Action Boost Treasure Trove Slot Review
A tropical pirate cove, three gold-stuffed treasure chests perched along the top of the frame, and a parchment map with a horned skull glowing at its heart. Action Boost Treasure Trove from SpinPlay Games spends its entire base game telling you the reels don’t matter: the top symbol pays just 5x the line bet, and the whole point of spinning is feeding coins to those chests, because the colour mix you collect decides which of three completely different bonus rounds you walk away with.
It runs on a 5×4 grid with 20 paylines in the base game, high volatility, a 96.27% RTP, and stakes from 0.20 to 40.00. It sits in the same family as Action Boost Max Dragon’s Cache and 3 Lucky Rainbows Action Boost Max, though here the coins do the choosing rather than the pots. The map is the thing to watch.
Base Game & Features
The reels sit on a tropical shore, jungle cliffs behind them and turquoise water in front. Five reels, four rows, and 20 fixed paylines paying left to right from the first reel. A payline is a line of adjacent positions running across the reels, and a win needs matching symbols next to each other on one. Where multiple combinations land on a single line, only the highest pays.
Payouts are calculated on the initial bet, which is the total bet divided by the payline cost of 20, and the total payout is the sum of every line win in a spin. Hit frequency is 33.68%, so roughly a spin in three returns something. Stakes run from 0.20 up to 40.00 per spin. Pirate Ship symbols are wild, substituting for everything except the bonus symbols, and they can form their own winning combinations too.
The paytable is modest at the top and standard at the bottom, with pays as multiples of the line bet:
- Pirate: 1x for three, 2x for four, 5x for five
- Parrot and Crossed Swords: 0.25x, 0.5x, 2.5x
- Pirate Hat and Spyglass: 0.25x, 0.5x, 2x
- A, K, Q, J, 10, 9: 0.1x, 0.25x, 1x
Five pirates at the top stake is a five-times-the-line win, which tells you the base game isn’t where the money lives. The coins are. Green, red, purple and skull coins land on the reels and collect into the matching chest above them, and the skull coin has its own job on the map to the left.
There’s no buy menu here. Every round has to be earned through the coin collection, which keeps the base spins meaningful even when they pay nothing.
Action Boost Treasure Trove Free Spins & Action Boosts
Action Boost Free Spins
Whenever one or more coins appear, there’s a chance the free spins trigger. Each coin collects to its matching chest, and the mix of coins that collect decides which Action Boost is awarded. The bet multiplier stays the same as the triggering spin.
Map Spin Feature
Every skull coin that lands collects to the skull, and each one carries a chance of triggering a Map Spin. When it fires, all maps are active and one spin of the map is awarded. Coins landing on the maps trigger the free spins, with the combination deciding the Action Boost.
The Map Spin can also pay out the jackpots directly: MEGA, MAJOR, MINOR or MINI. A “5000X Win Jackpots” banner sits over the reels as the ladder’s shop window.
Green Coin Action Boost
Five free spins, and the grid changes shape: all reels grow to six symbol positions and 40 lines are played. Every gold coin awards a bonus credit prize or a Map Spin, and one Map Spin is given for each gold coin that awards one.
The Map Spin either pays a credit prize or upgrades a symbol to the Pirate for the remaining spins, with upgrades applied before wins are paid. Any reel carrying a wild ship is nudged until the whole reel is wild, and all wins are paid after the nudge. That’s the round’s signature: a taller grid, more lines, and full wild reels landing on it.
Red Coin Action Boost
Ten free spins aimed squarely at the jackpot ladder. Every gold coin awards a gem, a bonus credit prize or a Map Spin, and Map Spins award gems, credit prizes or a jackpot boost that lifts the relevant jackpot for the rest of the round.
- 6 Red Gems win the MEGA jackpot
- 5 Purple Gems win the MAJOR
- 4 Blue Gems win the MINOR
- 3 Green Gems win the MINI
Collect a full set and that jackpot pays, the gems reset, and the ladder can be climbed again within the same round. That reset is the sharpest detail in the game.
Purple Coin Action Boost
Five free spins with a random multiplier of 2, 3 or 5 on every spin, applied to all line wins and bonus credit prizes. Gold coins award credit prizes, one or two extra spins, or a Map Spin, and the Map Spin adds credit prizes or up to three more spins.
It’s the round that keeps extending itself. The multipliers don’t touch the jackpots, but everything else gets lifted.
Multiple Coin Action Boost
Land the right coins on a single base spin and the rounds stack: free spins play out with every triggered Action Boost active at once. Ten spins if the red coin is in the mix, five otherwise.
The purple multiplier applies to line wins and credit prizes, not jackpots, and the green reel growth and red gem collection run alongside each other. During a stacked round, the maps active in the Map Spin are set by the Action Boost awarded. One spin triggering two or all three is the ceiling of what this format offers, and with the jackpots set at 5,000x, the ladder is the number to aim at.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Most of a session here is island downtime: small line wins trickling in, three chests filling above the reels, and one good spin of the map being the whole reason you sat down. That’s not a criticism so much as the shape of the thing, and SpinPlay have built it this way before, in Action Boost Max Dragon’s Cache.
The best of it is that the chests open onto three genuinely different games, not one bonus in three colours, and the gem ladder resetting mid-round means a single set of spins can pay twice. Where it drags is everything underneath: a paytable capped at 5x the line bet and a 5,000x jackpot ceiling as the only fixed target, so the reels themselves never become interesting.
Jacket hunters and players who enjoy watching a system build will find the trove worth the digging; anyone who wants the spinning to be the point will find the island quiet. It suits the patient, and the impatient will want a different map.
