3 Dragon Pots Ultimate Slot Review
Three fat ceramic pots sit along the top of the reel frame on a misty Chinese mountain terrace, a blue one, a green one and a purple one, each with a dragon curled round its rim. Below them, a golden tree sheds coins over the grid, heaped in drifts behind the jackpot plaques.
Most coin-collecting games ask you to watch a single grid fill up. This one is built to split its bonus round into up to three boards at once, each filling on its own clock, and that choice shapes everything about how it plays.
3 Dragon Pots Ultimate is Iron Dog Studio‘s take on the coin-collecting formula, running on a 5×3 grid at 95.09% RTP, in the same studio family as Dwarven Gems Megaways, Plucky Hens: Cluck Yeah and 1 Million Fortunes Megaways. It’s a lush, glossy look, and the three pots give it an identity of its own.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a straightforward five-reel, three-row set-up. The royals run A, K, Q and J, with a Frog, a Tiger and a Cat above them, plus a Red Envelope among the specials.
It’s a familiar ladder, and it doesn’t need to be anything else: the coloured coins are what the game is built around. Up to one coloured coin can appear per reel at any time, so a single spin can bring in several at once.
Wilds can land on all five reels and substitute for every non-special symbol. If a run of wilds is broken by a special symbol, the win pays out according to the paytable for the symbols that did connect. That’s the wild’s whole job here, and it does it without fuss.
Each coin is tied to its own Dragon, and the colour matters: whichever coins arrive together decide how many boards you’ll be playing when the feature opens. Land at least one, and you’re in.
3 Dragon Pots Ultimate: Hold & Win, Dragon Wizard and Bonus Buys
Hold & Win
The Hold & Win round triggers when at least one coloured coin lands on the board. You get three respins, winlines switch off, and the board splits into separate boards, one for each coloured coin type. Every coin from the triggering spin carries over into the same position on its own board.
Only a short list of symbols can appear during the round: the three Dragon coins, the Special Bonus symbol, the Mini, Minor, Major and Mega prize symbols, and blanks. Any non-blank symbol that lands resets the respin counter to three; blanks simply burn one.
A board activates if its colour was present on the triggering spin, or if its coin lands on the centre position of the left-most reel. The round ends when respins run out on every active board, or when the boards fill with symbols.
The Three Dragon Coins
Each Dragon coin does a different job, and the round is really a study in which of them turns up.
- Blue Dragon Coin: adds a random cash value to a random cash symbol every time a new one lands.
- Green Dragon Coin: applies a random multiplier of 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x to all cash symbols when the spins complete.
- Purple Dragon Coin: collects a random cash value on every spin and adds it to its own total.
The cash values on the special symbols are set out in full:
- Special Bonus symbol: 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x or 10x stake.
- Blue, Green and Purple Dragon Coins: 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x or 10x stake.
Fill a board completely and it awards the Grand Jackpot of 2,500x the stake, which is the game’s top prize. The Purple Dragon Coin is the one to watch on a long run: its total climbs with every spin and lands as a single payout when the feature closes.
The Dragon Wizard
When a board reaches zero respins and would normally end, the Dragon Wizard may step in and grant it one extra respin. If a symbol lands, the counter resets to three and play continues. If nothing lands, the board closes as it would have done.
The Wizard can intervene more than once on the same board, and multiple times across a single feature. If several boards hit zero respins together, they’re processed top to bottom.
It’s a small mercy of a mechanic, and on a nearly full board it can be the difference between closing out and collecting the Grand.
Bonus Buy and Ante Bet
There are two ways to pay your way into the round, plus a stake-side option, and each carries its own return figure.
- Bonus Buy, Hold & Win: 60x stake, triggers the round with any features active, RTP 95.35%.
- Bonus Buy, All Features: 100x stake, triggers the round with all features active, RTP 95.55%.
- Ante Bet: a 50% bet increase for a doubled chance of the Hold & Win Bonus, RTP 95%.
The buy options edge the base game’s return slightly, which is a rarity worth knowing about. The Ante Bet sits just under it, so the price of a doubled trigger chance is a fraction of a point of return.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Playing this is a waiting game, then a split-screen scramble. The base game coasts on royals and three animal symbols, and the only reason to choose it over any other coin-collector is what happens after the coins land: three boards filling on their own timers, with the Wizard repeatedly snatching a dying board back from the edge. That’s the best thing in the game, and it earns it.
The weakness is that nothing above the 2,500x Grand is worth dreaming about. Every other payout is a stack of single-digit multiples, so a great round feels like a good round. For players who enjoy the slow coin-by-coin build and don’t need a five-figure ceiling, that’s a fair deal; the pot-hunters after the Grand will find the chase genuinely tense.
Anyone wanting big base-game wins or a huge multiplier should pass this by. Everyone else will find a well-made game with three good ideas working together, and coins enough under the tree.
