7th Squadron DoubleMax Slot Review
Three goggled pilots wave little red flags from the top of an orange metal cabinet, brass gauges glinting beside them, while biplanes drone over a grass strip and a red pickup sits outside a shopfront signed Swells. 7th Squadron DoubleMax spends more of itself on that single screen than on its feature list, and the art is doing more work here than a paytable topped by 5x has any right to ask of it.
Underneath the biplanes sits a 5×4 grid running 3,125 ways at 94% RTP, with volatility rated Super High. Stakes run from 0.20 to 50 per spin. The DoubleMax system has carried BulletProof games before, among them Diamond Symphony DoubleMax and Vault Raiders DoubleMax, and 7th Squadron sits squarely in that family rather than beside the WildEnergy titles.
Green hills and fat cumulus clouds fill out the frame, and a red-and-blue biplane flies low at the right edge, close enough to see the tiny pilot in the cockpit, while two yellow biplanes trail smoke higher up. It’s a lot of art for one screen. Whether a doubling multiplier can keep a barnstormer aloft is the question the game has to answer.
Base Game & Features
The grid is a 5×4 arrangement, five reels each four symbols high. It pays across 3,125 ways, so there are no fixed paylines to trace. Matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left make a win, and the more of the board they cover, the better the pay.
The headline numbers, at a glance:
- Hit frequency: 25%, so roughly one spin in four pays
- Volatility: Super High
- RTP: 94%
- Ways: 3,125, across a 5×4 grid
- Stakes: 0.20 to 50 per spin
Those numbers tell you what kind of ride this is before a single reel stops. A quarter of spins paying something keeps the board moving, but Super High volatility means the paying ones are often small and the meaningful wins arrive in bursts rather than on a schedule.
The symbol set keeps the aviation theme running, split into three premiums, three mid-pays and five royals. All values below are multiples of the line stake:
- Biplane: 1x for three, 2x for four, 5x for five
- Goggles: 0.6x for three, 1x for four, 2x for five
- Aviator Star: 0.5x for three, 0.7x for four, 1x for five
- Propeller: 0.5x for three, 0.7x for four, 1x for five
- Globe: 0.3x for three, 0.4x for four, 0.6x for five
- Fuel Can: 0.3x for three, 0.4x for four, 0.6x for five
- A, K, Q, J, 10: 0.2x for three, 0.3x for four, 0.5x for five
The Biplane leads the table and it isn’t close. Five of them return five times the stake, while five royals pay half of that at 0.5x. Goggles sit between the two at 2x for a full line of five.
The middle of the table is tightly packed. Aviator Star and Propeller pay identically, as do Globe and Fuel Can, so the practical difference between six of the nine symbols comes down to how often each lands. It’s a steep drop from top to bottom, which fits a game of this volatility.
Win Multiplier
The Win Multiplier meter sits bottom left of the reels, and it’s the game’s central idea. It works in three steps:
- The meter starts at x1
- A win pushes it to x2, doubling every paying combination from that point
- Further wins keep doubling it, x2 to x4 and onward, for as long as the chain runs
Because each win applies the meter’s current value, a chain of wins pays progressively more from consecutive symbol drops. A run that begins with a royals win can end with the same symbols paying four or eight times their face value.
The meter doesn’t hold its gain indefinitely. The value resets once a spin’s chain ends, so the base game builds in bursts rather than carrying a permanent multiplier forward. Every new spin starts from x1 again.
Scatter Symbols
Scatters land on the reels alongside the regular symbols. They don’t need to sit on adjacent reels or line up in any way, which is what makes them different from everything else on the board.
They’re the symbols to watch, because they’re the game’s route away from the base game and into the bonus round. Land enough of them and the feature begins; the details sit in the next section.
7th Squadron DoubleMax Bonus Round
The bonus round is where the DoubleMax meter does its real work. Away from the base game the multiplier’s climb matters more, since a run of wins inside the feature can push the meter well past the heights the base game reaches, and the value of the round compounds with every step.
Getting there runs two ways:
- Landing scatter symbols on the reels during normal play
- Buying direct entry through the Buy a Bonus menu
Inside the round, the same doubling meter governs the payouts. What changes is the room it has to grow: a single long chain of wins can turn modest symbol pays into something far larger, because every step of the meter applies to every combination that follows it.
With Super High volatility behind it, that compounding is the whole point of the feature. The base game’s meter rarely gets past x4 before the chain dies; a bonus round that keeps winning extends the same ladder much further. The maximum win is 15,000x the stake, and that’s where the ceiling on a doubling run sits.
Bonus Buy
For anyone who’d rather not wait on scatters, a Buy a Bonus button sits top right of the base game screen. It opens the feature purchase menu directly, skipping the base game entirely.
The Buy a Bonus option costs 120x your chosen stake, which you pick on the popup screen. What the buy gets you is the same round the scatter route awards, with the same doubling meter and the same compounding behaviour once wins start landing.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.2/10
You come to 7th Squadron DoubleMax for the view. It’s one idea and a lot of paint: the doubling meter climbing while biplanes drone over the hills, a spin’s fortunes decided by how long one chain holds together. That’s the whole experience, and on a good run it’s genuinely tense.
The doubling meter earns its place, because it makes a modest paytable worth reading – the same chain that pays nothing at x1 can return eight times face value three drops later. The weakness is everything around it: a feature list that stops at one meter and a scatter, with all of it adding up to a maximum win of 15,000x the stake.
Anyone who wants a roster of bonus modes will find the hangar fairly empty. For players who enjoy watching one mechanic do its work, wrapped in some of the friendliest art BulletProof have shipped, this is a charming little aircraft – just don’t expect the flight to have many destinations.
