3 Powers of Zeus: POWER COMBO Slot Review
Two golden lions recline at either end of a curved wooden stage, a halo of white light blooming behind the gilded reel frame against a soft blue-grey sky. All For One Studios have built 3 Powers of Zeus: POWER COMBO on that stage, and its best idea is a rare one: a bonus round arriving mid-bonus is the whole point.
Each scatter colour awards its own eight free spins, but two or three together stack their powers and grow the grid, up to 7776 ways. It runs at 96.00% RTP with high volatility on a 5×3, 243-way base grid, and stakes run from 0.20 to 20.00. The thunder god’s take on the POWER COMBO formula, first seen in 3 Shamrock Pots, is the best of the family.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a 243-ways engine: matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left pay out, and only the highest combination per symbol counts. The total payout on any spin is the sum of all way wins. Wins land on roughly 29.61% of spins. That’s a hit rate built for steady small returns, and the paytable shows what those returns look like.
Symbol pays, as multiples of stake:
- Red Eagle/Phoenix: 2 pays 0.10x, 3 pays 0.40x, 4 pays 0.80x, 5 pays 2.00x Purple Bull: 3 pays 0.30x, 4 pays 0.50x, 5 pays 1.00x Blue Pegasus: 3 pays 0.30x, 4 pays 0.50x, 5 pays 1.00x Golden Cup: 3 pays 0.20x, 4 pays 0.40x, 5 pays 0.80x Gold Coin Medallion: 3 pays 0.20x, 4 pays 0.40x, 5 pays 0.80x Red Helmet: 3 pays 0.20x, 4 pays 0.30x, 5 pays 0.50x Winged Griffin Head: 3 pays 0.20x, 4 pays 0.30x, 5 pays 0.50x Club: 3 pays 0.10x, 4 pays 0.20x, 5 pays 0.40x Pink Diamond: 3 pays 0.10x, 4 pays 0.20x, 5 pays 0.40x Heart: 3 pays 0.10x, 4 pays 0.20x, 5 pays 0.40x Green Spade: 3 pays 0.10x, 4 pays 0.20x, 5 pays 0.40x
That’s a flat ladder. Five of the top symbol returns twice your stake, and everything below it pays less. Wins come often enough to keep the balance ticking, but they’re rarely worth much on their own. The game’s real money is all in the scatters.
Wilds appear on reels two, three and four, substituting for everything except scatters and coins, and they don’t pay on their own. There are three scatter colours, all present in the base game, and each carries its own power:
- Red scatter: triggers Wild Power free spins Blue scatter: triggers Rolling Power free spins Green scatter: triggers Jackpot Power free spins Two colours on one spin: triggers free spins with both powers combined Three colours on one spin: triggers free spins with all three powers
One housekeeping detail worth knowing: the coloured scatter that triggers free spins is removed from the reels for the duration of that round. So if you enter on a red trigger, no further reds can land until the round is over. The graphical collection of scatters on screen is purely decorative and doesn’t influence triggering.
3 Powers of Zeus: POWER COMBO Free Spins & Powers
Wild Power – Red Scatter
Eight free spins with a simple, potent twist: every wild that lands converts the symbols directly above and below it to wild as well, inside the visible reel area only. On a four-row grid a single wild can therefore light up a three-position stretch. It’s the most basic of the three powers, and the one that scales hardest as rows get added.
Rolling Power – Blue Scatter
Also eight spins. After any win, the winning symbols are removed from the reels and replaced with new random ones. If that replacement forms new wins, the roll continues, and it keeps going until no winning combination is left on the board. A single spin can pay several times over.
Jackpot Power – Green Scatter
The green scatter brings the coin collection. Coin symbols reveal either a cash prize of 1x or 10x your total bet, or a coloured thunderbolt that feeds the matching jackpot container beside the reels. Each label has its own container, and a full container pays out:
- Grand Jackpot: 10,000x bet, filled by 5 red thunderbolts Major Jackpot: 500x bet, filled by 5 yellow thunderbolts Minor Jackpot: 50x bet, filled by 5 green thunderbolts Mini Jackpot: 25x bet, filled by 4 blue thunderbolts
Two rules shape the collection. Thunderbolts gathered during free spins are dismissed when the round ends, so there’s no carrying progress between triggers. And if Jackpot Power is running when a second power is added mid-round, the thunderbolt collection simply continues alongside it. The 10,000x Grand is the ceiling on this game’s prize ladder.
Combined Powers
Here’s the mechanic the game is named for. Different coloured scatters landing on the same spin trigger free spins with combined powers, and a new colour landing during an active round adds its power immediately, resetting the remaining spins to eight. Several scatters of the same colour add nothing: only new colours count.
The grid grows with each active power:
- One power: 5 reels, 4 rows, 1024 ways Two powers: 5 reels, 5 rows, 3125 ways Three powers: 5 reels, 6 rows, 7776 ways
Free spins can’t be retriggered in the usual sense; the reset on upgrade is the only way the count goes back up. All bets during the round match the triggering spin, and free spins play out automatically.
Buy Feature
The Buy Feature is available in the base game only and triggers free spins instantly. There are seven options:
- 35x bet: Wild Power 35x bet: Rolling Power 50x bet: Jackpot Power 80x bet: Wild Power + Rolling Power 80x bet: Wild Power + Jackpot Power 80x bet: Rolling Power + Jackpot Power 110x bet: all three powers
Every buy option runs at 96.00% RTP, identical to the base game, so there’s no return penalty for skipping the wait. The 110x triple-power buy is the only way to guarantee the full 7776-way grid from the first spin.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
This is a game about patience in front of a very pretty stage. Sessions drift: you spin, the goldwork glitters, small wins tick by, and you stay because any spin might hand you two colours at once. That combined round is the one reason to sit down here, and it’s a good one.
Its strength is that the upgrades never cost you. A second power landing mid-round resets your spins to eight, so the round you’re in gets longer and bigger rather than being cut short. Its weakness is everything outside that: single-power rounds are thin, and the flat paytable means the base game gives you almost nothing to feel while you wait.
It’s a good home for players who enjoy bonuses that fuse into something larger and don’t need the reels themselves to pay for the wait. Anyone who wants a base game with its own pulse will find Olympus quiet between thunderclaps. For the patient, the payoff up on that gilded stage is worth the climb.
