Bonanza Link: Storm Train Slot Review
A gold locomotive pushes out of storm clouds above a moonlit savannah, lightning forked behind it and the track running straight at you through blue fog. Beneath that spectacle sits a deliberately thin game: ten fixed lines, a Wolf that pays from two of a kind, and a base game whose real job is ferrying you towards the bonus. Fugaso have built Bonanza Link: Storm Train as a 5×4 grid with 10 fixed paylines, a 96.88% RTP rising to 97.15% in the bonus, and a 5,000x max win.
It shares DNA with Trump It Bonanza x1000: Power Scatter and Super Thunder Express, two Fugaso titles built around the same collect-and-climb bonus thinking. Outlaw Gold X-UNLOCK is another close cousin. The storm here isn’t just for show: it’s the whole journey, and the bonus round is where the weather turns.
Base Game and Symbols
Bet lines pay left to right, and only the highest win per line counts. Ten fixed lines is a narrow game by modern standards, so the symbol values do the work. The Wolf heads the paytable and pays from just two of a kind, which softens the wait for the bigger combinations.
- Wolf: 0.5x for two, 5x for three, 20x for four, 200x for five
- Buffalo: 3x for three, 15x for four, 100x for five
- Cougar and Eagle: 2x for three, 10x for four, 50x for five
- A and K: 0.2x for three, 2.5x for four, 10x for five
- Q, J and 10: 0.2x for three, 1x for four, 5x for five
All values are multiples of the total bet. The Wild appears only on reels 1 and 5, substitutes for everything except the Scatter, and can land with a random multiplier of x2, x3 or x10 on main game spins.
Money Symbols are the other half of the base game, and they’re what the whole bonus round feeds on. Each one lands carrying a value from the ladder below, and the Wild collects every Money value on the reels whenever it shows up. A Wild on reel 1 or 5 with Money Symbols scattered elsewhere scoops the lot.
- 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and 7x of the total bet
- 10x, 25x, 100x, 250x and 500x of the total bet
Scatters appear on all reels. Land 3 or more and the Bonanza Link Bonus activates. There’s also a helping hand built in: when 2 Scatters land and the third is missing, the game may trigger a Second Chance Scatter Re-Spin on one of the reels.
The Bonanza Link Bonus
Three, 4 or 5 Scatters award 5, 7 or 9 free spins respectively. Once inside, the round runs on the Bonanza Progress Trail, and the Wild becomes the engine of everything.
During free spins, each Wild collects all Money symbol values from the reels, and every Wild landed is banked in the progress trail. Every 7 Wilds collected triggers 5 more free spins with an increased Money symbol multiplier.
- First trigger: Money symbols multiplied by 2x
- Second trigger: Money symbols multiplied by 3x
- Third trigger: Money symbols multiplied by 10x
The new multiplier applies when the next batch of spins begins, so a trigger doesn’t boost the spin you’re on. The trail caps at three triggers, and after that the round simply runs out its spins. The RTP inside the bonus runs at 97.15%.
Bonanza Link Features
The bonus round carries three extra modifiers that fire depending on which symbols are on the reels. They’re the reason a spin that looks dead can turn into something.
If Wilds appear without any Money symbols, the Bonanza Link Feature may activate: all reels re-spin while the Wilds stay locked in place, improving the odds of Money symbols landing next to them.
The Lightning Blitz Feature covers the same gap from the other end. When Wilds appear without Money symbols, it can drop additional Money symbols into random positions on the spot, no re-spin required.
When the problem is reversed, Money symbols with no Wilds to collect them, the Train Boost Feature may kick in and spin the reels again to try to reveal Wilds. The name is doing honest work: the train arrives to pick up the money.
Running Spins and the Buy Feature
The Buy Feature starts locked. A Progress Counter counts down as you spin in the base game, and once it completes the buy option unlocks and stays active for the session. It’s a structure that rewards sticking around rather than paying up immediately.
Purchasing the Bonanza Link Bonus guarantees at least 3 Scatters, so the minimum entry is 5 free spins with the Progress Trail live from the first spin. The bonus is initiated with the triggering bet value, and you can’t buy with insufficient funds.
Running Spins is a separate toggle. Activate it and every spin carries an increased chance of triggering the Running Wins Bonus, and it stays on until you switch it off. It’s an option aimed squarely at the bonus hunter rather than the casual spinner.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
This is a long wait for a good bonus. Most of a session is thin ten-line spinning under storm clouds, with only the Wolf’s two-of-a-kind pays and the odd Second Chance re-spin to keep things ticking over, and the whole point of it is reaching the round where the train actually arrives.
That round earns the wait. The Progress Trail gives the bonus a shape most free spins rounds don’t have, because every Wild nudges you towards more spins at a fatter multiplier, and the three rescue modifiers mean a weak board can still turn itself around mid-round. The ceiling is the let-down: a 5,000x cap on a game whose Money symbols top out at 500x keeps the big result firmly out of reach, and the locked Buy Feature adds a long on-ramp before you can shortcut any of it.
It suits the patient sort who enjoy a bonus that builds while it runs, and the 97.15% RTP inside the round is fair reward for the effort. Anyone after quick hits or an early buy button will find the storm outstays its welcome.
