Alexander S Conquest Slot Review
Alexander S Conquest is one of the rare slots where the reels answer back. The mountain-lake camp is easy on the eye, all striped tents and golden scroll pillars, but the design lives in the grid: reels grow while they pay and surrender ground the moment they stop, so every spin is spent defending what the last one won. High 5 Games have built a game where the board itself is the opponent.
The interesting part isn’t the view, though. It’s that the reels themselves won’t sit still. Alexander S Conquest runs on a 6×4 grid with high volatility and a 96.0% RTP, played across anywhere between 4,096 and 1,000,000 ways depending on how far the reels have stretched.
It sits in the studio’s company alongside Da Vinci DeluxeWays and Striking Tiger, both of which share its taste for expanding play areas. An empire, it turns out, is measured in ways rather than multipliers.
The Way Out Ways Feature
Every reel starts with four symbol positions. Land an expand icon on a reel and it grows, adding positions above or below the default row on subsequent bets, up to three extra above and three below. A fully stretched reel is ten positions tall, and with six reels that’s how the game reaches seven figures of ways.
There are six distinct expand icons, and which ones can land depends on how far a reel has already grown:
- Upward icons grow a reel by one, two or three positions above the default row
- Downward icons grow a reel by one, two or three positions below it
- An icon that adds two or three positions only appears on reels with room left in that direction
- The largest upward icon needs a reel still at its default height above; the largest downward icon needs a reel still at its default height below
Growth isn’t permanent. On each bet, any expanded reel that produced neither a win nor a further expansion shrinks by one position above and one below where it can.
Progress is also tied to the bet level it was earned at. Change your stake and the empire reverts to its borders.
There’s a reward for pushing a reel all the way. Once all three additional positions have been added above or below a reel, a Wild is placed on a random default position on reels two to five, one that doesn’t already hold a Wild, and it stays for the next three bets.
The wild substitutes for everything except the scatter symbols, and it only ever appears through this expansion route: a reel has to reach its topmost or bottommost position first. Wilds also sit only on the four default positions of reels two to five, never on the expanded rows themselves.
Symbols can shift position on a reel when an expand icon lands. It looks dramatic but changes nothing. The outcome is settled regardless, and any shifted wilds return to their original positions at the start of the next bet.
Paytable
Wins pay left to right, one symbol from each adjacent reel, and the same symbol in a different position on a reel pays again. Only the highest win is paid for each combination, and scatter symbols award in any position. Values below are credit wins, shown without bet modifiers.
- Purple creature: 5 for three, 10 for four, 25 for five, 80 for six
- Lion: 5 for three, 10 for four, 25 for five, 80 for six
- Red creature: 4 for three, 8 for four, 20 for five, 50 for six
- Teal creature: 4 for three, 8 for four, 20 for five, 50 for six
- Warrior with gold shield: 2 for three, 3 for four, 5 for five, 8 for six
- Warrior with red shield: 2 for three, 3 for four, 5 for five, 8 for six
- Warrior with spear: 2 for three, 3 for four, 5 for five, 8 for six
- Warrior with sword: 2 for three, 3 for four, 5 for five, 8 for six
- Red flag: 2 for three, 3 for four, 5 for five, 8 for six
Free Games Bonus
Three or more Bonus symbols during the base game starts the Free Games Bonus. Bonus and Wild are both scatter symbols, they land only on reels two to five, and a Bonus appearing on a Wild counts for triggering purposes. The bonus runs on its own set of reels, different from the base game’s.
The Way Out Ways Feature carries into the round, with one important upgrade. Expand icons still grow the reels, up to the same three positions above and three below, but a wild earned here behaves differently:
- In the base game, completing a reel’s expansion adds a Wild for the next three bets
- During free games, that Wild stays for the remainder of the bonus
- Each fully expanded reel adds its Wild to a random default position on reels two to five that doesn’t already hold one
Persistent wilds change the arithmetic. A board that takes twenty spins to build in the base game can hold its wilds here while the reels keep stretching, so the later spins of a long bonus play across more ways with more substitutes in place.
The round ends when no free games remain or when 100 have been played. Retriggers are built in: three Bonus symbols during the round award an additional two spins, and four award an additional three, with Bonus symbols on Wilds counting again.
The bonus pay tables run on the same symbol values as the base game, and wins during the round are settled the same way: left to right, one symbol per adjacent reel, highest combination only.
Expanded reels in the bonus are their own reel sets, so a reel that has grown in the base game starts the free games at its default height.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.8/10
This is a slot about holding ground, and that’s the reason to give it a spin: no other reel set punishes a losing streak by physically shrinking the board you’d spent the last twenty spins conquering. Alexander never fought a defensive war this honest.
The strength is the free games round, where wilds stick for the whole bonus instead of three bets, so a long round keeps compounding while the reels keep growing. The weakness is the base game’s short memory: a few dry spins and the territory’s gone, and your progress dies with any change of stake. Six of the top symbol paying 80 doesn’t reward the patience either.
It’s a rewarding choice for anyone who enjoys a slow campaign with a map that redraws itself spin by spin. If your taste runs to instant Gratification and a fixed grid, the retreats will grate. For the patient, there’s a genuinely engrossing empire to defend here, tents, mountains and all.
