3 Thunder Bolts: Super Wheel Slot Review
Electric-blue storm clouds churn behind the reels, lightning forks streaking across a night sky while a huge gold-rimmed wheel arch glows above the grid. Fugaso’s 3 Thunder Bolts: Super Wheel is a slot that spends almost nothing on its base game and bets everything on one bonus round, and unusually for a coin-collector, that’s a wager that mostly pays off.
It runs on a 5×3 grid as part of the Running Wins Trinity series, alongside Super Thunder Express, Blazing Power Wheel and 3X Atomic Coins in the studio’s storm-and-coins corner of the catalogue.
The Grand Jackpot pays 1,000x the bet, and there’s a single route to it. What makes that narrow target work is the trigger: three colours of lightning land on the reels, and whichever ones show up decide what the bonus round brings. One narrow storm, then, but a well-wired one.
Storm Clouds and Lightning Symbols
The base game plays out on a five-reel, three-row grid, with the wheel arch framing the top of the frame and cloud banks lit from within sitting along the bottom edge. It’s a glossy, neon-soaked look, and the artwork leans hard on the contrast between the dark sky and the saturated colour of the wheel’s panels.
Wins come from the standard symbol set, and a WILD substitutes for other symbols, covering multiple positions when it lands wide. The symbols that matter most aren’t the payers, though. They’re the three coloured lightning Bonus symbols, each carrying a cash value of its own and each tied to one of the bonus game’s features:
- Red Bonus symbol – can trigger the bonus game with the Double Reels feature
- Green Bonus symbol – can trigger the bonus game with the Multiplier feature
- Purple Bonus symbol – can trigger the bonus game with the Extra Re-Spin feature
The trigger isn’t guaranteed. Landing coloured lightning is a chance event, and a single spin can bring several colours at once, with any, multiple or all three features riding the same trigger.
The jackpot ladder runs alongside all of this, displayed above the reels with four tiers that step down sharply from the top prize. The values scale with the bet, so the figures below are multiples of your stake rather than fixed amounts:
- Grand – 1,000x the bet
- Major – 100x the bet
- Minor – 30x the bet
- Mini – 15x the bet
How those jackpots are actually won is the bonus round’s business, and that’s where the storm breaks.
The Trinity Link Bonus Game
The Trinity Link Bonus game starts with three re-spins. Once it begins, only Bonus symbols can appear on the reels, and every symbol that lands carries a cash value that’s added to your total at the end.
The re-spin counter works like this:
- Landing an additional Bonus symbol resets the counter back to three
- If the Extra Re-Spin feature is active, the reset goes to four instead
- The round ends when the re-spins finish or every position fills with Bonus symbols
Fill all positions and the Grand Jackpot is awarded on top of everything the symbols hold. That’s the round’s biggest outcome and the reason a full board matters so much here.
Double Reels Feature
Triggered by red Bonus symbols, the Double Reels feature adds a second, independent reel set to the bonus game. When the round begins, the Bonus symbols are duplicated onto that second set, so you’re playing two boards at once.
Each reel set runs its own separate re-spin counter, and Bonus symbols appear randomly on both throughout the round. It’s effectively two chances at a full board, and two Grand Jackpot shots where a single-set round gives you one.
Multiplier Feature
Triggered by green Bonus symbols, the Multiplier feature can fire on any spin during the bonus game. When it activates, a x2, x3 or x5 multiplier is applied to one or more random Bonus symbols.
Multipliers stack. If one strikes the same symbol more than once, the values multiply together, so a x2 followed by a x3 on a single symbol leaves it carrying x6. All multipliers are applied to the symbols’ values when the round ends.
Extra Re-Spin Feature
Triggered by purple Bonus symbols, the Extra Re-Spin feature is the simplest of the three. Instead of resetting the re-spin counter to three when a new symbol lands, it resets to four, buying the round one extra spin of breathing room.
Combined with Double Reels, it’s the feature that most changes the arithmetic of a long round, since every reset on either reel set keeps a bigger buffer alive. The three features are also designed to stack: a single trigger can carry any combination of them.
Win Potential and the Jackpot Ladder
With no RTP, volatility or bet range to quote for this title, the honest read on win potential is structural rather than numerical. The biggest stated prize is the Grand Jackpot at 1,000x the bet, awarded by filling every position on a board.
Everything else flows from the symbols’ own values, boosted by whatever multipliers have struck them along the way. The shape of the ladder is worth noticing. The drop from Grand to Major is a factor of ten, and from Major to Minor another of more than three, so the round pays out in steeply separated tiers rather than a smooth curve.
The Multiplier feature is what pushes a round beyond its face value. Multiplied symbols compound with the stacking rule, and on a Double Reels round the feature works separately for each reel set, which doubles the surface area for multipliers to land. That’s where a memorable total would come from.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
This is mostly a game of watching a storm and waiting for lightning in the right colour. The base game asks for patience, and the single reason to sit through it is that no two bonus rounds arrive the same way: the colours you land decide whether you’re hunting one board or two, with multipliers or without.
The best idea in the build is the doubling. A duplicated board with its own re-spin counter turns one coin-collector into two running in parallel, and paired with stacking multipliers it’s where the memorable totals live. The weakest part is what a stalled round pays: the ladder drops a factor of ten below the Grand, so a round that never builds finishes thin after a long wait for it.
It suits coin-collector fans after a long build and a roll of the feature dice. Those wanting a base game with its own tricks will find the sky quiet between storms. For the rest, the gold-rimmed wheel at the top of that electric sky is a fair thing to chase.
