Amazing Link Christmas Boost Slot Review
Green and pink aurora ribbons streak a starry sky over a snowbound village of gabled cottages, with three giant barber-pole candy sticks flanking the reels. Amazing Link Christmas Boost is a game where almost nothing of consequence happens on the paylines – the top standard symbol pays just 5x for a full line – and the entire experience has been pushed into five features, three of which can interrupt any spin that fails on its own. That’s the actual design, and it’s either the appeal or the irritation.
SpinPlay Games runs it at 96.49% RTP on high volatility, across a 5×3 grid with 20 fixed paylines, with stakes from 0.20 to 50.00 per spin. Hit frequency is 28.91%, so roughly one spin in four pays anything at all. Those numbers sit close to Amazing Link Athena, covered here in 2024, and Amazing Link Pegasus after it. The seasonal paint is most of what’s new, and five features decide whether that’s enough.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a 20-fixed-payline affair where wins run left to right from the first reel, and only the highest combination counts on each line. If several winning combinations land on a single payline, again only the highest pays. Elf symbols are wild, substituting for everything except the Bonus and Amazing symbols, and they can form their own winning combinations too.
Bet structure is worth a sentence because the payouts hang off it. Each spin costs a total bet, the initial bet is that total divided by the 20 payline cost, and payline wins are paid as multiples of that initial bet. The paytable is a flat one, as Amazing Link games tend to be. Values below are multiples of the line bet:
- Polar Bear: 1x for three, 2x for four, 5x for five
- Reindeer: 0.5x / 1x / 4x
- Bells and Hot Chocolate: 0.3x / 0.5x / 3x
- A, K, Q: 0.2x / 0.4x / 2x
- J, 10, 9: 0.1x / 0.3x / 1x
Even the top standard symbol pays just 5x for a full line, so the paytable isn’t where the money lives. It lives in the features, and three of the five can fire from the base game without warning.
Random Feature Triggers
On any base game spin that doesn’t trigger the Amazing Link feature or Free Spins, collecting symbols can set off a random feature instead:
- Collecting Wilds can randomly trigger the Pick Feature
- Collecting Bonus symbols can randomly trigger Free Spins
- Collecting Amazing symbols can randomly trigger the Amazing Link feature
Only one random feature can fire on a single spin, and the animations don’t influence triggering. The effect is that a spin which looks dead on the reels can still turn into something. It’s the series’ signature bit of pacing, and it does real work in a game whose ordinary line wins are this modest.
Amazing Link™ Feature
Landing six or more Amazing symbols anywhere on the reels triggers the Amazing Link feature. It plays out in a fixed sequence:
- Three respins are awarded, with all triggering Amazing symbols locked in place
- Each new Amazing symbol that lands locks too and resets the remaining respins to three
- Every Amazing symbol on the board carries a cash prize
- The feature ends when the respins run out or all 15 positions are filled
- Filling every position also awards the MEGA prize on top of the cash prizes
All prizes are paid at the end, not as symbols land, which is what makes the Boost mechanic matter.
Amazing Boost™
Randomly, an Amazing symbol lands as an Amazing Boost™ Symbol. Once the feature is running, each one of these gets its cash prize bumped by a random amount after every spin, and every Boost symbol on the board benefits together. Because payouts only settle when the round ends, a Boost symbol locked early keeps appreciating for the whole feature. This is the game’s one genuine twist on the formula: it inflates the value of prizes already locked in place rather than the number of respins.
Pick Feature
At the end of a base game spin, collecting Wild symbols can randomly trigger the Pick Feature. The rules of the round are simple:
- Match 3 icons to win the respective jackpot: MEGA, MAJOR, MINOR or MINI
- A 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier on one of the matching MAJOR, MINOR or MINI icons multiplies that prize by the displayed amount
- It can only trigger after a spin that doesn’t result in Free Spins or Amazing Link
The round resolves in a few taps with no decisions in it. An autoplay button will even select the icons for you, which tells you something about how much strategy is involved.
Amazing Link Christmas Boost Free Spins & Bonuses
Bonus symbols appear on reels 1, 3 and 5 in the base game, and landing three of them triggers 10 Free Spins. The round works like this:
- On each spin, one random reel turns into an Amazing Wild Reel containing Wild Amazing symbols only
- Randomly, a Wild Amazing symbol can be a Wild Amazing Boost™ Symbol, boosting its prize in the same way the base Boost symbol does
- Wild Amazing symbols substitute for all symbols except Bonus symbols
- Bets and lines played are the same as the triggering spin, and the round cannot be retriggered
Which reel goes wild changes every spin, so the wild coverage moves around rather than settling anywhere you can plan for. A guaranteed wild reel every spin is a decent engine for ten rounds, even with no retrigger to extend them.
The top prizes are the four jackpots and the MEGA award for a full board.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Playing this is mostly waiting in a very pretty room. Snow drifts over the cottages, the aurora glows, and the reels hand out small change while you wait for one of the features to interrupt – and somebody who already loves the Amazing Link formula will be perfectly content doing exactly that, because the interruptions come from three directions and they come often enough to keep the session alive.
That trigger web is the best thing here. No other part of the game gives a dead spin a second chance, and with a paytable this flat, it’s the only reason the base game is playable at all. The worst thing is that the paytable is this flat, and free spins can’t retrigger, so ten rounds is all you ever get.
It suits Amazing Link veterans and anyone building a seasonal rotation, and it will leave anyone who measures a slot by its line pays cold. For a fireside game with constant small fires to tend, this is an easy one to like.
