, made over and over against a beautiful sunset, and it’s a more interesting decision than a lone reel has any right to carry. The bank is the best thing here: it makes every spin mean something, because each either grows money you haven’t claimed or leaves it exposed to a wipe. The final-level direct pays give the long push a real destination at up to x250.
Beyond that decision, there’s very little else. No bonus round, no second mechanic, and returns that take a real bite out of however long you stay. But for someone who enjoys a pure push-your-luck loop and wants a session measured in minutes rather than hours, this is a lovely place to graze.

Who makes 1 Reel Buffalo?
1 Reel Buffalo is made by Spinomenal, part of their range of single-reel titles that includes 1 Reel Mammoth and 1 Reel Shamrock. -
How do you trigger the jackpot in 1 Reel Buffalo?
The jackpot is awarded when all three symbol progress bars are filled. After a jackpot win, it disappears until the prizes are reset, either by collecting the bank or by landing the Reset Bank symbol. -
What does the Wild symbol do in 1 Reel Buffalo?
The Wild counts as landing all three win symbols at once, so the Eagle, Bear and Moose progress bars each move up a level on the same spin. -
What happens when the Reset Bank symbol lands?
Every prize progression returns to its first level and the bank drops to zero. Nothing is paid out when this happens. -
What does the Collect button do in 1 Reel Buffalo?
